No, it is Battlelog, well actually the fact it has to load up the game again for each match and it takes a while to connect to a server. I'm not considering swapping because of the bug, although I've heard it existed with BF3 for some time so it might not even get completely fixed, but because Battlelog is a piece of shit. I just want it to work how it does on consoles, and how almost every other game works on PC, you have the game running and then you join matches from within it. Forcing people to use a web browser is just fucking retarded. Origin isn't a problem once you've got the game installed, due to having to use Battlelog you don't even have to open the Origin program to play, but it's a shitty service for getting games bought and installed and I don't enjoy having yet another account to remember the details for. |

How can it be Battlelog... Numerous people I know have no trouble connecting. My brothers pc takes a good few minutes to join a game but its a really old rig and can barely run the game on LOW. Battlelog does not slow down the service one bit... Unless your browser is highly infected with spyware etc. Try changing your browser and see if that helps at all. If I and most others can be in a game in under 1 minute its clearly not the service it would be more widespread, and more likely the outcome of a few things on your system. As for running the server list inside of the game, it makes no difference either. But having it performed through the browser makes it easier for you to do other things whilst waiting, then only going into the game once its ready. Huge benefit for clans and people gaming with friends as its easy to make parties and follow each other, plus if your in queue you can just browse the web or do other shit. FAR better than sitting there watching your screen saying Connecting... Connecting... Connecting. Edited by DafWales, Oct 9 2013, 11:34 PM.

It's not Battlelog specifically but rather the fact it uses it to join a match, thus the blame can be placed on Battlelog. On my PS3, which uses the exact same internet connection (both on the same router), it takes less than a minute to be in a match after clicking join but on PC it takes more like 3 minutes (and my PC isn't to blame). And it's not because it uses the browser to find matches that's an issue, the problem is that the game doesn't even load up until you click to join a server. It's just stupid, pointless, and wasteful opening and closing the game before and after every match. If you really want to do other shit you simply alt+tab from the game like any other game, you could even run a second monitor like Dice are trying to promote by letting you view the map in the browser whilst you play. It wouldn't veen be hard for them to give people two options, either keep the game running and allow you to join servers from within it or have the browser based shit. |

That is a complete non issue, that the game is not loaded up until you clock join. Games do not take long to start unless they have prolonged start up videos which you cannot skip. Most games don't even load anything large to get to the menu, all its loading is a GUI interface like a normal program. Its when your PC has to load all the game files for a particular map/level that anything is really done. So your point is invalid. Take BF2 for instance, if you chopped out the non skip-able start up videos you were on in less then 20 seconds unless your PC was absolutely shit, its when you used the server browser to find a game, clicked join and the game took a good few minutes on average PC's and about 30 seconds on top end. Pretty much the same as today. The game has to assort all the correct files, and figure out their coordinates then render them (Basic analogy), That's when it takes its time. Comparing PC to PS3 load times is pointless as well... How do you expect to get an accurate representation of time difference when essentially its a different game. Off the top of my head you've got these differences: - All the textures are ALOT smaller res, therefore smaller in size. - The games been optimised for that exact spec platform (PC hasn't its generally optimised) - There's almost double the amount of players on most servers with the odd exception. Yes most PC's are faster but optimisation is EVERYTHING in a game, which is the drawback about PC gaming. |

I'm guessing it must have been down for maintenance updates for a few hours because it worked for me last night earlier on. You need to take a chill pill though dude... The online service for console goes down from time to time just as much as PC so again, invalid argument. |
