SENT 2-5-2009
To Ohio Pain Staff :

I am in receipt of your e-mail dated 1-29-09 sent to the Westfield Township info address. I had requested township e-mails through a public document request and identified with your 'snow in the road' problem. As I wrote in my e-mail to Trustee Likley (shown below), the very same situation happened to my husband and myself.

Since I found no response from the Township Trustees to your e-mail I asked Trustee Likley what his response was to you. His response to my questions are below. I wonder if he ever did respond to you?

I was at the Trustee Meeting tonight and Trustee Kratzer said he had not received a copy of your e-mail as he should have. Trustee Likley proceeded to reiterate his written statement sent me and then Trustee Sims, sheepishly, said that was her house (5570 Mud Lake Rd.) and that her husband would never do anything like pushing snow into the road. Her husband apparently works at the airport and clears the snow from the runways and knows what to do with large amounts of snow.

So, the bottom line is that apparently Trustees Likley and Sims feel that you fabricated your e-mail to them with some ulterior motive behind it. I believe this happened to you. I invite you to access a web site created out of frustration which enumerates questionable behavior and decision-making by these two trustees.

Please go to: www.westfieldtownship411.com

I hope you re-contact the Westfield Trustees on the Info line and give them a piece of your mind! They could use some fresh and intelligent new pieces!

Thank you for reporting township problems that need to be corrected,

Karen Fisher

Any safety issues that you observe on the roads should be communicated to the sheriff department they will in turn contact the appropriate entity to remedy the problem. Obviously home owners and plow operators should not push snow out into the street, but with this years almost record numbers some have no place left to go. The home owner can be held responsible for these actions. They should make every effort to clean the road way if they most push accross.

To Trustee Jim Likley - Road liaison:

Jim, This same scenario happened to my husband and myself on Wedgewood Rd. in Layfayette Twnshp. What recourse do we have when something like this happens? It's a very dangerous situation and it's apparent the homeowners just want to get the snow out of their drive but it causes danger to us drivers. What was your response to the person writing the complaint below? What action was taken with the homeowner? Is this against the law?

Please advise.
Thank you.

Subject: homeowners plowing their snow into the road

I have a safety concern/question. When a homeowner plows their driveway and pushes is all into the road (when the road has already been plowed) this can cause very hazardous conditions. I was driving on Mud Lake Rd last night around 8:00 pm the road had been plowed very nicely and driving was easy until I almost spun out when I hit an area in front of a house (the address is 5570 a tan two story house) because their was about 1 foot of snow covering the whole area on both lanes of the road directly in front of their driveway. You could tell they had pushed it all into the road because their driveway was perfectly clear. I think this is very irresponsible for a homeowner most people put the snow into their yards not the roads. Can this be reported and the homeowner made aware how dangerous this is? Thank You.
