Rick Larsen Town Hall Meeting – Everett, Washington

At 11:00 PM on Friday, Rick Larsen, Congressman for the 2nd Congressional District had a supposed Town Hall Meeting. Only problem is that you, his adoring public were not invited – not excluded, mind you, just that there was no media attention or internet notice of the event. On an inside tip late the night before, a few hardy liberty loving patriots decided that they would attend. After all, their taxes helped to pay his salary, including his pay raise.

The aim of the so called town hall meeting was to promote the new 8.25 billion dollar Obama stimulus bill just passed by Congress and heading to the Senate.

As I stood in line waiting to sign in, I heard Larsen’s aide saying, “Oh hi Lucy, did you get my email? Oh hi John, glad you could make it on such short notice. Oh, Frank, glad you heard about the last minute venue change”. Obviously, they knew just about everyone there and it turns out 95% were government people. Ordinary people have jobs on Friday at 11, except for the recently unemployed like myself.

After Larsen spent 45 minutes going through the gravy delicious, fat dripping, Kentucky Fried Legislation, you began to hear snorting sounds from the audience. Why there was a positively porcine gopsmacking delight in the millions that would be directed to government agencies right there in Snohomish County and they had been specifically invited in to feast on the kill!

At the question and answer period, they lined the trough eagerly. After snuffling at Rick Larsen’s feet, slathering their thanks, they only had questions such as, “How can you guarantee that money will be going directly to Snohomish County and not getting lost in the larger trough?” The welfare agencies weighed in with delight at their windfall. The transportation agency said that now was a great time for infrastructure projects because with the terrible economy they were getting 27 or 28 bids per project when in the boom times they would only get one or two. “This will result in great savings on our transportation projects”.

One man, who was obviously just a citizen, (how he ever managed to find out about the meeting, who knows, must have wandered in off the street) asked how millions for food stamps was going to stimulate the economy. Our congressvampire told him that the Congressional Budget Office had explained to him that for every $1.00 of food stamps issued, $1.71 was returned to the economy. The baffled citizen sat down, obviously trying hard to figure that one out.

A businessman weighed in and questioned if “a $500.00 tax cut was really going to help his failing business.” He was assured that the CBO had it all figured out and of course it would.

Finally, having not eaten any breakfast, but having no stomach for the cannibalistic gobbling of pork, I stood and introduced myself and said, “Mr. Congressman, I am a taxpayer!” There was a palpable hush in the room as a slight indigestion set in. A taxpayer? Who let a taxpayer in? No one wanted to see one of those. Why, they would positively spoil the whole party!

“And as a taxpayer, I would like to know how you are going to get the money to pay for all of this. I have read that this will cost $6,000 for every man, woman and child in America which adds up to $24,000 for the average family of 4. And that is not accounting for interest, which of course will more than double the bill. That makes $50,000 per family and that is not counting how inflation will devalue the money, running up the bill even more!

At which point Larsen had to stop and point out that he questioned my figures and that he didn’t believe it was going to be that much per family for this bill.

“But, Mr. Congressman, that does not even count the bailout bill that was passed just last year for $700 billion and the $2 trillion dollars that the Federal Reserve took and we can’t even find out where all of that money went. So that’s almost $4 trillion now not counting interest and inflationary pressures from just printing the money out of thin air”. As I was saying this he kind of shrugged and flapped his hands a bit impatiently, as if to say “What the hell does that have to do with our trough party? Damn taxpayers, they really know how to put the damper on a good feeding frenzy.”

But he rebounded and leaped to the attack and pointed out that we needed to spend the money on infrastructure because that would create jobs and stimulate the economy.

I said, “but Mr. Congressman we could rebuild our infrastructure debt free if we just abolished the Federal Reserve, which is not part of the government and is a private banking cartel. Why are we paying debt on loans when we could just loan ourselves the money without interest?”

Rather than bothering to deny that the Federal Reserve was a private banking cartel, which leads me to believe he knows the score, he just gave a hostile stare. Of course his silence let me once again speak,

“Perhaps you should educate yourself, Congressman on that issue, and vote to abolish the Federal Reserve”.

“And since almost all of you here are getting a slice of the pie, maybe you are overlooking the fact that we are mortgaging our children’s future, and our grandchildren’s future and their grandchildren’s future and placing them in debt servitude, with a debt that can never be repaid”.

The 10 people there that were not government feeders applauded. Later one of our own patriots got up and read from the Constitution to show that they had no authority to spend our money on all of these things. He then explained that this made Larsen a traitor to his country.

There were a lot of outraged oinks that anyone would call the good Congressman a traitor when he had given them such a lavish, calorie rich, buffet of goodies to munch on, filling their bellies with lard for the long, lean months ahead.

“Next question, please!” At which point he carefully selected people he knew by first name to speak and there was more gushing about his greatness and hard work.

Then, an hour before he was scheduled to leave, he said that he had some elementary school children waiting for him and he had to go right away so that was it for the question period.

The long and short of it is that the Obama Democrats see that this is a perfect time to loot the public treasury for all of their pet programs. After all, everyone else is looting the country, so they should get their’s while the getting is good!

8.25 Billion? You mean 825 Billion. Obama will have successfully spent more in his First 4 Months than Bush manages to spend in his first 4 Years. Making Obama the Historical Record Holder for Economically Screwing the USA!

He makes Carter look like Reagan...

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the following statement after voting for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which cleared the House by a vote of 246-183. An agreement on the final bill was reached by the House and Senate earlier this week, and the legislation is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by the President in the next few days.

“I am confident that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will achieve the following goals: create save or create approximately 3.5 million jobs, help those hurt the most by the recession and set a foundation for economic recovery and long-term growth.

“The recovery package provides $739 million to modernize roads, bridges, transit and water infrastructure in Washington state. This investment in our infrastructure will create good-paying jobs and help get our economy moving again.

“It invests $60 million in ferry boat and terminal construction and repairs. I fought alongside my Washington state colleagues to make sure that funding for ferries was included in the final bill.

“To invest in clean, efficient energy and create jobs, the recovery package increases BPA’s borrowing authority by $3.25 billion to help modernize Washington state’s electricity grid and integrate wind power and other renewable energy sources.

“For our neighbors who have been hit hard, it provides a temporary 13 percent increase for food stamps to help over 630,000 Washington residents feed their families and $150 million to help food banks across the country keep their shelves stocked.

“The economic recovery package delivers help for cash-strapped school districts -- $1.4 billion for school districts in Washington state, with over $44 million for the 2nd Congressional District, including the first-ever major federal investment in school modernization. The legislation also provides $100 million for Impact Aid to help school districts across the country, including Marysville and Oak Harbor, that serve a large number of military families.

“Finally, the economic recovery package provides a tax cut for 95 percent of working Americans so they can put that money back in the economy.

“The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is a critical step on the road to economic recovery. Moving forward, I will continue fighting to create jobs, help our neighbors hit hard, and set a foundation for economic recovery and long-term growth.”

So basically he's admitting he is directly responsible for about $6 Billion in Pork. I guess he forgot to mention the State Debt Recovery as well, each state will be granted the Amount of their State's Deficit plus a positive Balance of $4 Billion.

Larson is directly responsible for nearly $12 Billion Dollars of Debt. I wonder if he's willing to give up his Paycheck and Per Diem to help repay that?
