nigga i'll MAKE it serious business.
1. most of our member can't fathom drama of any sort. hence why i've basically resorted to force-feed them drama this semester, i.e. garei-zero.
2. our members seem to love nothing more than moe slice of life or shonen.
3. if you want mecha then im willing to compromise. we'll either show code pizza-butt or star driver, you choose. 10% mecha, 10% skirts, 30% win, 50% FABULOUS.

I personally love the action, mecha type shows, like the gundams Danny carries around. The comedies I also found to be enjoyable for me: shows like FMP & Rurouni Kenshin have been my most memorable to date, mainly because they both have the blend of action & comedy. The other comedies that so far caught my attention the past months have been the Romantic ones called "Love Hina" & "Negima", yet I've not started on them yet.
I can still remember asking Mr. Marine (or Beaner aka Eddie for our older members) asking him about the Love Hina anime: at first he ranted the typical "It sucks" a bit, but quickly took it back and thought about it, saying "it not bad. Its pretty good, just that the manga was better." After that, I started with the first 4 episodes, although its been months since the last episode.
I want to watch the other comedies Azumanga & Negima: I caught the first 5 minutes for azumanga ep. 1, but had to stop for other things, while I want to ask Butterfly which version of Negima he recommends for me. I guess I'll stop for the moment until I can remember what else I wanted to say.
P.S.: Which was Lucky Star. Honestly, I was not feeling the love for the show when we showed it at the meetings years ago, but I think it was because I was never into shows "Seinfeld" or "Friends" growing up. In fact, both shows were on a "don't give a damn about" list in my head, and I was seeing the similarities between Lucky Star & Seinfeld. However, after it was licensed I tuned back to episode 1 and discovered that the "moe & slice of life" show is surprisingly fascinating. It must be because I understand and get what the it is the girls talk about when it comes to those mundane stuff like anime & video games and life in general. I know some members don't want to watch it, but for me, its addicting to listen to them, especially the ones with Konata & Kagami together. Which reminds me, years ago (in 2000) Toonami was showing the then "unseen" S & SuperS seasons of Sailormoon. There's a scene where the show references "Shin Chan", but because no one showed it I doubt anyone besides me was confused as hell about it: It looked like...well, never mind. Years later, and after watching Shin Chan on adult swim, Lucky Star makes a reference to it (specifically by Konata), except this time I recognize it and smiled. I can't say why exactly, but there was something really cute in hearing Wendee Lee's impression of Laura Bailey's "Potato stuck in your throat" Shin Chan voice. When it comes to series like Lucky Star or Haruhi, yes I watch the dubs and I know some of us don't like certain dubs: So Sue Me.

lucky star was pretty shitty during its first few episodes, minus lucky channel of course. that was made of pure sex. the show was so bad during those few episodes that the director or whatever was fired and they got someone new.

There's very few worthwhile mecha series. I suppose if you could get Dai-Guard, I'd be on board.

Screw it - Gundam 00. Ricky had it on at Robo Gato and it looked pretty interesting. Regardless of whether or not we're watching it in here, I'm gonna start looking for a torrent before AT&T and Comcast go Nazi on our internet in May.

How about some old school stuff? Something like Space Battleship Yamato or Captain Harlock could provide a nice balance to the more current anime we already watch, and as something of an added bonus these are old enough that unless we actually went digging for them odds are good most people haven't seen them aired on TV here. We could also try for something with a different spin altogether, like Galaxy Express 999, just to see if it takes with the group.

As for a Gundam series, I'd be up for that. I know that state side Zeta and Double Zeta have not aired on Cartoon Network, although both are long. Gundam 00 is also and option, as is Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. Also, keep in mind that some of these series are really long, and we only meet once a week officially for the anime (though I grant we usually chill in the same spot anyway, so we meet in an unofficial capacity all the time), and as a result adding a series with 50+ or 60+ episodes may be a bad idea in the long run unless we double up on the episodes shown.

the fact that we rarely meet, i.e. fridays only, makes me want to shy away from anime over 24 episodes. and guys, keep in mind that if you bring up a suggestion for anime you HAVE to have it in one way or form yourselves already. if its not something i have already i might not bother even looking for it. mostly because some series are nearly impossible to find complete. a good example of this is gegege no kitaro, the older season and even the newer one.

If it for mechas, we can watch the new movies for evangelion, they are quite new and fucking amazing. In summary they are 2 movies which are worth 8 episodes. Other than that, maybe something like outlaw star? I was enjoying that one but really dunno how long it is

Wikipedia says Outlaw Star is 26 episodes in length. Don't know if that includes or excludes any episodes shown on Toonami.
