As he drew closer with the gun, her breathing grew faster, her chest tighter. It felt like it was on fire. When it was pointed at her head, her pupils shrank to a small size. Maybe now it's okay to cry. When he went down and withdrew, immense relief swept through her. Drawing her injured arm to her chest, she leaned forward until her shoulders pressed against her knees. A sob shuddered rocked her body. She hadn't realized how quickly she had been breathing until it had a chance to slow down. "I'm in high school," she said, blinking the tears out of her eyes. |

"And I'm a charity worker." Kazuyama retorted immediately. He seemed to ignore both the tears rolling down her cheeks, and the blood flowing from her arm. She had somehow healed herself moments earlier, and... "...this is still one messed up nightmare." Kazu muttered to himself. Shaking his head as he stood up finally, he sighed lowly and looked to the ominous lighthouse again. Something seemed... off about it. He shook his head again, and looked back to Nalani. Suddenly, he grabbed his jaw and then touched his forehead. The low, throbbing pain of recovering wounds suddenly overtook him, and he shook his head. Kazuyama staggered while still holding his forehead. The lighthouse shifted slightly, but before he could see what was happening, his vision went dark. |

"It's true..." she replied. She stayed sitting, nursing her wound. She sniffled a bit. He didn't show any remorse. In a way, Nalani was glad. She always got nervous when people tried to sympathetic or caring. It usually just came across as pity. The eyes of people at her parents' funeral who looked down on her, feeling bad about her and Hideaki's situation, but not willing to do a thing about it. The boy said something else and then his voice faded. She looked over and he was gone. Her face turned up and she stared at the moon. ...It's green... She blinked. Next thing she saw was the ceiling of her room. Instead of touching where the gash had been made, she touched her side, feeling the shunt. Of course it was just a dream. |
