German Empire, 1911 - Population: 65,711,250 - GDP: $230,994,182,267 (+6.04%) - Naval IC: 1,090/770 - Artillery IC: 34,500 - Aircraft IC: 800 German economic expansion continues steadily. The Germany Army is being slightly underfunded, given the recent increases mandated by similar expansions in Russia and Austria-Hungary. The difference is not enough to warrant a major shift in policy during peacetime, but additional increases requested by the Heer would permit greater efficiency and more training operations. |

German Empire, 1913 - Population: 67,364,299 - GDP: $250,660,687,383 (+4.23%) - Naval IC: 1,260/870 - Artillery IC: 39,400 - Aircraft IC: 1,000 The growth of the German economy continues at an ever-faster rate. The flow of capital to investments overseas is beginning to bring solid returns, particularly in export-driven industries that are now taking full advantage of the multiple trade deals that Berlin has signed. While the individual effect of many of them is rather small, the cumulative increase in German exports has provided a noticeable boost to the national economy. Nonetheless, the large size of the Imperial army still acts as a brake on Germany's full potential. Significant manpower is taken up by the military, a constraint that is expected only to increase as the navy expands and more corps are recruited to offset Russia and France. Last year's increase in funding has allowed more training and operational exercises to take place, however, permitting slightly greater operational efficiency. |

German Empire, 1914 - Population: 67,501,000 (+0.20%) - GDP: $217,322,815,961 (-13.3%) - Naval IC: 1,820/1,010 - Artillery IC: 100,000 - Aircraft IC: 26,100 - Automotive IC: 1,800 The German economy suffered a severe contraction in 1913 from months of international crises and the world war. Panic selling on the Berlin bourse gave way to a wholesale withdrawal of foreign capital as the threat of war loomed, although this was mitigated to a small extent by the national banking holiday. The British blockade and North Sea mine barrage curtailed trade overseas after October, with very little commerce now taking place other than with the Scandinavian nations. Finally, France's capture of Alsace-Lorraine at the end of the year deprived Germany of valuable ore mines and other industrial assets. Attempts to expand trade in the Balkans and Scandinavia have met with some success. British merchants have in response begun waging a vigorous economic campaign to purchase Swedish iron ore above market prices, further constricting German access. German birthrates have begun dropping as more men are mobilized. This in turn has been offset by the halting of immigration to the United States and South America. |
