IC Description: Name: Ayden Markholt Age: 17 Gender: Male Race and Level: Human Status: Day Class Student

Appearance:
Being born to an American father and a Japanese mother seems to have given Ayden the best features of both the cultures. His father was the average 6’0”, blond hair, blue eyes, man who’s lanky figure seemed to pan out on occasion. His mother stood at a height of 5’2”, black hair, lean muscles, and was said to be one of the most beautiful girls of her time. When they got together and produced Ayden, no one would’ve thought that their features would blend together so nicely.
Ayden stands at a height of 5’4” and weighs a total of 118 pounds. Some would say that this is an unhealthy weight for a growing boy, but with his lanky build, and virtually no muscle, it isn’t unbelievable that a boy that looks as he does would weigh so little. His body appears in the lanky state of his father, but hidden within his thin build is his mother discreet non-muscular build. He’s weak when a person really thinks about it, but with the muscles he has, he uses them to their full potential, constantly working out to maintain his thin “carefree” figure.
His hair and eyes are something to behold when glancing his way. His eyes are one of the lightest shades of blue ever seen on a Japanese male. Large and almost always outlined in black mascara, they are the centerpieces of his face and the main attraction. Potently alluring to females and males alike; at least that’s what he’s been told. His hair naturally falls in layers to the nape of his neck in baby blue locks. He has naturally blond hair, but every two weeks he gets it touched up at a salon. He likes to believe that his boyishly blue hair adds to his childlike façade that he sometimes like to play.
The many piercings on his body are another thing to note about this boy’s appearance. He has many piercings in his ears and one piercing on the lower right of his lip. A chain linking that piercing to the cartilage of his right ear. Some would find such a display of self-mutilation repulsing, but Ayden finds the image exactly what he wants it to be. A bad boy with a sense of style; the piercings were all done with the permission of his father, and while he will be seen with very few while in school uniform, once the last school bell rings, it is a rare sight to see him without them.
When it comes to personal appearance, Ayden is very picky with the clothes he puts on his body. Just because he’s able to pull off “almost” any look a person could think of, doesn’t necessarily mean he wants to. He enjoys layered clothing, often wearing multiple shirts and a few pairs of jeans, torn in calculated places to enhance the look of each other. And while he hates to admit it; no outfit is complete without a pair of converse covering his feat.
Personality:
Ayden is often written off as a “clown” upon first meeting. His sense of humor being one that a lot of people can’t relate to, but it’s an amusing funny. He likes to talk about people’s interests in a philosophical manner, often asking way too many questions to be considered polite, but also making a person feel as though they’re the most interesting person he’s ever met. As a feminine male, he often looks for girls to be his friends, for he has more in common with them than his own gender in the human species.
Sarcastically amusing. Those two words were once a part of Ayden’s introduction of himself. His bright personality shining through with every word he says. He likes to make people laugh and loves to see people smiling, often going to extreme lengths to cheer up a person. When looking at him and taking in his appearance, it’s hard to believe that he doesn’t shy away from people, but instead is the exact opposite. He lives for human interaction, he lives for conversation, he lives so that can help whomever needs his help at the time. His intelligence is one of the things that is never questioned. He’s a genius of sorts, but doesn’t flaunt it like many students of the Night Class. Sure he likes the spotlight on him, but that’s in a different way, he would much rather learn about someone else than to boast about himself.
But while he has a cheerful front, there are a lot of flaws to Ayden’s personality. He suffers from fits of self-consciousness, his body never good enough and his thought process not fast enough, his life not worth living. If someone were to talk to him when he wasn’t in full control of his emotions, they would see a boy who was damaged early in life and is still trying to recover. The fact that his mother had left him as a child never quite wore off of him, her return only making it worse. He doesn’t trust many people, but is polite to them, making them think of him as a friend, though his thoughts might be on a whole other scale.
When it comes to things such as love and romance, Ayden is one of the most old-fashioned people a person could ever meet. He strongly believes that each girl is a treasure just waiting to be found. While he promotes girls being independent, and encourages everyone around him to follow what in their heart, there is no doubt in his mind that if he were to find the right girl, he would secure her hand in the only way he knows how. Marriage.
Other Information:
- Ayden holds dual-citizenship for Japan and America and will have to choose which country to claim full citizen’s rights when he turns 18. Currently he is leaning towards Japan. He grew up in Japan and it’s what he’s known his entire life. To him, Japan is the definition of “Home.”
- He spends about an hour every morning getting ready for school. While is definitely a straight male, he has many feminine qualities to him and cleanliness is one of them. Like a girl, he does his make-up on a daily basis, puts on his jewelry, and does his hair. He has an image to uphold and no while some would laugh at his habits, he brushes them to the side telling them that they have no idea what fashion is.
- His food pallet is very sensitive, so while most people love to eat things on the ends of the spectrum; sours, sweets, spicy, salty, etc. He prefers to not stray to far from the middle. When he cooks, it’s often described as bland and tasteless, but to him that’s what he was going for. Every now and then he finds combinations of spices that he enjoys, and a piece of candy every now and then is something that he enjoys.
- Choir is one of his favorite classes. His voice falling in the tenor range, and on a good day he would even be able to sing the alto part of most songs. He is the type of boy who tries out for almost every male solo, he likes to be in the spotlight, he likes to shine, and nothing makes him happier than to do well on his part in a song.
- Ayden enjoys watching classical Disney movies. While most people would think that this was a “girly” thing to say, he begs to disagree. He grew up with Disney, and as a kid he used to wish that he could be as strong as Hercules, as clever as Aladdin, or perhaps live in the jungle like Tarzan, all of which never really came true. Watching a Disney movie now is like a guilty pleasure of his and he starts every Saturday morning watching one.
- He loves music of every type but is partial to Alternative, Classical, and Pop.
IC Background: Biography:
He was born under the name Ayden Akihito Markholt on a cold day in November. The first few years of his life were rather uneventful, his mother had given up her life to take care of him, his father went to work everyday to provide for his family. They were a young couple and continued on hoping that everything would be okay, that they would find a way to make their mistake of a son work, but they were wrong. By the time Ayden was 3, his mother had left him and his father for another man, claiming that having a family was only holding her back, that she had dreams that she needed to fulfill and those dreams didn’t include the two of them.
After his mother’s departure, Ayden grew up fairly happy. His father didn’t understand his love of music at first and encouraged Ayden to take up a sport or perhaps the habbit of writing. For every birthday that he can remember, his father never failed to give him a leather bound journal, hoping that his son would have the same love for writing and the English language as he did himself. Travis was pleased to find that his son did enjoy the written language, but it was in a different way. Music.
Upon learning of his son’s interest in music, Travis did everything he could to encourage Ayden. Allowing him artistic freedom and paying for lessons that Ayden wanted to partake in. When his son joined the school sting ensemble, Travis was happy, when his son joined the jazz band, Travis was happy, but when his son had the audacity to join the Choir club, Travis could barely look at him. He had always promised himself that he wouldn’t be judgmental, but in his mind, singing was a girl thing and that wasn’t okay for his only son. Soon after Ayden’s decision to stick with singing, the two of them became very distant with each other. Travis encouraging his son from afar; Ayden finding ways to survive with no parental figures in his life.
When Ayden was 12, he spent a couple years living abroad in America under the watch of his grandparents. At the time he was participating in a foreign exchange program under the encouragement of his father who wanted Ayden to experience childhood in America, even if for only a few years. With Ayden’s dual-citizenship status, he wanted his son to have experienced both cultures before having to choose on his 18th birthday.
In America, Ayden had his musical horizons broadened. He had always loved music, but spending those years away from everything he knew had given him a new love. A teacher in America had been able to show him the beauty of being proud of his talent and had also made him realize his dream of someday becoming a Music teacher. It seemed fitting that he would want such a profession; resembling a mix of his mother and his father.
Upon returning to Japan, Ayden was brought the news that his mother had finally decided to come home. She had spent the past decade finding herself and had realized that her family was where she was meant to be. She had done well for herself in the working world, and while Ayden hold’s no ill feelings towards her, he doesn’t feel like getting too close to her from the fear that she might leave him again.
At age 16, Ayden began studying hard so that he may place high on the High School Admissions exams. Attending cram school so that he could guarantee acceptance into all the schools of his choice. He had scored well on his tests and when the pamphlets came out in the mail, he looked through each one and ultimately landed himself on a boarding school far enough from home that he would be granted a little freedom from his father and his father's girlfriend. Cross Academy.
Family and Other Important People:
- Travis – Ayden isn’t very close to his father. Sure the man raised him, and taught Ayden all he knows, but when the father seems to think one way and the son is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, than it’s not hard for them to stop talking to each other. Ayden finds it hard to express himself in front of his father, but knows that if it weren’t for the sacrifices Travis had made, than he wouldn’t be the man he is today. Travis is an English teacher at Tokyo University.
- Sachiko – The mother figure in Ayden’s life. Sachiko was only 20 when Ayden was born, and as such she still had a lot of living to do before she could settle down and raise her son. Ayden has never really been able to forgive her for walking out of his life when he was a child, but can’t help but love her at the same time. He has a lot in common with his mother, including his love of music, but finds it hard to trust her. Sachiko is a Music Producer for Sony Music Japan.
Items of Note:
- When Ayden came to the Academy, he brought a plethora of instruments with him. The most notable one being the acoustic guitar that is almost always attached to him in someway. He hasn’t mastered this instrument yet, but works on it every day.
- He has an electric upright bass in his room. While he prefers the feel of a traditional base sliding beneath his fingertips, the electric one is much more portable and he wouldn’t be as sad if it were to be broken. His bass at home is his baby and he could never live to see it ruined.
Character Goals:
- When everything is said and done, Ayden would want nothing more than to become a Music Teacher. Many would see this dream as laughable, and would see him as a guy who doesn’t see his true potential, but in all truth, being a teacher and helping students in a field that he loves is what he can see himself being truly happy doing.
Powers, Abilities and Notable Skills:
- A musical prodigy never comes without an amazing set of abilities. He is not only an amazing Bassist, but can also sing and is a fair player of the acoustic guitar. These things make up the most meaning in his life, music in general being the only thing that he has complete faith in. He practices for hours everyday on the Bass to sharpen his skills, while they came quite naturally, he knows how easily his musical ability could be taken away.
RP Sample:
Crystal blue eyes looked at the woman in front of him. He recognized her from the photos that his father kept around the house, but he didn’t know what to think of her. It was her, Sachiko, the woman who gave birth to him, raised him for the first couple years of his life and the abruptly disappeared.
“I’m back.” He heard her soft alto voice say as she stood from the kitchen table, her black dress falling gracefully over the natural curves of her body. “I’m home.” She said, her voice a bit smaller, her hand reaching for his father’s. As much as Ayden loved his father, he didn’t like the fact that his Dad was such a pushover. His father had let this woman walk back into his life without question, the woman had walked out on both of them and he was willing to let her back into his life; back into his heart?
“Welcome back.” His soft tenor voice came drifting across the room, refusing to take another step towards the woman who had abandoned him as a child. She didn’t care about him; she didn’t want to be his mother and he felt the same way about her. Turning his back to the pair in the kitchen, he took a few steps, his father’s voice freezing him where he stood. “That’s no way to greet your Mother.” His father’s voice was soft, but in it was the message that he didn’t approve of his treatment of this woman, just like he didn’t approve of his singing. His father had done his best to raise him right, but the man had no spine.
“I wasn’t greeting my mother. The woman standing in our kitchen is simply my Father’s girlfriend.” He said, a glare crossing his face as he looked over his shoulder at them. Feeling satisfied that they both seemed to be speechless, he turned back to the hallway, making his way to his room up the stairs. Once in his room, he locked the door and cried. She had left him; she had left him when he needed her the most. He didn’t hate her, but there was no way he would be expected to trust a woman of her despicable nature.
