Right, well yesterday my dad purchased Xbox Kinect for the family to play at Christmas time. We were going to go with a Wii but after buying the console and equiping it with 4 controllers and some games etc it turned out to be quite expensive so ended up with the Kinect.
Looking forward to going home at Christmas time to play it and see what its like, as myself, i am more a fan of control pads rather than movement gaming.
Anyways anyone got Kinect or Move or do people still think the Wii is the best when it comes to motion gaming??

Wii's are actually pretty cheap now, at least second hand, one of the cash converter type shops over in Stevenage or Harlow had about 10 for £70 each. I've got one, had it for ages and don't play it any more as tbh it's pretty shitty. The whole motion control thing isn't very accurate, although it's meant to be a little better with the Motion Plus add on (but then not all games support it), and it's only really good for pointing at stuff on the screen. The only other thing I like about it is having the two parts of the control separate, makes it more comfortable to lounge about in the sofa (which kind of defeats the point of the Wii but whatever).

I'm getting a PS3 for Christmas that'll should come with Move, I'm not getting my hopes up so if it's crap I'll just end up selling it. My brother's also (maybe) getting another Xbox for Christmas, I think with Kinect, so I'll get the chance to try that out too. So far it looks the most promising as it seems really well implemented, for example it actually works in the Xbox menu (Minority Report style) and with voice control.

Tbh though all this motion control crap is still just a gimmick like it was when the Wii came out, it rarely adds anything worthwhile to the games and they all end up either being pointless tech demos like Wii Sports or have half arsed implementation like Resident Evil 4 where there are a few bits where you wiggle the remote during cutscenes (although using it to aim is pretty cool, but it gets tiresome quick as you always have to have the remote pointed at the screen). Microsoft seem to have the right idea, making the motion control work in stuff other than games to make it a little bit more worthwhile until some decent games come out.

Didn't think about second hand Wii's but oh well. Well we've got it for family fun really, can't wait to have a go on it, although I'm not expecting any great games to be out on it too soon.
The Move looks pretty decent, but you have to buy the camera on top of the controllers etc which they don't include in the price apparently.

The Move starter kit includes the camera, one controller and I think a game. You can then buy the controller with the thumbstick on it for around £20 or just use a normal dualshock controller instead. The starter kit is around £50 or so, then another 3 move controllers would be about £30 each bringing the total to around £140 for 4 people (or two using two controllers) to play. The Kinect on the other hand supports 4 people right out of the box for about £130, you just don't get a cheaper option for less people.
