When I first saw this topic, I wanted to equip the topic maker with a flame shield since WoW is pretty much like at Taboo in this group... I remember one time mentioning it, next thing I know, I get ambushed by all the FFXI players in the group.

That and there was that very nasty prank pulled on Mr. President's Computer where someone in the group download WoW on his computer; next thing you know, it crashes.

That's right, WoW destroys not only lives, but computers as well!

I've been wanting to use that sound byte for a while... :) Too bad I can't figure out how to link videos right... That said, I do admit I'm an on again, off again WoW player...

FLAME SHIELD ACTIVATE!

A lot of this shit sounds like it's being made up for no reason. How the fuck would WoW crash someone's laptop? I've installed it on three different computers and it's never caused any problems.

If his laptop is a piece of shit, I guess I could understand, but aside from that, that's just stupid.

i doubt its being made up for no reason. like this one time, matt lightly touched frenchie's laptop and made it bluescreen. and before you say his laptop is shit, believe me it was anything BUT shit.

I didn't say his laptop WAS shit, I was saying that IF it was, it would make sense. But now that I know, it sounds stupid that installing a game would have crashed it.

It wasn't the game, it was a desktop theme that had really loud, annoying effects on it for f-in' EVERYTHING you wanted to do. The theme integrated into the shell in a way that if you didn't have the uninstaller, Windows didn't know what the hell to do. Of course, someone just ninja-ing the damn thing on there while I went for lunch forgot to tell me about it.

So yeah, started removing elements of the theme, bluescreen, crash, repeat. Ended up having to reboot the damn system.

I still remind Chris about it, he had to make that up to me at a later date. BTW - he's been placed on WoW rehabilitation. The horde lost the fight against his wife, and she now has proprietary rights over his soul.

I'll be honest, I never gave the game a fair shot. FFXI fanboys piss me off just as much as the WoW fanboys, but I always had to hear their bitching about how much harder/unfair XI was. If they don't like it that much, do I really have to hear it in the middle of a XP party? Most couldn't hack it past level 18 and went back to WoW. Not saying all of them are like that, but the ones I have met...ugh. Need I remind the rest of the room about Mr. Kitty and Ramon? Then again, the criticisms of WoW, from people playing FFXI or not, sound exactly like those condescending rants that we all learned to hate.

So really, the fanboy crap is getting old guys. If you like it, cool. If not, just keep it to yourselves. I think sometimes it goes beyond a joke and people start believing this crap religiously. In the end, both games are on their way out.

I didn't mean to come across as a fanboy. It was never my intention. The only question I wanted answered was whether or not anyone played it. I guess I know now, but in the future...I guess I just won't ask questions if they become a hassle.

That wasn't so much a reference to you as it was to our experiences in the past. Summarizing the last post simply, we had some really bad experiences with WoW players not too long ago, so it kinda left a bad taste in our mouth for it. I just find it ironic how some are picking up the same behaviors that turned them off in the first place.

Are you kidding me Sanjo? Before you came, the thread were pretty much dead, but since you have been here, we have been more active now than we have for the last month or so.

You have to remember that this group will have haters, but at the end of the day, we all still respect each longer just long enough to not try and kill each other.

*flame shield still equipped*

Matt,

Should I lock this thread? This is what I was trying to avoid, the first time around, when I locked it originally.
