Everyone participating in this RP have plenty of experience in character creation so I won’t bore you with the basics. Instead, I’ll explain things specific to this RP for War of Discord, due to its nature of using small groups of players, is character-driven in nature rather than plot-driven. For those of you who do not know the difference, in a character-driven tale, if you were to replace just one or two of the characters then course of the story would be completely different. It is the characters that brings in readers and makes you want to continue the story. In plot-driven tales, the opposite is true. The characters are moved more often by outside forces than their own personalities and you could replace the protagonist(s) with almost anyone else and the story would remain mostly unchanged.

Due to the RP’s nature, its plot is very skeletal. My outline has the major points of concern, the outside forces that work upon our party, but not the exact nature of the outcome. There will be several events where the party will face a choice and whatever that choice may be, be it something I have planned for or something I didn’t see coming, it could have a major effect on the plot. There are several paths through this tale and, as the theme of the RP says, the future is in your hands.

Most people, when they make a new character, create a plot to go with them. The skeletal nature of my outline is not only to allow for the decisions of the party but also to allow for character sub-plots. My sole request is that you keep me informed of your character’s story by providing me with an outline, any information beyond said outline you think I might need, and when you wish for the plot to start and end. The story of War of Discord is currently set up in a three act structure so you just say “Start in Act I and end in Act II” and I’ll use my discretion or be more specific and say “Start at the end of Act I and end in the middle of Act III.” Don’t worry about contradicting the plot in some fashion. Except in the most extreme of cases where I’d have to change the entire outline to fit your character’s story, I’ll change my outline before I request you to change yours.

Also, when you are making your character’s story, do keep in mind that, towards the end, the party will be fighting powerful opponents. To that end, it is best to make use of the magic system and/or have your character seek out one of the weapons of legend. By the end, our party should have the strength to slay a god, should the need arise.
