On hardcore mode the range and damage of a gun isnt as important as normal mode, as long as you get some good shots it will kill them.

I played hardcore almost exclusively on MW1 for PC, but find it not so much fun on MW2. It is just too important to get a hit the first shot, and still not being able to aim very well quickly I suck at it. Also, there is always loads of respawn time... Either on HC TDM with like 10 seconds respawn time EVERY SINGLE TIME, or on HQ with over a minute sometimes... So annoying, I just want to play, why should I have to wait 10 seconds every time? 8-12 players is already very little in most maps :S

Now i usually play ground war, using a completely silenced class. Silencer takes away a little range so you need some more hits on long range, but I tend to avoid shooting long range, especially if they saw me. I just walk away and dissapear, sneak towards them, and by the time I got to them they've forgotten about me so I can knife them in the back.

The only thing left fixing now is knife range imo. Knifing from long range is OK I guess if you suddenly meet someone around a corner or something, then it just comes down to reflexes and still takes a little skill. But there's so many people who just run straight at me, not even bothering to move side to side.. I unload half a mag into them but they survive and knife me and I'm dead. I usually quit if someone does that, takes all the fun away from the game... Completely unrealistic, makes no sense at all.
Knifing is supposed to be a last resort if the enemy got too close to you, not another long range weapon..

I'm getting a little tired of people not playing as the gametype is meant to be played.

I was just playing Domination (on ground war, so with 9 players per team), and our team spawns right in front of point A. As soon as the game starts, everyone sprints away, leaving me alone at point A capturing it. Ok whatever... Few minutes into the game, we are getting dominated (all points owned by enemy). I never saw a single enemy trying to capture, while I kept trying all game. There were 2 or 3 routes always unguarded, but as soon as I started capturing a few enemies tracked back and killed me (not much I could do by myself). All my teammates where camping in one remaining route where most enemies were, trying to get the most kills. WTF ARE YOU DOING?!?! Go play TDM if you don't like capturing points, ffs... We lost with 35-200 or something... I'm used to playing on dedicated servers on the PC, and I usually joined the same server all the time, and they had a policy where not playing along with the gametype meant a warning, then a kick. Wasn't used much, but the warnings were usually enough to keep people capturing points etc, which made the games so much more fun.
I feel that in MW2 everything is about getting as much kills as possible so you can get your chopper gunner/ac130/nuke, everything else doesn't seem to matter as much...

The reason that people play TDM in a Domination match is probably because they are in the same 'playlist option' (dunno what its called, I mean ground war). I never understood that... Why is there not just an option for every gametype + every combination of players? Like big TDM (18 players) instead of only normal TDM or TDM + Domination. Why not normal TDM + Hardcore? Why does it have to be max 12 players, and 10 seconds respawn time? Makes no sense, just let the player choose??

Thats what i used to find with HS&D on cod4, people would rather try and get kills rather than try to plant or defuse the bomb, don't know if it is still like that on MW2 as i don't play it as much.

yeah Flipp's right, people just want the kills though.
Things like domination means people just go to certain spots to kill each other.
I used to play em properly but now i think fuck it no point, and just go for kills

I play by the rules.
so usually team runs offto capture the other flags, and i'll be camping somewhere, keeping my eye out on the flag.
but 12 people on the map at once is far not enough, Even on the Small Maps of CS i'd play 10 on 10

And Sniper FTW.

Dude, I fuckin' own at domination, invite me if I'm on and I'll play properly, I do my rambo runs everywhere, stab and capture, normally end up with 2-3000 points even if it's only with 9 kills or so.

I love Spazzing people in the face.

I also love shooting people in the face with that shotgun called the Spaz.
