December 1842 After the king tried unsuccesfully to create Jewries, in which the local Jewish comunities would represent themselves, a call is going up troughout the country calling for full and unconditional emancipation fo the Jews. This was first put forward by the district government of Cologne, and is gaining support in Liberal as well as in Conservative communities. The supporters talk of the succes of this policy in Britain, Holland, France and Belgium. The King and his ministers are now discussing the merits and problems of this idea. February 1843 The King and his Chief Minister have decided that the full emancipation of the Jews is not possible. This decision was made because both of them are themselves believers in Christ. Edited by Chief Minister of Prussia, Apr 13 2010, 05:08 PM.
