December, 1910: Admiral Tirpitz has finally been able to win some of the Kaiser's ear and explain the importance of a larger battle fleet. Tirpitz had persuaded the Kaiser that more larger vessels were required and the submarine as an important weapon and stop gap that can be quickly built while larger tonnage is in the works.

15 January, 1911: Admiral Tirpitz has been returned to his previous post as Grand Admiral and Secretary of the Naval Office. The Kaiser and he repaired their relations after it was conceded that the German Navy was indeed lacking and Tirpitz's ideas were accepted. The Kaiser promptly gave him a medal for his loyalty to the Reich and a pay raise for his return to the Navy. Tirpitz has already begun barking orders down the chain of command and laid out a new timetable for German shipbuilders.

20 January, 1911: Mere days into his new command and Grand Admiral Tirpitz has already conferred with engineers and the Kaiser to plan new expansions to Germany's shipbuilding capacity. The port of Stettin will be granted $125,000,000 for new slips on the Eastern shore capable of building heavy warships and cargo freighters. Similarly, a new facility of equal measure is being built on the Elbe in Hamburg to compliment the already large scale facilities present there. The yards are expected to provide thousands of job both during and after construction. They are scheduled to be ready by January or February of 1913.

March, 1911: Upon touring the shipyards in Hamburg, Großadmiral Tirpitz met with engineers at the yards to begin designs for an even larger class of battleships. He pointed largely to new British and American superdreadnaught designs with massive guns and astonishing displacement. Germany was to have her own formidable vessel for her fleets as well once the Bayern Class was put to sea. Funds were requested, and granted, from Berlin to undertake the proper planning and designs.

Some naval advocates condemned the idea as a waste of massive amounts of steel and time and more energy should be focused on smaller ships or submarines which are cheaper and quicker to build. Further, once plans are finalized and built, some German commanders are wary of a British response or setting off a full blown naval race. Tirpitz insists these capital ships are vital to the protection of overseas German interests. He has also negotiated increasing the Navy budget by 20% for supply, efficiency, and higher pay.

May, 1911: Internal pressures from industry and the German Naval office forced the Kaiser to cancel outsourcing the construction of two Bayern Class Battleships to the United States. Both the labor and the risks posed by handing out German ship designs to the effectiveness of the Kaiserliche Marine forced the idea to be abandoned.

Berlin has begun a new set of naval exercises in the Baltic Sea and the German Bight. Most of the newer vessels of the German Navy are being tested and given full trial runs and new gun designs given sustained firing opportunity.

German Army elements will also be conducting exercises in Bavaria along with the German Imperial Air Services. Around 100,000 men are expected to be involved.

January, 1913: In order to keep peaceful intentions as far as shipbuilding is concerned, Berlin has declined to lay down any additional battleships or battlecruisers for 1913. Minelaying submarines and coastal submarines were also built at the expense of fleet submarines. A squadron of small light cruisers was laid down instead of heavier vessels as to show Berlin's commitment to peace and resolving the arms race.

It is confirmed to the public that the Bayern Class battleships will feature new Krupp 15" gun. After significant debate over the subject, it is confirmed also that the Mackensen Class will also boast 15" guns despite Admiral Friedrich von Ingenohl's insistence that they have 12" guns. A compromise of 13.8" was considered by Tirpitz before finally agreeing with the Kaiser to go with the larger armament in light of no new major warships being lain down in 1913.

March, 1913: With many new ships hitting the water in June, Berlin has opted to create the Reserveflotte to harbor older cruisers and coastal defense ships until they are needed. This will save Germany from needing to recruit quite so many new sailors and ease up the cost of operating the Navy. The ships are largely outdated but could still be used in a conflict. It is expected the Reserveflotte will be stationed in Kiel.

September, 1913: Plans for an enlarged, heavier armed version of the Bayern Class has been made public in the wake of the recent frictions in Europe. It is unclear how many of these ships Berlin is willing to pay for as the Army is campaigning for more funds itself being the more immediate concern. If the ships will be lain, it will likely be in early 1914.
