War of Discord takes place on the continent of Andural (Ahn-der-all) which is currently divided into four sections: the Kingdom of Falhanor, the Kingdom of Sameria, the Kingdom of Allehbast, and the Northern Territory. In the past, Andural was ruled primarily by the Elves and other magical races were abundant while the Humans were subjugated but now it is Humans that preside over most of the known world while the other races are diminished.

The Kingdom of Falhanor is the largest of the three kingdoms. It is currently ruled by King Michael Cornelius Falhanor IV. It has the largest military of the three kingdoms but most of it is usually guarding their northern border to repel Orc tribes and fell beasts that would otherwise overrun the three kingdoms. Of note in its military are the Nine Riders who serve as generals. The Church holds the most sway here.

The Kingdom of Allehbast is often seen as the odd one out. Its military strength is the weakest of the three kingdoms yet its the only one to have an actual navy and the King has actually shown interest in discovering a new land. It's known for its grand seaside cities and heavy focus on commerce. Their relationship with Falhanor has never been the greatest but there's nothing to suggest that a war would break out between them. The Church holds the least sway here.

The Kingdom of Sameria is the smallest of the three kingdoms but has a fairly strong military. It's known for the high quality of ore that can be found there as well as the fact that it tends to be the arbiter for any qualms Falhanor and Allehbast have with each other. It has occasionally been called the Kingdom of Mercenaries due to the oddly high number of sellswords and bounty hunters that hail from that region.
