Chapter 1: The Harrowing "Is it ready?" "And willing. Should we release it on them?" "Aye, before we change our minds, let it go. If none of them survive, we know the experiment failed." A fox boy with nine tails was sitting with his fourteen brothers. Each had the same face. Each had a number tattooed on his stomach. This boy's number was twelve. They were waiting for their father, a cat in his mid 50's, an employee of the mysterious underwater corporation known as "Blazing Waters". Twelve smiled at 9, his best friend among his brothers. Each had been trained in a different skill, 12 was good at firearms, especially magnums, while 9 exceeded with daggers and knives. Twelve also had another skill. He could jump so high that if he wasn't paying attention, he'd hit his head on the ceiling. Their father came rushing in with his bodyguard, a tall brute of a dog, and slammed the door shut behind himself. He panted heavily. "Boys... Boys, a monster got loose from the breeding pits... it has the form of a man, but... but it is too strong... it chased us here... we had to collapse the shield in the corridor to keep it out, the only way out of here... is the Elevator..." their father seemed panicked. This was unlike him. Number One stepped forward. Always headstrong, and overly confident, that one. Twelve did not like his arrogance. "Father," One said, "I'm certain we could take care of it. Boys, grab your motion trackers, it's likely we have to hunt this fucker down." Twelve sighed. One's arrogance would get him killed, get them all killed. Twelve hated the boy because he thought he was the leader, just because he was Number One. However, One was the Unarmed one, and twelve could never beat him hand-to-hand. However, arrogance was more than One's problem. One was so stupid, he decided he'd be the first to go out. Fifteen, the weakest, meekest, and most crybaby of the brothers, who absolutely idolized one, jumped into the elevator with his brother. Twelve sighed unhappily. Weak and crybabyish as 15 was, 12 liked him, if only a little. But 15 was sure to die since One only cared about himself, and would ditch the boy at his first chance. They were set up in the building's security room, so they watched what was going on after powering everything up. Twelve's worst fear were confirmed. Fifteen was sitting alone and crying at an intersection, while One was in another part of the building altogether. One kept moving, never looking back. That was probably his problem. A large, hooded figure snuck up behind him while he looked around. Arrogant bastard had left the motion tracker he reminded everyone to get. Everyone watched in horror as a long, bladed tail snuck out of the robe, then darted forward, and out One's chest. Twelve darted his eyes to the monitor that had shown Fifteen and gasped. There was a blood trail, but no sign of Fifteen anywhere. Two of the fifteen brothers seemed to have died, killed by this mysterious creature. Five stepped forward, and cracked his knuckles. "Stupid bastard. made the mistake of hurting on ow my Brothers. Come on boys, let's get that thing." Five was more of a leader than one. Charismatic, smart, and powerful in most aspects, even Twelve looked up to him. Twelve, though, was the smartest of the brothers. Five continued, "Ok, three, Four, Six, Seven, !0, and 13, come on, let's go boys." Five led his six brothers onto the elevator and disappeared on the trek down. Five was smart, he took a motion tracker. The rest watched the group. They explored the deserted hallways in a group. Five had an idea though. He split up, taking the double digits with him, going one way, while Three lead the others down another way. This was a bad idea, as Five had the only motion tracker of the group. Twelve watched sadly as 7, who wasn't paying attention, 7, the airhead, took a wrong turn and separated from the others. Then he watched in horror as 7 turned another wrong corner, right into the creature. The creature's blade sliced open 7's gut, and the boy fell over, trying to keep everything in. The next thing they saw, the beast jumped and disappeared from the cameras. Next to make a mistake was 4, the girly one. he noticed 7 was missing. Seven and Four had a special bond. So four backtracked and turned down the way to where he thought they lost seven. When he stumbled upon 7's body, he let out such a shrill, high pitched scream of terror and sadness, they heard it in the security room even though the monitors had no sound. Three and Six turned around and started running, but this was a fatal mistake. The blade dropped right in front of 6 and his neck was severed when he ran into it. Three met up with the shaking and crying Four before he realized Six wasn't following. Twelve tore his eyes from the screen and noticed something. He could see Eight, Nine, and Fourteen, but... "Where's Two?" he asked. Two was mentally unstable. Two kept spouting nonsense about all fifteen of them not being brothers, but clones of someone named Blood. That he had memories from this "Blood". Twelve hadn't noticed before because he rarely bothered with headcounts, but now that he though of it, he hadn't seen two in weeks. he turned back in time to see the beast get Three and Four both, killing them by removing their spines at the same time. Five's group also heard Four's scream, and arrived in time to see Three and Four die. Five let out a roar and charged, getting himself impaled by the blade. Eleven and Thirteen, cowards without their leader, tried to run, but two blades shot out and decapitated them. Twelve turned away again. "I can't take this anymore." Twelve walked over to a corner and set down. Nine walked over and sat with him, hugging his brother. Twelve barely registered it when Eight and fourteen were sent out. He barely registered it when their so-called "father" cursed loudly that the two were taken out quickly. But he did realize what was happening when Nine got up and grabbed his favorite knife off the floor. "No, brother, don't go!" Twelve pleaded, but Nine was already in the elevator. Their father scoffed. "Weak," the old man said. "You're all weak." Twelve roared and slammed his hand down on the monitoring equipment, breaking it and cutting off their screens. "Stupid old man, none of us are weak, and I'll prove it!" Twelve stormed to the elevator and got in. He rode it down and got out. Nine was nowhere to be seen, so he started exploring the hallways. He then spun around quickly and saw the creature. He knew what he had to do. "Two, calm down, it's me, Twelve," he said. He pulled the robe off and gasped. The creature was naked. But Like Twelve thought, there was a large number two on his stomach. But it wasn't the two he knew. Number Two's body was altered, changed. Each of his tails had a different blade on it. His face was monstrous and had a metal plate where his eye should have been. His stomach, near the 2, looked like it was trying to grow an exoskeleton. The creature laughed painfully. "Ah.. Twelve... as I thought, you figured it out," the creature that had been his brother said. His voice was different, distant, it sounded like a ghost's, and was deeper than it used to be. "You always were... the smart one. I knew you'd be the one to figure it out... the one to kill me." "If you wanted to die, why kill the others?" "The others were... weak... incomplete... They had to be culled... you are perfection... you are the best of us... the true clone... you are... Blood." "What about One? He was stronger than me!" "One was... an ass... his personality... would never let... him be the true Blood... I have... the memories... I am... His dementia... you are... the closest to... the real thing..." "So... what?" "Twelve... you are smart... you are charismatic... you.. use magnums, as The Original did... You must... kill me, before I lose... all of myself... and try... to... kill.. you." "I'm sorry, then... brother..." Twelve walked over and snapped his brother's neck. |

Chapter 2, New Beginnings Twelve gasped as he woke up, the sun shining bright in his eyes. He hadn't dreamed about his brothers since he came to the surface. But he remembered clearly what happened next... The elevator was out, so Twelve walked to the corridor they collapsed. He swam through and reactivated the shield beforw walking into the room to confront his "father". "We need to talk, old man," Twelve said. The bodyguard drew his Desert Eagle, but Twelve quickly disarmed him and took the desert eagle for himself. The old cat sat down and smiled. "Then talk. I assume you figured out it was Number Two, didn't you, Number Twelve?" "And more. YOU took Two and made him into that monster as a test for us. You released him, but you had to escape here as quick as you could because Two was out of control and tried to kill you for what you did. I also figured out WHY. The cloning process was all wrong. Two had memories of The Original. He was too close to the truth for your liking. So that's why you abducted him when he made the mistake of coming to you to ask your advice, you didn't want to risk one of us believing him." The bodyguard pulled out another gun and Twelve disarmed him again. "Calm down, asshole, I said I was here to TALK." "Hm, you're right Number Twelve, or should I say, Blood? You are the correct clone, you beat Number Two and pieced everything together. You are the new Blood. We wanted a new Blood so we could control more of the world. Blood was a powerful hero when he was alive who made only one mistake that cost him his life." "Fine. You want a new Blood, you have one." Twelve had lied. After seeing the atrocities the Blazing Waters Corporation had committed, after seeing what happened to Number Two, he decided to to anything to escape. After working for them for a year, he was allowed to go to the surface. He saw his chance and immediately killed his handlers and escaped when he got topside. He met a girl named Kokonoe on the surface. She was the head of a rival company, a fox who was as beautiful as she was stern. She helped Twelve. He took his given name of Blood and joined her company. While she was out for a meeting, he had fallen asleep on the grass, looking at the sky. It had been two years since he came topside. The boy looked around. he was still getting used to the fact he was not locked under Five thousand pounds of water. His home was, at his request, built in a tree. He enjoyed jumping freely up into the tree. He sat up and noticed Kokonoe sitting next to him. "Bout time," she said. "Been waiting here an hour. Ready to go back?" Twelve stood up rubbing his eyes. "Mm, yes, Mistress. Let's go." "Don't call me that. You're not a slave." She got up and led him back to their company. It was named Blades of Fire, and was very different from the other one. "I finally got them to listen to reason. They'll hear your story. We're one step closer to getting rid of that stupid company." Twelve laughed. "I'm not naive. You want to close them down so you can buy out the competition. And frankly, I don't care. After what Kiro did to my brothers, I. Do. Not. Care what happens to him. I think he deserves to die, honestly." "I understand. And I know you're not stupid or naive. Anyway, you have a job. Someone's been raiding our supplies lately. I want you to find out who and stop them." Twelve nodded. "Sounds fun. I'll get on it." |
