Two friends were laughing as they were eating out. One of them suddenly pointed to something. "That guy's an odd looking wolf, Innee?" His friend looked around. "What wolf?" he asked. The firsy one clicked his tongue. "E's right there, Jim." The second friend shook his head. "There's no one there, dude." The first friend shrugged. He was the only one who saw? Then maybe the wolf wasn't there. However, he thought he saw the wolf getting clearer. Suddenly, he fell off his seat. He had had a heart attack, and was dead before he hit the floor. His friend rushed to his side and one of the waiters called an ambulance, but it was already too late. Meanwhile, the wolf the friend had seen was real, and was holding his soul. "Hm, another one who simply disintegrates at my touch. I guess I should take him on before his soul completely disappears." The wolf was indeed very strange looking. He wore a shirt that covered only his upper chest. His pants cut off just above his bare feet. But what stood out most was the fact his left eye socket was just that: A socket. He had no eye at all and the skin around it was peeled back, as if decaying. His other eye was a bright, vivid green, which is strange for one of his profession. For this wolf was a Reaper of Souls, who normally have red eyes. The wolf was sitting on his scythe, which was hovering in the air high above the site where the friends had been eating. He sighed and flew off to take the soul to the afterlife. After a while, the wolf returned to the Reaper town and went to a restaurant to meet one of his own friends. While waiting for his friend, he scoffed at seeing a blue dragon girl with rainbow colored wings gliding along. She looked at him and groaned. These two reapers hated each other. The wolf's friend sat down. "Hey, Grimm, you look disappointed," the cat said. Grimm looked at his friend. "Of course Seto," he sighed. "Another reaping, another soul dissolving at my touch." he went back to staring at the girl. "Why are you looking at Midnight with an intent to kill?" Seto asked. "She reaped another 3 of my souls last night. She's always stealing my souls." Grimm growled in anger. "Nah, she didn't Grimm," Seto sighed. "You are the one who's always reaping HER souls. In fact, you steal souls from all of us. Most of us, including me, do not mind. It's less work for us. But 'Night took it upon herself to reap the female souls you refuse to touch. In addition, she doesn't appreciate being "helped", so you actually increased her workload. We've been over this several times, man." "I don't really care, I still see it as her stealing my souls." "Dude, give it a freakin' rest. I swear, one of these times you're gonna reap someone you're not supposed to and get yourself into a lot of trouble." Grimm giggled, a high-pitched, soothing sound. "Nothing can bring me down until I find the soul that doesn't fall apart at my touch. Ah well, I can sense another soul in need of reaping. I'll see you around, Seto~!" Grim got up and sat sideways on his scythe before flying off to return to the mortal world. Meanwhile, an old fox walked down the sidewalk on a cane. His grey hair was streaked with the blue that used to be his natural hair color. He looked as happy as he could be. This fox was once a hero to the people. His nine tails dragged on the ground behind him. He whistled a tune only he knew. He didn't notice a shadow appear behind him, nor that the shadow was getting more defined with every second, turning into Grimm. The old fox suddenly clutched his chest and fell over. Grimm smiled and swooped in, bringing his scythe down. But this is not how it would end for the fox. His hand shot up and grabbed the blade before it made contact and held it there. As he held the blade, time around them froze. He opened his eyes with a smile, and with a voice that sounded only in its twenties, he spoke directly to the wolf above him. "Kehehehe! I was hoping it would be you... and I will take revenge for my family!" The old fox cackled maniacally. "Re...revenge?" Grimm stammered. "You, you fool! My name is Blood Takanaka, a member of a family it is YOUR duty to reap! My mother, someone you were supposed to reap, had to possess the body of a mannequin, a DOLL, until another Reaper came for her so that she wouldn't disappear! Granted, this was before she was resurrected and I was born, but that is still ridiculous." As the old fox talked, his features changed, his grey hair turning blue and his face growing younger by the second. He looked at Grimm with anger. Grimm growled. "No matter. You forget. I'm a reaper. Your soul will be mine!" Grimm roared and the skin and muscle on the fox started to dissolve from the fingers, to the wrist, and down the arm. "Fool, you think I can be destroyed like that?" The fox simply smiled and the bodily destruction stopped and reversed itself. "Wha...?" "Look at me, I'm a vampire. I'm already DEAD! Of course you won't be able to reap me!" Grimm looked into the fox's bright blue eyes which turned red as the wolf looked at them. Before the reaper could look away, he felt a sharp, destructive pain in his chest. The vampire had made him stab himself with his own scythe. "G-geh!" The fox smiles and licked the bleeding wound. "Ah, your blood is more delicious than I thought. Now, it is time for me to absorb you, and your power." Blood grabbed Grimm and forced him into what many would mistake for a hug. However, if a reaper hugs a still breathing non-reaper, the weaker of the two gets absorbed, and by being stabbed with his own weapon, Grimm knew he had, after all, tried to reap the wrong person. As time resumed, Blood picked up his cane and smiled, a bloody scythe fastened to his back. His eyes had turned a bright teal color, and he resumed his walk down the street, spinning his cane and starting to whistle again. |
