Well, customization is a fun thing for players. So I figure, we can't really have it with just one weapon for your start out class. So to add this feature in, you'd need perks. Perks are basically things that aid you in the game. You can choose one perk from each slot. You can change it to your heart's content to fit your play style. You can also customize what gun you start with. To do this though, we need real life guns with a variety of classes. Similar to what me and Mold posted in the game sprite topic. Here are some... Primary guns (choose 1): - Ak-47 - M16 - Steyr AUG - MP5 - P90 - Uzi - M40 - M21 - Dragunov - Double Barrel Shotgun - SPAS 15 - M1014 Perk slot 1 (choose 1): - Bandolier (doubles ammo) - Land mine x2 - Grenade - Quick Draw (faster reloads) Perk slot 2 (choose 1): - Explosive (larger explosion radius for grenades and land mines) - Larger Round (increases bullet damage) - Bullet Proof (slightly increased health) - Trigger Happy (increased rate of fire) Perk slot 3 (choose 1): - Dropped (creates a live grenade after death) - Detector (detects if grenades are being thrown toward you and where land mines are) - Lightfoot (no damage taken from falls) - Football Player (throw grenades further) For example, let's choose... Primary: P90 Perk slot 1: Land mines x2 Perk slot 2: Explosive Perk slot 3: Dropped I have a P90 with land mines instead of a grenade but I drop a live grenade after I die. It also gives the land mine and grenade a bigger explosive radius. This is a tactical setup for explosive weaponry feel free to use it if the finished game has perks in it. |

It's a good idea. But what do you mean as in primary gun? Do you have unlimited ammo for it forever or just u start with that gun and a limited ammo of that gun as well as the basic pistol each battle? For the perks, I think that would make the game a bit unbalanced, since you can't really equalize different upgrades to different areas, and sometimes players might feel like they chose the wrong perk and regret and quit or restart then feel bored as though they had to do smething over again and quit. |

They have the should have limited ammo for both the pistol and primary gun. However, they have the ability to pick up other people's guns. This evens it out a bit. I can see why you can think of that. Basically on paper it doesn't sound balanced but it is really. Things to choose from makes it so they have to sacrifice other good perks for the one they want. Evening it out. It's kind of hard to explain. You can even out someone with: - Grenade - Larger Round - Dropped By doing something like: - Grenade - Bullet Proof - Detector By using Bullet Proof, it cancels out the Larger Round so it does normal damage. And by using Detector, it see's if the person uses dropped so you can run away from it. And to make it so they cannot do anything. There should be at least 3 customizable setups to choose from. So you can simply switch to a different one if you aren't doing so hot with the current setup. Example: Say you're doing bad with: - M16 - Bandolier - Bullet Proof - Lightfoot You can switch mid-game to something like: - SPAS 15 - Quick Draw - Bullet Proof - Detector So you have a wider variety to balance out with. The primary guns should not dissapear when you die and should reload itself when u die too, but I think the perks are a bit too much for the player to think about during a battle when u still have to watch out for bullets and ppl comin at u. |

| I don't get what you mean on the first part. Perks really do nothing that affects your gameplay at all. Thing like Larger Rounds make it to so it's one bullet easier to kill someone. While things like Bullet Proof make it so it takes one more bullet to kill you. Really no difference when you are shooting in a food fight. The only thing I can think of you'd have to click a button other than shoot would be a grenade or land mine which you can throw/set with your other mouse button. With at least 3 different setups, you choose what you like. NOTE: If you do regular lobbies, you can also let them quickly edit the classes before the game countdown starts to whatever map they'd be playing on. So it's not just a one time thing with perks, you can edit them. |

Yes, but if you let the players edit the perks, its too much of a hassle and too much to think about. |

You have to constantly think about what others will pick so that you'll not be countered with your picked perk's counterpart. You also might've chosen a bad combination and can't seem to get the right one and always be the one who dies. It might make the player frustrated. The gameplay should be simple and casual and no heavy multitasking. Just shoot and move around. Edited by Coollog, July 28 2009, 02:19 PM.

| Trust me, there is NO multi-tasking or thinking about combinations. You don't have to think of Call of Duty's perk system when playing and it has far more perks. This is also why you have three. It's not to combat with other people's perks (though it can be if you want), it's more of a way to help you out to kill them. The most used perks in CoD is probably something like Bandolier, Stopping Power (basically Larger Rounds) and Martyrdom (basically dropped). People usually do something like that. Everyone has the choice to have one of three classes similar to that, thus evening it out.Where unbalance in that game comes from, if any is the overpowerred M16 and spawning system. |
