1905:Following the launch of HMS Dreadnought the Germany Navy finds herself in a position where it is clear that many of her ships are obsolete. Designs have been commissioned to construct a German all big gun battleship. In addition two experimental cruisers shall be constructed which will serve as testing grounds for new technologies, including new systems of propulsion. The Navy has asked for increased expansion of its budget and it is expected that the Reichstag will vote on this issue later in the year. |

1905: A new naval law has been proposed to the Reichstag. It would encompass the construction of twelve dreadnought battleships, which would form two squadrons, in the coming six years. This will provide Germany with the defence she might need against naval agression against her. In addition the cruiser construction programme shall continue unabated. It is expected that the reichstag shall vote for the Bill without much opposition. Finally, and depending of budget constraintments six more dreadnoughts might be ordered directly following the end of the six year programme. |

March 1907: The dreadnought armament race of late has exposed a particularly weak sector of German shipbuilding. No German company has the ability to produce steam turbine engines, which have to a great degree been responsible for the speed of HMS Dreadnought. After several proposed dreadnought designs had been studied by the navy, the responsible minister brought the matter to the attention of the government. The Kaiser, shocked by the apparent backwardness of German Industry brought to bear all his influence and power to ensure that the next class of German Dreadnought would be built with steam turbines. As such, Germaniawerf, AEG and Siemens shall receive very large amounts of subsidies over the coming two years with the expectation that a German steam turbine shall be developed which may rival the Parson. |

18 July 1908: The second German submarine has been commissioned into the Imperial Navy. Constructed at the Imperial Dockyard in Danzig, the U-2 is 50% larger than the U-1, and sports two torpedo tubes instead of one. While it is clear that these vessels are still in an experimental phase they have a promising future. |

![]() April 1909: The Walpot von Bassenheim and Hermann von Salza were shown to the German public for the first time this month. As they passed by the Cuxhaven waterfront they were met by large amounts of people who had come to witness the birth of the dreadnought age in Germany. While not completely finished yet, the ships should be fully operational within two months. The first true dreadnoughts of the German Imperial Navy they represent a step up from any other ship currently in commision. With their ten 12"main battery these ships are the most powerfull ships in the Baltic area. Their two sister ships Siegfried von Feuchtwangen and Winrich von Kniprode are expected to be finished next year when toghether they will form the I Battle Squadron of the Heimatflotte. January 1910: Considering the construction currently underway no new dreadnoughts shall be laid down this year. However a new design has been commissioned for a coastal defence ship which is to replace the eight which are currently in service. Finally, a new destroyer class is to be introduced, of which it is being planned that 40 will be constructed. In addition more news is expected on submarines, including both construction and useage.
