"Don't talk about yourself like that, and Bixro was an irritating piece of dung" Tharien said irritably, bopping Aerendis on the head with a small fist as he wandered around, stopping when he realised he had no idea where he was going, or indeed what to look for. "How about you go ask? I'll go in that tavern over there and get something to drink, maybe we can even have some food, if there's anything worth eating in there" he said rather imperiously, waving his hand dismissively, though the half grin on his face would show that he was just joking. That said he wandered into the tavern and sat down, ordering something light and warm to begin with, since he wasn't sure what the Paladin's preferences were and it was always nice to cradle a mug of warm drink. |

"Drink?" Pensively he followed Tharien into the tavern sitting next to him, from outside the smell of food and drink was light but was much heavier as they entered. It wasn't quite as busy as one would expect but that allowed for some strange faces to show through. "I don't eat or drink and I can't say I remember ever having done so." The wizard got his drink and Aerendis waved off the servant staring at a person wandering around in the tavern who wore armor much like the paladin's and wielded a drow long knife. It's appearance was not frightening just disturbing with it being the size of a two handed blade lined with hooks and serrated edges all ebony as dark as the Feydark. Above all that the most catching feature of the person was that it was human a presumably young one with short flat brown hair and green eyes. "Tharien I think that's a human... they have weird eyes." He said quietly while poking him for his attention. |

"Well then, you're boring" Tharien declared as he ordered some bread, nuts and cheese to go with the drink "Just because you don't have to do something doesn't mean you shouldn't" he waved a hand emphatically before taking a long draw of his drink, sighing in appreciation at the flavour and sensation. The small wizard turned his attention to where his companion was indicating, staring unabashedly at the human, the first he had ever seen, though he had read about them, and seen sketches, but really, it was nothing compared to seeing them in real life. "Forget about the eyes, look at those ears...and that weapon" he whispered back, the first bringing a slight bit of disgusted curiousity to his tone, the second was just plain disgust. "I knew an eladrin once who had had his ear tips cut off, and they kinda looked like that.." he murmured as his food was placed in front of him, the scents soon catching his attention as he began eating slowly, enjoying the luxury of it. |

The hushed whispers drew the warrior's attention as his eyes met theirs he began to walk over shyly waving before asserting himself. "Pardon my imposition but you're the first two to have spared me even a glance. My weapon doesn't appear to be helping matters none either why I'm not even sure, can you two can understand me?" After speaking he set down a piece of parchment with strange looking rigid characters on it unlike the smooth graceful elvish alphabet. "Nobody around here can read my note otherwise I'd post it which is why I come to others first hand." Setting down a perfectly topaz cut twilight diamond on the table the human continued to speak but Aerendis' eyes watched the undulating thunderstorm trapped within the purple gem. "If you'll help me I'll give you this though of it's worth I'm not sure or even concerned. My money is no good here so will you help?" |

Tharien pursed his lips as the human approached, unsure of what the creature would want with them, but he kept silent, letting him speak his piece before deciding how to respond. Eventually, curiousity got the better of him and he took hold of the parchment in the human's hand, looking at it to see if it was something he could recognise and maybe even translate. The small wizard, being his rather abrupt self, left the talking to his companion as he studied the characters written before him |

Picking up the gem for a moment he remained silent creating a tension with the human as it waited for a response and just when he was about to speak again Aerendis commented. "If it's ok with my friend here we'll take this off of you depending on what you would have us do." The parchment was untranslatable by Tharien as it was written in Riedran the language of humans though the person in question spoke the commonly known language fluently. "There's a shrine on this island that serves as a go between from Xen'drik to Aerenal to here. Xen'drik is closest to the land of man and that's where I want to return but the shrine wont let me pass." Turning to the wizard he eyed the parchment for a moment before blinking thinking he might have been able to recognize some letters but they were all blocky and annoying to look at. "I'd rather not go back to Aerenal so I'm not going to follow you through the shrine considering we're able to get you through it. What do you think Tharien?" |

Tharien snorted at the writing, he couldn't translate it into a language he actually understood, but it was just a human tongue so the only reason it bothered him was his desire to be able to know what was written. Throwing the parchment on the table he picked up the gem, staring at it for a moment before waving the fingers of his free hand over it and making it seemingly disappear. In fact the purple gem had simply been deposited in his bespelled pouch, which couldn't be seen or touched by anyone but him. "We might as well take it there, humans don't belong here anyway" Tharien answered, before turning to face the aforementioned human "We'll try and help you through, but we're keeping the gem regardless of whether or not we suceed. You already have one too many trophies of the Fey..." he pointed at the man's weapon, "which actually surprises me, since that sort of thing can get you killed" Dropping a few coins on the table, he got up and headed out of the tavern "Lets go" |

"I've been meaning to ask what the big deal with my weapon was." The human followed behind Aerendis as they left the place stepping out onto the marble walkway. It was much brighter outside than inside due to all the reflective surfaces giving the city a coat of luster. "Anyways I've been told if we follow the main path it goes up and around to a cave where the shrine is. It used to be how people got around Majharn I guess." |

"Its Drow" Tharien said matter of factly as they walked along the main road, as if that single phrase answered the human's question, which, at least to any inhabitant of the Fey old or concious enough to have a sense of self, it did. The small wizard couldn't help but wonder why his companion was being so quiet about the whole thing, once again letting him take the lead, but then, the other eladrin was a bit of a curiousity to him still, very different from anyone they had ever met. Caught in his thoughts, unless either of the others interrupted, he would soon realise that he had missed the trip to the shrine, having been caught up in his musings. |

They walked the path in silence, Tharien in his thoughts and Aerendis having nothing to say only doing this for the sake of fair trade. He corrected Tharien's direction as their turn to the cave was coming up they followed the spiral path and it came around to a quaint altar carved of black marble with an open spell book made of marble, Corellon's star was present on the roof of the cave. It was more like a shallow alcove than a cave and it reacted to the elves shimmering open a purple portal from which a sense of darkness spewed forth not unlike the waterfall cavern's. "It hasn't been reacting to anyone because it's for us." Aerendis said flatly motioning for the human to stand where he was. "You'll have to wait for our return before you can use this again." Wielding his war hammer with both hands he stepped into the portal without regard and waited on the other side for Tharien. Inside the portal was the same shrine they'd been to before carved of stone though the statues of hooded Eladrin were now carved in black and white marble. Their challenge appeared as two human male gladiators with short swords both of them rushing Aerendis only to be parried and fended off. |

Tharien sighed slightly at the familiar feeling emanating from the portal, "Ugh...wait here human. It would be better if you didn't wander off, someone might take offense to your continued existence and decide to do something about it" he said casually, as if he were not talking about the man's possible death. The moment he exited the portal he took in their opponents for this particular test. With a flicking motion of his hand his staff appeared. Quite casually he sent two magic missiles at the nearest gladiator, remembering the last time he had been in a place like this that the only way out was to end their foes. "Its almost tempting to just off myself now rather than deal with pushy gods" he said to his companion irreverently. |

"You'd off yourself and leave me to deal with them alone?" Aerendis said as he watched the wizard's missiles plow through one of the gladiators reducing him to a bloodied state but not killing him. Following behind the attack he swung his war hammer only to have it caught by the handle stopping the attack which was a surprising outcome. This allowed the other gladiator to attack the paladin from behind while the one in front slashed at his face, Aerendis snapped his head back just narrowly dodging the blade but another was still coming towards the nape of his neck. Tilting his head to the side allowed it to nick him consequently slicing his hair restraint. His waist length deep blue hair fanned outward like a blossoming flower distracting the still standing gladiator from making his mark with his secondary attack. |

The small Eladrin frowned at Aerendis' comment even as his spells crashed into his target, nearly finishing the gladiator off. "Well, I could always kill you first if you'd like" he offered, his voice heavy with humour, which would tell the Paladin that he was joking. Muttering a short phrase, a ball of magic formed in the wizard's hand, the spell a glimmering silver colour as it rested innocently in his small hand. With a flick of the wrist he sent the Force Orb at the uninjured gladiator, concentrating so that the resulting shards would not harm his companion, but still hopefully finish off the mostly dead opponent as well. |

The explosion of the orb staggered it's main target and cut into it's secondary target allowing Aerendis to step away and spin on his heel with full force and a certain indignation such that when it met with his target's torso he completely blew it off covering the room in blood splatter. His hammer was swung so greatly that he spun around two or three times more trying to stop it's momentum before falling onto his back side. In shock at what had just happened the bloodied dying but not yet dead gladiator sat on the floor waiting for death. |

Tharien blinked in surprise as Aerendis managed to splatter one of their opponents into a fine goo, certainly this was a different experience to their previous test, the paladin surely would have been dead were it not a fight organised by a god. "Well then..." he murmured to himself, before flinging another magic missile at the remaining gladiator. If that did not kill it, he would send another one at his target, hoping to end this fight quickly now. |

The spell easily dispatched the weakened frightened foe and subsequently a small chest fell at the center of the room popping open to reveal a magic map and a paltry amount of gold. No sooner did the next series of foes teleport into the area. Two Zairtail raptors with mystical runes all over their hides and floating next to them what looked like fangs controlled by their gestures. Upon seeing Tharien and Aerendis the floating teeth zoomed towards them raking them with sharp scratches. |

Tharien cursed at the scratch, more annoyed than hurt, but since he had left his mother's house he had enjoyed the freedom that came with it, and had become considerably more 'coarse' than he used to be. Speaking words of power, the wizard cast force orb, hurling the spell at the nearest raptor, his green eyes burning slightly with his annoyance at the creatures for daring to cause him harm. To make sure he damaged his enemy, he would send a magic missile flying towards the raptor if it still lived, hoping that between them, the two Eladrin could swiftly take down their foes before they caused too much damage |

The orb flew filled with his annoyance exploding much more fiercely than a casual casting of the spell, it's shards cut into both of the raptors knocking one down leading Aerendis to target the still standing one. Pointing his finger at the raptor he closed his eyes for a moment and a beam of light shot out of the ground under the creature however it had leaped away the moment Aerendis pointed at it. Teeth again flurried around the paladin and wizard but Aerendis began to glow with a pale purple aura and clapped his hands together speaking in elvish. "Strike only me." The razor fangs instantly pointed towards the paladin raining on him doing no damage in the process to either him or Tharien. |

If Aerendis' ability had caused the Paladin any harm in Tharien's place, the smaller Eladrin would have been most displeased with his companion, but as it was, the other wasn't harmed so he was saved from Tharien's displeasure. Deciding to conserve his energy in case it was needed later, the wizard sent a magic missile at the downed raptor. If it survived, the second missile would strike it shortly after. If he killed it first try, he would send the second spell at the other raptor. |

Both missiles were needed to kill it ripping through it's body, the other raptor was still sure of itself. Aerendis with his hands still pressed together he focused realizing that by pointing he only telegraphed his attacks. "You who would harm a creature of the fey." Again the beam of light came out from under the raptor this time burning it but not killing it the light's glow considerably weaker. At this the Paladin fell to a kneeling position as the teeth raked his body. "Guess I overdid it." His hands glowed with the same pale purple aura as he pressed them against his chest causing what wounds the teeth made to close. Edited by Koori, Mar 16 2010, 08:13 AM.

"You're lucky you can heal yourself" Tharien murmured softly as he drew in a breath, he magic beginning to waft around him lazily, not visible, but certainly able to be sensed, the exhale making it ripple like a coat being shook to settle properly on its wearer. That done a few words and arcane gestures sent a force orb flying at the remaining raptor from the wizard's right hand, and a magic missile following soon after from his left. The teenage eladrin wasn't about to let Aerendis take more serious wounds than he already had, and so was determined to finish this fight as soon as he possibly could. |

The orb and missile missed the raptor even if it was weakened and it bobbed around on the spot seemingly taunting Tharien. Gritting his teeth Aerendis lifted his hammer and forced himself to his feet giving a mighty holler throwing his war hammer. "You're really pissing me off!" It spun sideways cleaving through the raptor causing it to explode much like the gladiator from before but it didn't stop there it smashed through two marble pillars behind the foe and lodged itself in the wall. Quickly and sheepishly Aerendis ran forward grabbing hold of his hammer which wasn't budging so he placed both his feet on the wall and began to tug with all his might. After what was left of the bodies disappeared another chest appeared this one larger sounding of coin as it dropped from it's short height and as usual more opponents appeared. Two Shadar-Kai strode into the room from a sliding door in the wall unlike delve monsters who teleported in. "Have a look here Myrissa we've been ordained to spar with a pair of fools." The fair skinned dark haired Shadar-Kai male said to his female counterpart. "Indeed." She responded as the male changed shape into a saber-tooth tiger |

He would have laughed at his companion's antics, he really would have, in fact, a small part of him was already filing away that memory to bring up at a later date so he could appreciate it fully, however, the Raptor had dodged both of his spells, as if it were nothing, and then these Shadar-Kai had the gall to mock the two Eladrin. "You are so dead" he growled out, his eyes beginning to glow with latent magic energy, his magic itself rippled now with his anger, spreading through the room as he released his hold on it, the tendrils of energy would leave a stinging sensation on his foes, even if it did no actual damage. The sharp edge of the shadowfell in his aura would be far more distinct in his pure rage at the two new enemies. With his robes and hair swaying in the breeze of his own power, the small wizard spat out a phrase, his fingers dancing through a few gestures. With a final barking word in Abyssal he pointed at the male Shadar-Kai imperiously, calling down a Flaming Sphere upon his foe. With a second gesture, the fiery orb would be sent towards their female foe. |

"This one's mad isn't he?" The male said ever so sure of himself until the female shouted at him. "Watch out for the fireball you idiot!" Had she not said anything it would have been a direct blow but since the cat moved to jump away from it he gained only a glancing blow. The female however had been hit with it and as it struck her she released her own magical aura to conflict with Tharien's. It was a fiery hellish aura telling of her infernal pact with a devil and also her attack on the wizard burning his mind with visions of hell. Turning around as he felt the fearsome aura Aerendis forsook his hammer pointing at the female with vigorous determination to get rid of the unholy atmosphere. His searing light attack was swallowed by her dark aura causing her only minor annoyance. This angered the paladin who was being charged at by the cat who leaped meeting an iron clad fist which knocked him aside. |

Tharien gritted his teeth beneath the pain of the female's aura, the visions he was being assaulted with wracking his mind. He concentrated his aura, trying to push back the infernal presence with his own fey one. His magic, a blending of the Shadowfell and Feywild from where his parents hailed, struck at the infernal aura with as much pressure as he could put on it, trying not only to defeat her, but defend himself. Snapping out a command in abyssal, the flaming sphere coming around from behind the female Shadar-kai, aiming to smash her from behind. A second command would have it strike again, the wizard trying to defeat his warlock foe before she could bring her powers to bear a second time. His anger and pain only fuelled his attack. |

The flaming sphere crashed into her from behind releasing her concentration and stopping the mental assault on Tharien but after rolling to avoid the second blow she tried to hit him with it again only to have his aura reflect her mental barrage against herself. She shrieked and grabbed her head writhing on the marble floor spitting curses at the wizard. "You dirty shadow dweller!" Feeling a little more relaxed now that Tharien's aura was dominating Aerendis ignored the tiger and rushed to his companion's side sure that she had hurt him somehow. Placing a hand on him he enveloped Tharien in a weak purple aura healing the trauma of his mind. The tiger of course took this opportunity to charge at Aerendis again only for the paladin to spin on his heel delivering a roundhouse kick that knocked it away. |

Tharien made a note to thank Aerendis later, feeling his headache rescind greatly, but for now, his concentration was focused on the warlock whom was the current target of his ire. "Shadow dweller? I'll give you shadow dweller!" he snarled, bringing forth every memory of his mother's power, how it felt, how it moved, how it tasted. This altered his magic to a similar, if weaker, version of what she could pour forth, the feywild aspect of his magic receeding in favour of the more agressive shadowfell energy. Even as his aura battered down on the warlock, the orb of fire raised shot at her again, zooming away to strike a second time, the fire itself infused with his shadowy power. Teeth bared in a snarl, the small wizard glared at his opponent in anger. |

The ball of flame crashed against her again and again until she had enough of fighting and uttered a sick sounding word in Supernal a demonic circle remaining where she was after shadows enveloped her. Aerendis returned to mending his friend once more then targeted the tiger walking up to it, it had not moved since he kicked it and raising a fist he brought it down towards the tiger only to spur it forward and crack the ground where it once lay. "Myrissa left me all alone eh? well ciao then I have no hope of defeating you if she's run." In much the same manner the tiger disappeared from the battle field and the demonic circle glowed orange bursting into flame sucking in Tharien's spell then suddenly it exploded blanketing the room in blinding light which settled down to reveal an angry phoenix. "Thought it might be rude to leave without a present." The female's voice echoed as the bird spread it's wings in a show of intimidation and shrieked. |

Tharien winced, both at the bright light and the loud screech. His anger wasn't so great that he would continue to rage, luckily, otherwise he probably would have done something stupid. As it was the wizard was faced with the prospect of fighting a phoenix, which he admitted could have been better. "Could have been worse though" he murmured to himself as he brought a hand up to wipe the sweat from his brow. Holding that last spell for as long as he did had really drained him, he only hoped he had enough energy to deal with this threat too. Drawing in a deep breath he focused on his father's essence, allowing the shadow power to bleed out of his aura in favour of the feywild. His hair and robes danced as though in a current of water as he brought the power down on the phoenix, a tired voice summoning forth an sphere of power in his hand. With a flick the force orb would be hurled at the new enemy, a magic missile following in its wake. The small eladrin only wondered how much longer he could hold up. |

It batted at the orb which flew towards it leaving it open for the missile which disappeared as it hit the bird but seemed to cause pain to it as it spat a stream of fire at the wizard. Aerendis could sense the changing of auras and was no fool in the presence of their new foe, walking to his hammer he calmly pulled it from the wall then walked back to the bird feeling the intense burning heat by being so close to it. Raising his weapon he bellowed while spinning delivering a blow to the burning bird's side and while it reeled he clocked it over the head with his hammer though it seemed to absorb the blows not showing signs of any particular damage beyond it's shrieks. After being struck it jumped back then flew into the air preparing to dive bomb the two but it obviously did not take into account the ceiling which it crashed into then landed on it's feet wobbling around in a daze.
