Truth be told, I'm more a fan of the music from the first game, but this is pretty fun, too.

The only techno I've ever heard that I liked.

The only SONG from these guys I've liked.

Self-explanatory.

I also indulge in Wierd Al, the occasional Metallica, and pretty much anything that runs across my fancy when I'm in the mood for it.

Oya Manda!

You should totally post LABELS to your music so we know what each link is. >.> As for me:

Just heard this song for the first time in a good 6 or more years a week ago, and I can't get it out of my head. I normally don't like country but it affects me in some way. ^o)
Travelin' Soldier

I could get dozens and dozens of Dave Matthews Band songs up here, but I won't. Love DMB.
You and Me

Massive Attack is a great band, even if they're pretty old.
Risingson
Boba Fett

Ooh, this is my realm here. I love music. I love music so much, I switched to a Music major even though it has nothing to do with the career I want. The only thing better than listening to music is playing it. Drums (and percussion), bass, piano, guitar, and vocals.

I literally listen to all kinds of music. A lot of people say they do, but most can't deliver. I really do listen to it all, including pop, country, rap, classical, and ethnic music from all around the world. Yes, I listen to pop. I also listen to music that makes Disturbed look tame, and that's not a hyperbole. Now I'm not big on favorites, but I can say hands down that my favorite band/artist(s)/performer/musical inspiration/songwriter(s) (a band that writes their own music?! crazy!) is Thrice.

Nuff said right there.

Oh, I can...

I already typed this once, but my system crashed and I'm pissed and bitter and not typing that all out again, but...what I listen to ranges from Broadway to soundtracks from animated Disney films to nerdcore to video game soundtracks to Star Wars parodies (haha, yes, I still collect those) to '60s protest music to Scottish and Australian folksongs to reggae (albeit reluctantly) to some rap (albeit VERY reluctantly) to country to what can only be described as "music by people who grew up in New Jersey."

Pretty much, anything anyone has ever sent me or I have ever followed a random link on. I'm also the designated storage person for the Anons' audio supplies, so raid CDs get a lot of play around here. Yessir, I *do* have a Rick Astley's Greatest Hits CD, and yessir, there *is* more than one song on it.

But favorite artist? By far would absolutely have to be Phil Ochs (which really tends to...*worry* some people). Close seconds would be Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. I take after my dad in music tastes a lot. Springsteen was on repeat constantly in his truck when I was growing up, and he was the one that first introduced me to Ochs. Bon Jovi I picked up on back when I was an angry teen. :$

Yay music (that I've had to now go and refind the links to, CURSE YOU TECHNOLOGY!):

In my not so humble opinion, the best Springsteen song ever:

More Springsteen:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPudiBR15mk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOpIfbneeHg (*Man* is that an old video...)

Ooh, now that's interesting. A Bruce Springsteen cover of a great old Pete Seeger song. Way to combine two of my favorite music genres, Youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJBLZQ65iUc

One of my favorite songs of all time is Jon Bon Jovi's cover of Hallelujah. The original version, if I recall, was used in the (utterly fantastic) Watchmen soundtrack.

More Bon Jovi:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GccfzxHIXaY (oh dear lord the hair)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k99h5aikc4g
http://www.tangle.com/view_video?viewkey=cf4f887c917a89ee6160 (on a side note whaaaaat at getting Scientology ads on a site like that)

First Phil Ochs song I ever heard, and the fact that I didn't run screaming for the hills is probably my cynical and pessimistic side speaking:
http://www.lumberjackthief.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/03-outside-of-a-small-circle-of-friends.mp3
Not a video, because it's insanely hard to find videos of people who died before Youtube existed.

More Ochs, and this is fairly typical of his songs:
http://beiderbecke.typepad.com/tba/files/08_heres_to_the_state_of_mississippi.mp3
All of his songs have such quietly brilliant lyrics. The writer in me always goes "oh man, that's a clever turn of phrase there..." For example (and unfortunately this is just a thirty-second clip) this song is about college students involved in Vietnam War protests, and the first time I heard the song I actually felt the need to rewind and replay the line "But since I left my parents I've forgotten how to bow": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_D5yTGzACc

Video this time, of probably his best-known song. One of my favorites:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5pgrKSwFJE

And because I'd feel guilty dumping just political songs on you, here's one of his others. This video cuts out before the end, but you only miss a few seconds.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8qZQORjmzQ

Really wish I could find some better Ochs songs online; I have a huge collection and this is missing the best of them.

Right on, Kal. Good music requires passion and knowledge, but little else. Music doesn't have to be complicated to be good, although that hardly ever hurts. The first thing I listen for when hearing a new song is the bass line. If the bassist is good, usually the rest of the band is pretty good. Not that bassists are the weak link, it's just that a true bassist is a rare find. My good friend taught me that the bass isn't an easy instrument to play; it's just that no one knows how to play it.

I also avoid lyrics until I've examined every other part of the music. So many people judge music by the words that are spoken, not the melodies that are sung. Lyrics are an interpretation of the music, not the meaning of it. The true story is told by the interplay of harmony and rhythm; the more intelligently the song is composed, the greater detail the story tells. Lyrics aren't even the icing on the cake. They're the birthday candle on top. However, that said, a good set of lyrics can cast a certain light on the song that one may not have seen otherwise. Good lyrics are not only intelligent and meaningful to both the writer and the listener, but also tied in with the music. Syllabic structure is vital to the overall rhythm. If the words don't fit, they don't sound good, and that just drags the music down. I give major props to instrumental bands like Pelican that write inspiring music and never need say a word.

Valid and correct except that I'm a writer and I'm biased towards lyrics. :D

So am I. But I'm also a musician. And it *is* music, not poetry, thus my emphasis on the music rather than the...the poetry.

Speaking of writing, I really need to crack down on that story I've been writing. Ever since my vod I'm writing it with got shipped off to Afghanistan it's been SLOW going.
