March 1904: Hector and Ajax have been commissioned into the German Navy. The ships greatly increase the power of the German Navy to respond to situations all over the world. Following the Venezuelan Crisis, which was deftly handled by a squadron of German ships the popularity of the navy has greatly increased in Germany. Hector especially is being used as a propaganda ship. A technical wonder and armed with the latest technology, its is destined to become a boy's ship. The German Navy is also considering more cruiser designs. A design for a quick mine laying cruiser has been commissioned and is expected in about one years time. A new battleship design has also been commissioned, which is hoped shall be finished in two years. In the mean time there is significant debate about the question if more ships should be laid down of the Hector Class. |
