Welcome to Virtual Book Club. We hope you enjoy your visit. We are exactly what we sound like: a place online to read and discuss books with other people who like to read and discuss books. We are also currently working on a writer's critique group within the Book Club.

How the book club is run; (Or, how the book club runs?)

This is pretty much what it sounds like: a Virtual Book Club. It's a place for people who may not, in real life, have nerdy book-loving friends with whom to discuss books. Enter the magic of the intarweb.

(It will also be a place for aspiring writers to make connections with their readers-to-be and get some good constructive criticism on their works in progress before they go on trying to get published or something. But we haven't started that yet.)

This is how the book club works:

Step 1: In the "What You'd Like To Read" forum, everyone who wants to can suggest a theme or a book list or an author, etc, that we can focus on as a group. Then we'll poll all the suggestions. The top three will be used for the upcoming three months of book club (one per month), and close to the end of that, if we're still up and running the same way, we'll repoll.

Step 2: In the same "What You'd Like to Read" forum, everyone who still wants to can suggest a book under the current month's chosen theme/book list/author/etc. In fact, since we currently have no members, you can suggest a few. Then we'll take another poll of all these suggestions, and the top four books chosen by all of you will be our current reading list for the month. As a reader, you can read any one you choose, or two, or three, or all four if you're one of THOSE people. ;D

We'll discuss two of the four books approximately every two weeks (or halfway through the month). So, if you want to read a book every two weeks, you still have a choice between two of them, and we won't be polling you every other day to see what we're reading lol. We'll repoll at the end of the month for the upcoming month.

Step 3: We'll post up a reading and discussion schedule in "The Reading and Discussion Schedule" forum for each book. These discussions will be in a chat room, probably chatzy, although I have yet to figure that one out. Probably I will just make sly do it. <33 Regardless, the link to said chat will be posted in a place of obviousness.

If you can't make the discussion you want to be at, there will be a "Can We Reschedule That?" thread, or some such thing, and we'll try and work it out, although that will be limited, as it will have to be at a time when either one of us admins can be there, or someone else who is appointed a moderator. I'm not really sure why, but this seems like a good rule of thumb, like stationing an emergency vehicle outside a frat house on homecoming night.

Step 4: If you really can't make the book-talk you want to be at, you can check out the "What We're Reading" forum, because after the initial chat we'll post up a continuing discussion thread.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

If you have a better idea for how this should be run, by all means, tell us! There should be a thread around here or a forum for that discussion. If you can't find it, make one!

So, come out and discuss, suggest and read! If you made it through this explanation, you can read a book. Srsly.
