Why anyone would pay more than a tenth of that price I don't know, it's not like it's even a particularly decent game that's been redone so you may as well just get the original version. It really puts into perspective how awesome it is to have something like Black Mesa (Half Life remake) for free. |

Well considering when it came out it cost about £40 as I remember pleading with my mum to buy it for me, its not that badly priced. It's possibly one of my favourite games ! Epic game back in the day. It was worth the remake just to update the multiplayer as it was terrible before. Black Mesa was remade for fun by a select few who thought it would be a good thing to do. Its basically a mod, hence being free as they had no rights over the game. |

It's a 14 year old game, you can get games less than a year old for cheaper. I realise Black Mesa's a mod but a lot of work went into it, where as this wouldn't have been anywhere near as much effort yet they have the cheek to charge more than 3 quid for it. As for the actual game I've never found this type much fun same with Sims, Simcity, etc. although I partly enjoyed Black & White for a while but that soon became boring. I guess Spore also comes under the same genre and I found that really fun, but there's a lot more creativity and control involved in that. |

But that's the point here, you don't like that type of game. That's fair enough but there are a lot of people who loves this series and loved the older versions even more but are unable to play it at their full resolution and can't use multiplayer due to the servers were taken down. Now it's been remade to play at full 1080p res, models retextured and a properly working multiplayer. The Dev's have actually done what alot of people have been asking for to help keep a brilliant series alive. Regardless on how much work you think has been put into this (which there is a lot when you think each model has has to be retextured and modelled to look as it should in 1080p). Black Mesa was just levels put together using existing coding and textures. Essentially made using a sims like building mechanics. Their just incomparable and it would be stupid of the company not to try and make some money off of this... It's good business. I'd happy pay a £10, it's pocket change at the end of the day for a game I know I enjoy and would get hours and hours out of compared to alot of games being made today. |

I never actually had age of empires but was always jealous of my mates having it, was command and conquer. £13 is a bit steep for general people but i suppose to people with loved it back in the day its not so bad. Just watched a video trailer of it and it doesnt look incredible to be fair Edited by Photoshoper, Mar 14 2013, 01:13 AM.

Yeah they've not mucked about with physics or mechanics just retextured and remodelled everything so it can be seen in HIRES because it opens at 1024 max IIRC which is annoying. 1 & 2 were simple but that's what I loved about it. The complete edition of III is on offer though too which is probably more down your alley Lew. Edited by DafWales, Mar 14 2013, 08:20 AM.
