Do not trust me!

A Garganta opened, a black hole in the sky over Karakura Town. Charlotte stepped from the void, and it sealed behind her as she dropped onto a rooftop. She looked around, and all appeared calm. Then she heard an almighty crash from about 200 metres to her left. She jumped to another ledge to get a clearer view. She looked down, and a bird-like hollow shot up from underneath her, surprising her, and nearly knocking her off. Looking down, she saw a dead hollow, that had clearly just been killed by the bird. She looked back at the bird, which had collapsed in a limp heap. She could feel it wasn't strong, and it had an open tear in it's wing. Surely it couldn't get away now could it? She strode over to it and stood and stared at it, hoping to get a frightened reaction from it. It looked up, and then carried on looking at its wing. This greatly annoyed Charlotte, and clearly she had to teach this birs a lesson. She raised her front left paw, and brought it down crushing it's ankle. It screamed as Charlotte heard the bone crack. It unfurled it's wings, which were much bigger than they first appeared. It powered them downwards, creating a surge of air that launched itself into the air, and throwing Charlotte backwards into a chimney pot. The bird flapped, and began to head at a considerable pace towards the river. Charlotte thought "How can that thing still fly at all?" She stood up, shook off the brickdust, and gave pursuit. As it flew, the hollow was on a tilt because of the gash in it's wing. And yet Charlotte had to run to keep up with it. As she ran, Charlotte's eyes focused on the hollow, rather than in front of her, where they should have been looking. She ran sraight into the back of a billboard by accident, tipping it over, so that it fell on the road it overlooked, causing cars to have to swerve to avoid it. It also gave her a headache. She shook her head, as if her dazed state could be thrown off. Then she carried on after the hollow. Leaping over alleyways, and gaps between buildings, she was sweating heavily. Eventually, the river creeped up, a blue line on the bottom of her vision. The buildings ended, and Charlotte dropped from the roof to the ground, via a flagpole she used as a springboard. Now all that was between her and the river was a main road. She felt as if she was in some giant version of Frogger. Stopping and starting to get past the waves of traffic, Charlotte eventually broke the line, and ran onto the bridge. The hollow was going higher, so she clambered onto one of the bridge's suspension cables, and ran up it. She reached the top, one of the highest points in Karakura, and could see the hollow was struggling, it could barely keep in the air. Charlotte readied to pounce. And then... the river surface exploded, spray flew everywhere, and from the river rose a Gillian. "Okay, What The Fuck!?" It's mouth opened wide, and slammed shut, like a snare trap, engulfing the hollow. It's mouth opened again, and let out a triumphant roar... followed by a growing ball of red light. "That's definately not good." She dived onto the suspension cable just as the cero raged past where she had just been. The sprinted pel-mel away from the beast. It followed her alongside the bridge. At a blazing pace, Charlotte raced over the road, down a back alley, and into a concealed courtyard. She felt the tremors of the beast's footsteps fade away, and then totally disappear. It was safe to exit the cover. |
