OOC Info: Name/Alias: Hikaru, Kaileb Gender: Female Contact Information: PM Other Characters: None
Are you sure you read all the rules?: When he goes vampire-slaying, the headmaster always wears his best dress and make-up. He likes to feel pretty while hunting for monsters in the sewers.
IC Description: Name: Kaileb Lee Alias/Nickname: Jinki (진기) Age: 16 Gender: Male Race and Level: Human Status: Dayclass
Appearance:
Kaileb Lee Appearance
Kaileb has a pretty average height of 173 cm and has a rather average body shape also. He isn't overly slim, but he's not wide either. Though he does lean more towards the slimmer side of the scale. Kaileb lacks in muscles and isn't very strong.
He has a sweet face isn't so girly he could be mistaken for one. While he facial features where cuter than most guys (that he had met anyway), his face was still masculine enough to not be called feminine. His hair is a dyed golden blonde color. It's straight and is rather short. His fringe only just covers his eyebrows when it's straight and the rest of his hair is too short to touch his neck, but it's still not almost shaved short. It's just an average short. When his hair is curly (which he has to style it to be) his fringe comes a bit above his eyebrows. His eyes are black in color as any average Asian's would be.
Kaileb also has a tattoo made from Henna, which he always re-applies every time it wears off. This tattoo is placed on his upper left arm, so is usually covered. The tattoo is his Korean name written in hungul (이 진기) half overlapping his birthday in roman numerals (IX XXIII). Both of which are written vertically down and in interesting fonts. It was inspired by one of Kim Jaejoong's tattoo's. Kaileb wanted to get it as an actual tattoo, but being only 16, he was too young so Henna would have to do for the mean time.
Kaileb likes to dress with colorful clothing - it's not that he's one of those people that just loves color, he just likes to stand out. At least one item of clothing has to be colorful. He also likes to wear a lot of layers. He'd always end up putting thing on another, on top of another. Since the Academy uniform wasn't as layered as he would have liked or as colorful as he wished, he didn't wear the white button up shirt and instead wore some colorful long sleeve shirt, with another different colored tee shirt over the top. He then wore the tie loosely and the vest and jacket unbuttoned. He also decided to wear colored sneakers instead of standard leather school shoes.
Personality:
Kaileb is a fun and kind person. He can also be very loving, if you end up in that kind of relationship with him. Kaileb is more often than not happy and always joking around. He's laid back and doesn't care about formalities or what not. He doesn't really like to follow the social norm either. If there was that one person that nobody would talk to or said not to talk to, he'd do exactly the opposite; he'd go talk to them the next time he saw them. If there was that table that you shouldn't sit at for lunch because one group that you shouldn't mess with always sit there, he'd go stand on the table and say something silly that would either make you annoyed, roll your eyes or laugh. Kaileb also does the same thing in class too. He would never wag class, but he would much around. He'd sit in ways he shouldn't, ask irrelevant questions and such. Often messing with the stricter teachers would place him in detention; though he didn't care. He didn't care about peoples opinions. Kaileb was just one of those people that you either got a long with really well, or you really just couldn't stand the guy. He always tried to be friends with everyone, but if you were one of those people that just couldn't stand him, he'd just mess with you anyway.
Well that's what he was like around people outside of home. Whether it be with his "family" in America, with his roommate at the Academy or just alone. He wasn't really the out-going idiot everyone thought him to be when in these places. He was usually one of two things. He was either extremely tired (being so happy and hyper all the time takes up energy!) or he was kinda grumpy. When with his family in America, he was very grumpy. They didn't give him the nicest feelings, so he was often grumpy around them and didn't really like talking to them. He was often like this in his room too. He probably wouldn't socialise much with his roommate if he had one. He'd either be sleeping or ignoring them and not saying much. If you were to catch him alone when his mood was like this, depending on just how grumpy or tired he was depended on whether or not he'd bother going back to the personality people knew him for. But if you were a close friend of his, whenever he was talking to you about what it's like at home you' get to see his grumpy, annoyed side more than others.
So basically he's usually a stupid, fun, outgoing idiot.
Other Information: * His birthday is on the 23rd of September * Kaileb doesn't actually know that much Japanese. He can speak basic/half-kinda-decent Korean (basically what you learn within 3 years of learning a language), and is fluent in English. * Kaileb has a huge love for Raspberry Fanta. He'll usually have a bottle of it on him.
IC Background: Biography:
Kaileb was born with the name Lee Jinki. But Kaileb's mother, Lee Yujin, was just a 18 year old that had ended up pregnant from a 1 time fling. Yujin's mother didn't want her to have the child, but she did. Her mother ended up sending her to stay with her cousins in America and she didn't want Yujin to come home until she had rid herself of the child. But Yujin still wanted to give birth to Jinki, even if she knew she would have to give him away. She figured that they'd still meet one day, somehow... maybe. Regardless she ended up giving birth to him and leaving him with the relatives she stayed with during her time in America and went back to Korea. But they didn't have the time to look after a child. They had jobs that required a lot of time and attention, so they ended up leaving him at the door of an acquaintances place.
Kaileb ended up thrown into a very white-American family. His father was now Grant Atkinson and his mother was now Karen Atkinson. He even had an older sister now, Amy. Grant and Amy didn't want them to keep the young Korean boy, but Karen felt sorry for him (and thought he was adorable) and managed to convince them to take him in. But it was under the conditions that he wasn't adopted into the family, they were simply his caregivers. So he would go by his real surname of Lee rather than their family name of Atkinson. Grant also didn't want to use his Asian name, so they settled with changing his name to Kaileb. Though Karen still managed to let him keep his Korean name as his middle name at least.
As Kaileb grew up, he grew to dislike his family. His father and sister in particular. Karen tried to be as nice as she could to him and side with him whenever Grant or Amy said something horrible against him. Though that didn't help to change his attitude to his family. He felt out of place there. Despite the fact he grew up with them, as an American boy, they still treated him as if he was stupid, or how they would an Asian who's second language was English. Sure his tone of voice when he spoke English was different from there's because he just had an Asian voice, but he was perfectly fluent in English only. He was getting better grades than they did in school, he wasn't stupid. He still got good marks despite his stupid behavior. The way they just treated him like an Asian (not even treating him specifically as a Korean. They couldn't even remember that he was Korean) irritated him. Because of the way things were at home, he was always grumpy, so to counter act that and not let it get to him all the time, he acted like an idiot at school and such, even from a young age.
The only person Kaileb truly felt comfortable around from a young age, up until this day is Jaime. Jaime Chen was a friend he had made when he was 6 or 7 years old. Jaime was a Mandarin Chinese girl who had moved from China to America for her fathers work. The two had clicked really easily and even if her English wasn't the best at the time, he seemed to have no trouble communicating and connecting with her. Over many years they had managed to gather a group of friends who loved all things Asian and all studied different Asian languages (obviously Kaileb was learning Korean) by the time they were in yr 8. But Kaileb always felt closest to Jaime. Those two would always be the best friends of the group. But that was it. They had often been told they should go out or whatever. Kaileb also told by some of his other friends that Jaime liked him and should start dating her, but he wasn't interest. For a couple of years (11-13 yrs old) Kaileb actually had one of those I-Have-A-Crush-On-My-Best-Friends-Older-Sister crushes.
As the years continued to pass, Kaileb couldn't stand being at home anymore and Grand and Amy couldn't stand having him around. At one point he had an argument with Grant and shouted, "If you really don't want me here that bad, then send me to a boarding school somewhere! Anywhere! Just not here." But little did he think his parents would, and would be so stupid to... send him to an academy in Japan. Just how many times did he have to tell Grant tat he was Korean and learning Korean and not Japanese or Chinese? Kaileb had little choice in the matter and ended up being forced to go to a school in Japan. They had decided to send him to Cross Academy because it was faraway and a rather well known school there. Or so the internet said...
So next thing he knew he had to leave his friends in America behind and begin an adventure in Japan.
Family and Other Important People:
Grant Atkinson * Father Karen Atkinson * Mother Amy Atkinson * Sister ---- Jaime Chen * Best Friend Linda Chen * Jaime's Older Sister (the one he used to have a crush on)
Items of Note: * A colorful flat bill hat Linda gave him when he was 12.
Character Goals: * To hopefully be able to fit in and some how manage to communicate with the people there. * This isn't really a goal, but he wouldn't mind trying to find his birth parents one day.
Powers, Abilities and Notable Skills: * He is really smart and actually manages to score high grades in class despite his stupid attitude in class. * Kaileb can do this thing where he can imitate a persons style of doing something after watching them do it once or twice - but his abilities in this can only go so far. This is usually with things like accents, general speech, hand gestures, sometimes drawing and style of dancing a certain dance. * He's a half decent gamer too.
RP Sample:
"Stupid Grant. He can't even tell the difference between Japan and Korea. When I said, send me anywhere, I didn't mean to Japan - or any other country I can't speak the language for! Geez..." He spoke as if complaining would go away. Though he knew it would. Urgh, he didn't want to go to Japan. Sure it'd be better then dealing with Grant and Amy, but he'd rather just move into a small apartment not far from where he was now. Or maybe even to Korea, where he could actually talk to them half-decently. But no, his father was an idiot and decided that he would be sent to Japan. With layering of clothing providing a comfortable surface to lie on the short grass, he looked at Jaime and then too the evening sky.
"Don't worry Kaileb, I'm sure there's an upside to this. Surely Japanese wouldn't be too hard to pick up if you've learned a decent amount of Korean. I heard that they're very similar. Similar words and sentence structure and such." Jaime said, trying to help Kaileb find an upside to all this. She looked down at him with a smile, hoping for him to feel better. He was only ever like this at home or in front of her. So many people had thought Kaileb and Jaime were dating, but they never had and never would, or so Kaileb said.
"Yeah yeah, I know that. But seriously, what about the kanji?! Korean's don't use Hanja, so I haven't learned them. I'm going into high school in Japan, I'm meant to know how many kanji by that age? Like 1000 or something?" Kaileb sat up with a very annoyed and concerned look on his face. How was he meant to deal with it all? Jaime just chuckled and took his hat off of him, holding it out of his reach. Her free hand moved to ruffle his hair and make it all messy. "Yaaa! Give me back my hat," he gave a pout on his lips for a cute expression hoping she'd give it back. He used one hand to reach out for it while the other combed his hair back to it's nice straight, flat state.
But Jaime continued to hold it out of his reach and simply giggled at his cute expression. "No, I'm not going to give it back until you start looking on the bright side of things. Communicating won't be as difficult as you think." Kaileb rest both his hands in his lap, giving up n grabbing his hat and kept his cute expression. "How so?" "Well you see, most Japanese people speak English because English is a standard part of their education, so communicating won't be as hard as you think. Plus if it's a great and amazing academy as it says it is, then there'll be plenty of people from around the world. Maybe even some Koreans. As for the kanji, just send me a photo in a text and I'll translate it for you. I'm awake most hours of the day and night, so don't worry about timezones. Since Kanji is Chinese characters, I can read them. I can also tutor you a bit on kanji before you leave. You still have a week to go right?"
Kaileb blinked at her, she had a point there. "Okay, I get it. Sounds good," he said rather normally. "Now gimme back my hat!"
