Being since my last topic was an utter flop, I decided to start a poll on something we can all talk about. Vidya on the go. With the majority of the group either owning a Nintendo DS or Sony PlayStation Portable [and on some occasions, both consoles] and with much talk about upcoming titles for the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft XBox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles, I thought a discussion on contemporary handheld game consoles was in order. With that, I have to ask: What's your favorite handheld game console?? Is it Nintendo's DS, or Sony's PSP?? My honest opinion?? After owning a DS for almost three years, I can safely say that even after acquiring the DS Homebrew, that it is average at best because hay, it's Mario. As for the PSP?? Well, after owning [a refurbished] one for just two days, It's too soon for me to have an honest opinion, but from what I've messed with [mostly .mp3 and video playback, since I don't own any games, yet] I can safely say that it's quite a fantastic handheld, specifically its fantastic, backlit screen. [Hey, it's pretty fuckin' big for a handheld!] I am greatly looking forward to playing such titles as Final Fantasy Dissidia, Monster Hunter and Disgaea as I think they'd be worth playing. |

I've got both. With something as simple as a mod card, and the entire DS Library now open for my Right Click-> Saving pleasure, I haven't found any games worth adding in a LONG time. What games I DO have on there, aren't even from here. So if I had to pick based on overall, I'm sticking with the PSP. At least when the good stuff gets ported, it isn't mutilated like Elite Beat Agents. Fun game, but a mockery when you've seen the glory it was in JPN. And now that Rube's got money for a PSP, he can pay the group back for that mod card now. This is turning out to be a GREAT week!!! |

Actually, it was an early birthday gift from my dad. Don't worry, I'll spot you for the DS Mod card on Friday. As for my PSP?? The next step is modding the motherfucker as I don't have any games to play, yet. |

It's a tie between two consoles. The DS Lite and the GBA in general. I loved the DS lites capability of going backward toward the GBA however I did not like how it could only go back that far. That is why the GBA is tied with that. |

Yeah, that drove me nuts. I STILL have those old games. What's even worse is that Nintendo reported that adding the software to the DS for full backward capability would have priced the DS 30 bucks higher. I hate it when they give us sub-par technology just to save a few bucks. Most really don't mind paying a little more for the convenience. |
