Elyzabeth sat there, staring blankly at her text book. She hated studying. It was just so... boring. It didn't help that her faithful companion, Misty, had not been allowed to enter the Library. But if she wanted to have the grades she wanted, she would have to step it up a little... She read one line and slammed the book shut in frustration. There was no way she was ever going to Spanish or any of the other languages she wanted to learn. It was just too frustrating. Maybe if she could just find a good studying habut, she'd be able to have at least a B in the class but no. The blue eyed dayclass student couldn't find a good studying habit and therefore had a D in this class. She leaned back and reached a hand in her pocket, pulling out her phone, 5:15. Its amazing how tired you get when your super bored.Lyz could feel her mind slowly drifting off into a daydream haze. She was listening to her grandmother tell her legends, Misty purring in her lap. She shook her head and pulled some worksheets out of her folder. She blinked and started working. Spanish was too hard..... but she had to give it a try. For her grandmother. A clap, or maybe more of a thud; the sound of the book softly echoed past Takashi who was sitting only a fair distance away, taking refuge behind a small bookshelf. Lifting his eyes from his own books he peeked between the gaps created by the absence of a book or two, briefly searching for where it came from, and fixed his eyes on the woman. He could understand the whole mentality at a time like this: exams are coming up soon which meant reality was slowly but progressively starting to sink in. "If I don't pass this, I won't be able to do this or that!", Takashi himself fully knew how that was. It never helped that during this time, the sun was always beaming and yearning for you to come out. With clear blue skies and scorching heats and blasts of refreshing air... a luxury denied. Instead he tried to lock himself inside and sweat his way through word after word of 'studying'. It's almost like they do it on purpose to prevent everyone from enjoying themselves. But hey, life has an obstacle one way or another. ~*~ He picked himself up and, leaving his items, walked over to the other desk, fanning himself by puffing his shirt as he went. "You shouldn't try to force yourself to study, it never really sinks in when you're not in the right frame of mind," he quickly glances over to the book she was reading, giving a smile. "Especially when it's something as dreary as that." Takashi certainly was more confident than how he was a good few weeks ago, otherwise he'd still be sitting in that small corner of his. "You shouldn't feel so down about it though, I'm sure plenty of other people are in the same situation; the highest grade I'll be able to get in Computing is a C, and that's if I smash the exam with full marks. I didn't do so fantastic in the course throughout the year, but I reap what I sow, and I don't regret anything~" he says, still with that smile. |

"You shouldn't try to force yourself to study, it never really sinks in when you're not in the right frame of mind,"Especially when it's something as dreary as that."Elyzabeth looked up in surprise, finding a dark haired boy standing over her shoulder, looking at her Spanish textbook. He had a weird sort of smile on his face. She couldn't help but give a smile, sorta awkward smile back. If it distracted her from this, then fantastic. "You shouldn't feel so down about it though, I'm sure plenty of other people are in the same situation; the highest grade I'll be able to get in Computing is a C, and that's if I smash the exam with full marks. I didn't do so fantastic in the course throughout the year, but I reap what I sow, and I don't regret anything" She stared at him for a minute. He seemed pretty confident about what he was talking about. She gave a small laugh and shook her head. "Exactly. Your in computing. This is spanish...How could it possibly be this complicated" |

"Exactly. Your in computing. This is spanish... how could it possibly be this complicated?" Takashi gave a sincere chuckle, "You're learning an entirely new language, things like that can take years before you can become extremely fluent." He took a step away from her and gently inclined against the table, almost setting himself on top. "Here's a thought: I myself am more of a visual learner. I remember pictures and videos better, sounds too, even if not straight down to the exact word. Why don't you try watching some Spanish movies while having a book to refer to? I'm sure you'll enjoy it more than, well, staring at a book. It's kinda like watching paint dry but keeping track of time, isn't it?" As he explained he was making rather elaborate hand gestures to illustrate his point, the smile never leaving it's seat on his lips. As per usual Takashi was better at giving out advice rather than taking it for himself. It didn't help that if any videos on Computing was on the internet at all, it completely eluded him. Ah... I'm in so much trouble, gotta study more, he thought to himself as he imagines the road stretch far ahead of him. |

Another frown crossed her face as it seemed that he was laughing at her. "You're learning an entirely new language, things like that can take years before you can become extremely fluent." It had made much more sense in her head but obviously, learning a new language was alot harder than she had expected. She looked up at him as he took a step from her and leaned on the table, basically on top of it. "Here's a thought: I myself am more of a visual learner. I remember pictures and videos better, sounds too, even if not straight down to the exact word. Why don't you try watching some Spanish movies while having a book to refer to? I'm sure you'll enjoy it more than, well, staring at a book. It's kinda like watching paint dry but keeping track of time, isn't it?" Elyzabeth gave this some thought. "But, how do I even understand what their saying without getting totally lost?" Edited by Elyzabeth North, May 29 2012, 12:27 PM.

"But, how do I even understand what their saying without getting totally lost?" Takashi thought about that for a moment, knowing full-well where she was coming from. He used to watch shows that spoke in a different language and would eventually pick things up, but even then it was only the odd word here and there, parts of a broken sentence. "Well, I think you just have to keep watching and listening. Eventually you'll recognise a word when you hear it and then you'll be able to piece together the jist of what is being said." He recalls back now to his French lessons a few years ago in Junior School. Playing games and watching cartoons that were in the French language: he did little lower than average in the end, admittedly, though the subject was forced onto him rather than something of a free choice. Takashi raised a hand to tap up his glasses, "Granted, I don't know anything about the course, I can't imagine you need to know majorly complex phrases or words. Mostly things like keys, books, phone, supermarket. Words like those right? It could be easier if you use them here and there too. So if you're about to go home from school, quickly fire at yourself: 'What is Home in Spanish?' " He gave a brief shrug at that, chuckling once more. "That's just my coin toss for you, I'm really not too fantastic when it comes to studying myself, which is a real thorn in my side." |

OOC- I'm back! I'm alive! XD "Well, I think you just have to keep watching and listening. "That's just my coin toss for you, I'm really not too fantastic when it comes to studying myself, which is a real thorn in my side." Elyzabeth couldn't help but giggle. "So you can give studying advice but you can't do it yourself? Thats... interesting" She looked back down at her textbook then back at him, crossing her eyes and puffing out her cheeks before laughing again. "Thanks. I really do hate studying though. It doesn't really help that my cat was kicked out of the library too. She's like my best friend though I have a feeling she may like my friend Andreas better." |

Right. Takashi knew that his own life was more important than anyone else's. After all, he had to make the decisions for himself, not for other people -- what's the chance that he'll even stay in full contact with anyone he would meet here? It didn't matter, because he would much rather watch a life than live one out, like a certain figure up in the clouds perhaps. He didn't know why, there were plenty of possible reasons... but all of that is irrelevant at the end of the day. "Heh, yeah, I suppose I'm not one to give one hundred percent. Funny thing is, I'd gladly go and study if I were doing someone else's exam for them. Don't get me wrong, it would still be a major pain in the backside, but the fact that I'm doing it for someone makes the whole thing entirely different." He gives a small chuckle, raising a hand to tug on the collar of his shirt. "I would give you a hand too, if I had a knack for other languages. Doesn't seem to be the case though~" Cats were his favourite, at least of those concerning domestic pets. Takashi never had the opportunity to own one though, given the difficulty that would come from looking after one in the midst of their day-to-day schedules. His mother also had the paranoia, say, of the cat tearing apart the furniture. Doesn't help an awful lot. "Your cat was kicked? Hrm... maybe you could take it up with the Headmaster. He seems like a nice enough person to be able to negotiate with. And hey, cats will be cats, y'know? They behave in funny ways, but I don't doubt that they consider their owners to be the most important person. I had a friend, back in England, who had a cat that warmed up to me one day and even fell asleep on me. Next few times I came round he gave me the cold shoulder," he said with a laugh. "Still was the best cat I've ever known though." |

Elyzabeth couldn't help but chuckle. This boy was definetly helpful, but rather strange at the same time. Not to say she was normal herself, tending to act like a child quite often. Her white hair fell to her shoulder as she tilted her head and looked at him, lost in thought for a moment. It amazed her how people could give great advice, but often not take it themselves. It made her laugh, in all honesty. Lyz sat up straight and held out her hand, a grin across her face. "Lets make a deal. You help me and I'll help you." From experiance she knew it seemed easier and was always more fun to do something with someone rather than yourself. "But, I'm afraid I have to know you name first." she giggled "I'm Elyzabeth. But you can just call me Lyz if you like. Thats what most people seem to do." ooc- blegh its short. sorry suffering minor writers block lol |

Takashi being strange? It was a common thought for others. He had this certain thing in his head, perhaps just an open-mind set to the furthest extreme, that just let him see things in all different kinds of ways. Kind of like reflecting light from a disco ball and causing it to shoot off in all different angles, if he were the disco ball. Putting it into a context like that would make him sound crazy though. As Lyz straightened up and offered her hand, she had a grin on her face, almost cunningly so as she stated the rules of her contract prior to her introduction. He reciprocated and took her hand into his, shaking it gently, regardless of the fact that he had no idea what he needed help with specifically. "A deal, huh? Alright then. Sounds good," he said with a smirk of his own. "Although I'll have to ask, exactly, what're you going to help me with? Getting to know cats?" He gave her a smile and a slight nod of his head, "Nice t'meet you, Lyz -- it's a good name you have there -- I'm Takashi, though you can call me whatever you like. I'd have figured to have had a nickname by now, although I don't particularly get around a lot. I'm more the type to stay indoors when it's sunny, if you know what I mean." OOC: No worries about it. :1 |
