Lin Fen (Birth Name), Fen Munro (Previous Legal Name), Cat, Black Cat, Saru-San
19 (born 22/02/1995)
Human
Other; Graduated Academy Student, Cafe Waitress
- Fen holds a talent for languages and is rather multilingual considering her age. Speaking Mandarin as her first language, she's also grown up speaking Cantonese, Japanese and English and speaks all four languages fluently. - Fen also holds several relatively high grades in numerous martial arts having been training in each of them from a young age. She practices Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kendo, Wushu, and Kung Fu. On top of this, she has a notable skill in handling and using weaponry - swords, daggers, staffs and nunchuks alike. - Fen is rather talented musically also - able to sing, dance, play cello, qin and soon enough (once she learns it more) guitar. - With all the physical activity Fen partakes in, the combination of years of training in martial arts and dance, Fen is very quick and agile. She likes to practice and show off her parkour skills whenever possible. - Oh, and she can cook. Very well.
- Appearance; Fen probably wouldn't admit it, but she was a very attractive woman. She's a rather average height (having grown taller since she first enrolled at the academy) sitting at roughly 166cm, and has a rather average weight for her age group. Though unlike most girls, her weight doesn't come from her natural body weight as Fen is relatively slim, but while it's not obvious just looking at her, a good majority of her weight actually comes from muscle built up a lifetimes worth of martial arts training and playing sports. As much as she hates it she's actually got a pretty good amount of bust, especially for a young, slim Asian girl such as her self. You'd think she'd be the kind to have short hair, but realistically, Fen is too lazy to keep her hair short. She cut it short once when she was younger, but since then she got too lazy to keep it in a short cut so it ended up growing out into the rather long length it is now, coming a good way past her shoulders almost reaching mid-back. It's not obvious, but you can notice that she has dyed her hair with a purple tint to add an extra element to her naturally black hair. She tends to tie it back in a ponytail or back in a bun to keep it out of her face. Though she still likes the feeling of hair on her face so she does have a fringe long enough to cover her right eye. Fen's eyes are definitely note worthy, being a bright blue color they probably shouldn't be, considering her status as a normal human Japanese-Chinese girl. Resembling the color of a deep blue sea, they stand out from her otherwise average features.
Fen does have a scar on her back that she is very sensitive about so tends to dress very conservatively. She never shows her back and honestly doesn't like showing off her chest either so teeshirts are usually the best. Being as athletic and boyish as she is, she tends to prefer wearing trousers and shorts and it's very rare to see her in feminine clothing. In fact, she often wears men's clothing as she finds it a lot more comfortable. Fen has a jacket that she made for an Orihara Izaya cosplay she did once which she absolutely loves. Well Orihara Izaya is a character that she can tend to be very similar to, so she wears that jacket quite often. Fen also tends to wear boots more often than anything. Though these days, you can actually catch Fen wearing something a little bit more feminine - however she still tends to lean towards shorts rather than skirts.
- Personality; Fen is a very distinct personality. She's very often described as some form of animal, whether it be like a cat - a black one in particular, dark, agile, mysterious in the night - or like a monkey - climbing around being playful and toying around with you, possibly somewhat irritating. Needless to say, Fen was very cocky. She had a tendency to show off, whether it be her singing skills, dancing bailies, her athletic capability or how she could just kick ass in a fight. She enjoys a good challenge and more often than not will surpass peoples expectations of her -she is rather short, you don't really expect her to be that good at parkour - and beat whatever challenge given. So really, she did have a reason to be cocky, she knew she was talented in athletic and musical areas. On that note, she's not to be underestimated. She hates being underestimated and it only makes her push harder to prove herself. She may be small, but she is fast, agile and strong. Her reflexes were to be commended also. So in other words, she was almost trained to be a ninja, well it seems that way regardless.
Though while she had that dark, cool, almost mysterious seeming talent, didn't mean she didn't have a more playful side. Much like a cat. She had her cool moments, but then there was that plain cheeky side that was mischievous and playful, which, depending on your personality, could result in being a bit annoying. This is one of the sides that earned her the monkey title. She loved to pick on people in a playful way, nothing mean, just a little tease. She tended to prod and prod and liked to see if you got angry or not. Fen just tended to have mischievous moments, more often when she's meeting someone for the first couple of times.
Then past all this cockiness and even past her softer romantic nature, there's a very fragile side of the young girl. She's extremely touchy about her past. She hates her father for everything he'd done. She'd rather not talk about him. Fen is often haunted with nightmares of her past and occasionally get's flashbacks that cause her to freak out. If she comes across anyone that reminds her of her father, she'll throw a fit. When she has her anger outbursts she reminds herself so much of her father she can't bare to come outside for a while and can't look at her face. Then what makes it all worse is the scar on her back. She's extremely sensitive about the scar on her back and at times believes it to a certain degree, and hates it. It's a constant reminder of her father and a label of how she could only watch as her mother died in front of her, the rest of her family killed off over a matter of months, one by one. She doesn't like people knowing about it and if anyone see's it she'll scream and throw an upset fit at them. It's something she's ashamed to have. Though if she shows it to you willingly then you know your special, because she hardly even let's her own family (both intermediate when they were still alive and adopted alike) see it. Only Dan - before he died - had the advantage of seeing it willingly.

- History; Nothing had been easy for Fen, her whole life was a mess really. Fen was the middle child of the family, Dan and Shi having been born 6 years before her and her younger sister Xi 6 years after her. From a young age Fen found an interest martial arts and she started training in several almost from the moment she could walk. Growing up it was like their father filed them to become a perfect child in one way or another. Dan was brought up to be the perfect academic child, Shi the perfect social, popular personality and Fen the strong protector, and Xi was too young to be pushed in any direction at that point in time. While Fen enjoyed martial arts she never really liked her father, how he made them certain things and mostly how he cared for his wife, how they were progressing with becoming what he wanted them to be but how he didn't care about the cods. Song had never cared to have children, but at Shinju's request they ended up with quite a few but he didn't care for them. So things started off difficult for Fen, having to live up to her fathers expectations without any love from him.
Then when Fen was only 8, everything changed. It had been yet another night and Shinju was just putting Fen to bed. Just as Shinju stood up to leave the room she was stabbed through the head - at least it seemed. The murderer's face hadn't seen they were so fast, though their silhouette had been seen. Not even for a second (not sure if this is acceptable, but during the time Fen knew about vampires she did mention that vampires did have a similar 'aura' to that of the murderer of her mother? Not that it matters if they really were a vampire or not, she could simply have been confused). There was screaming and crying everywhere. Fen had leaped straight out of bed to check that her mother was okay, which she wasn't. Dan and Shi came in and to see what had happened but Shi had to turn away. Song came in infuriated. He'd trained Fen to be a protector but she had done nothing to stop the death, she may as well be the murderer. Well that's how Song saw it anyway. So he grabbed Fen by the shirt and dragged her to the kitchen, equip himself with a knife and cut the characters for murderer into her back. Dan and Shi had followed their father to see what he was going to do to their sister but finding him slicing into her back, Shi had to turn away while Dan couldn't bring himself to look away. The moment the father was done with the young girl, Dan got to work on aiding her wounds. Though there was only so much the 14 year old could do so the marks did scar quite badly, but he'd managed to keep it from getting any infections. At this point the kids had become scared of their fathers when the police came to inspect the scene, they decided not to tell the police about the incident with Fen's back. They were too scared to.
So the children continued living with their father who did nothing but work or laze around. He completely ignored the children and if they came close he'd hit them away. So Fen took on the motherly role, preparing food and Dan would be the one who would be the one to get money off their father to buy food with. This went on for two years before their father just vanished. So they packed up their things and handed themselves into an orphanage. They didn't have to stay there for too long much to Fen's liking, the four of them having been adopted by a young English couple. So they all moved over to Plymouth to live in their new house with new parents. They were kind and all of them took to liking them as their parents rather quickly. Though learning English had been difficult. They had already had to learn 3 languages grown up and they were only just getting used to them, now they had to learn another one?It hadn't been difficult for Xi as she was only just speaking by then anyway.
Fen had deal with a bit of teasing as she first started to learn English when she went to school, but she was a tough nut, so she didn't go down easily. If she was teased for her weird English she'd just kick the bully in the shin. So yeah, she grew up rather violent. Especially after she was out of elementary school (even if she wasn't being teased for her English anymore, having become fluent and speaking with a British accent). Fen was pretty chilled most of the time, but she had the tendency to end up in fights a lot. It became common for the girl to be stuck in detention and every now and then, even suspended. Any friends she tended to make, she'd eventually lose due to an emotional outburst expressed through violence and anger. So it wasn't unlikely for her to have to change schools so moved around quite a lot. As she grew older they lessened but they always ended up happening at some point regardless. With in the area she eventually became rather well known for her huge fights and earned herself a reputation and schools weren't so willing to accept her anymore, even though they were becoming a really rare occurrence. By this point in time Dan had moved to Korea, their mothers place of birth to finish his university years. So Fen ended up deciding to go live in Japan, to experience what it was like in her mother's country. Therefore, how she ended up in Cross Academy.
Fen no longer attends the academy, having graduated high school and been uninterested in attending university, however her time there is definitely note worthy. The beginning of her many adventures definitely began from the night she learned of vampire's existence. It changed her views on the famous night class quite a bit and during many encounters with members of the said class, she liked to challenge herself against them as it had come to her knowledge that many (not all) saw themselves above humans like herself - or at least found them annoying. She managed to form quite a few friendships within this special group of people, but for now, that's not important. A big change happened for Fen. Her life was torn to shreds and she went insane, barely scraping through alive. As of November, 2012, Fen's life became hell. Fen's brother Shi was murdered, with her father resurfacing, wanting to torment the 17 year old girl. He mutilated the young adult's body with cuts of a message reading something along the lines about how she would now understand how he'd felt when his wife was murdered and how it was her fault. Much similar to the event involving her brother, on the 30th of November, 2012, her 12 year old sister's head she'd found tied and hanging from the roof of her dorm room, the world 'scream' sliced into the forehead. Just after her attempt at suicide, the school had become aware of Fen's knowledge of vampires. Horrible timing, really. Right when she was in the middle of dealing with the concept that her family was going to be murdered she was whisked off to the headmasters office and had her memory erased and all the friends that had been helping and supporting her this far through, vanished off the face of the earth. All of them avoiding the girl at the pureblood's order. Fen was lucky enough to meet up with one of them, Kaoru, over Christmas, traveling up to Fen's brother's place in Hong Kong for the event. It all went wrong. Fen was confronted with her father and she could only watch frozen as her older brother died in front of her. Leaving her father the be her last living blood related family she had. It was only a matter of time before the end had finally come, her foster parents murdered on her 18th birthday, her father having committed suicide having been almost caught by the police and having felt he'd completed his task. Since then however, Fen had been adopted into one of the few friends that had stuck by her side's family. Mason and Fen had always had a sibling like relationship, it almost seemed perfect for her to become a part of the Reynolds family. Now, we come a close on Fen's story of her time at Cross, having graduated school early last year. She'd flown back to England, spending a lot of time there, living with the Reynolds before returning to Japan, working in a cafe in the town near the academy - a place she'd often visit during her years at the academy. Ever since then she's been having periods of time in each country, going back and forth. Now however, she plans on mostly settling down back in Japan, only going over to England for short periods of times on particular occasions.
