Tharien growled at the necromancer, the man's filthy magic rolling across his senses like pure shit being thrown against him, tainted and diseased with the death magic that he practiced. With a snarl he brought his own magic to bear, the edge of power and hint of Shadowfell ripping at the tainted magic of the necromancer. With sheer willpower and no spell in mind, the young Eladrin wizard tried to tear down the man's shield, which would allow Aerendis to attack the loathsome magic user.

A few harsh words were snarled from his mouth as he flung a force orb at the necromancer, intending to rip the man apart

The orb exploded in the old man's face after his shield was easily torn away slicing him to ribbons but he still remained with the living though his undead puppet dropped and remained dead. While he cowered away from the blast bleeding Aerendis took firm grip of his hammer swinging at the man again driving the head into his gut then crushing him against the nearby cave wall. Falling into a wounded heap the old man sprawled on the floor trying to crawl away looking up towards the two who were clearly more of a match than he thought.

"Please! have mercy!"

"Mercy?" Tharien spat, "why should we give you mercy Dark Necromancer?" his magic swirled around the room. To Aerendis it would feel warm, wild and simply brush against the Paladin like a wind. To the subjecto of his ire however, it would sting, battering against the elder male's own befouled magic angrily, trying to subdue it completely.

"Why should you be allowed to continue your perversion of magic? Give me incentive" his face was a mask of malice, like that which his mother was accustom to donning. It wasn't nearly as impressive of course, but it might intimidate the man.

Wanting nothing more than to swing down his hammer Aerendis decided it better to move away before he squashed the bug allowing Tharien his conference. As the old man was given reprieve to answer the wizard's question he looked around hastily muttering to himself his eyes ablaze with fear.

"I can give you power! money! anything you want please just don't kill me."

Suddenly his visage changed as if something had just dawned on him and grabbing hold of his staff he threw it harshly at Tharien where it exploded into a black cloud seeming to suck the light and heat out of the room. When the cloud settled the torches relighted and the man was gone in his place a stairwell and echoing voice.

"I almost gave up my life to hide this but you can have it instead and thanks for releasing me from my prison."

"Son of a...." Tharien growled out, his whole body visibly shaking in his sheer rage, and from his attempt to try and control it. An angry wizard, even one as young and unskilled as he was, were dangerous things, and despite his ager he knew he had to remain calm, there was valuable and possibly explosive things around, and more importantly, another being that he didn't wish to hurt near him.

Kneeling down he took deep breaths, his free hand clenched tight and his teeth gritted as he tried to control himself, his eyes shut.

The small wizard knelt there in the room, his body shaking, as he tried to contain the rage he was feeling, his magic slowly being pulled back into his body, the power having begun to thicken as he became emotional.

Unsure of what to do Aerendis decided it was best just to try and enter a more relaxed state now that the necromancer had fled though he was still wary of any tricks. As Tharien pulled his aura back it felt somewhat like a vacuum pulling all the air out of the room at once making the paladin's insides churn. With a wobble in his step he knelt next to the wizard cautiously placing a hand on his shoulder and looking down the stairwell.

"We didn't come here to fight necromancers as often as they can be. I've got some questions for Bixro that need answering and I'm sure you do too so we ought to grab what we can and head back to the surface."

Taking deep breaths the small wizard focused himself, "You don't understand the abomination that he was, merely standing in his presence was like being drowned in cesspool, his tainted magic....I hate it" he finished, unable to describe just what he experienced around the necromancer, and after a shaky breath he stood up, leaning on his staff as he wandered around the area, taking what he deemed to be valuable and storing it in a large trunk he absentmindedly conjured in the centre of the room.

Anything of value or use would be carefully packed into the trunk, which then would be sealed, and shrunk, a small chain popping out of it to serve as a pendant.

It was true that he didn't understand what the necromancer meant to Tharien just as much as he didn't understand the value of what he picked from the lab. Waiting patiently this time for his companion he led the other down the steps carefully eventually reaching a chamber bathed in moonlight. The chamber seemed to be a magnificent underground shrine with statues as tall as buildings harrowing over the two, six in all.

In front of two statues, one of a wise old elf and the other of a fully armored seraph, there stood pedestals bearing amulets which all seemed a little too coincidental. Reaching towards the one in front of the wise elf he felt a light magical shock causing him to step away then he grabbed the one from in front of the seraph which looked like a gnarled crows claw. As he touched it the trinket wrapped itself around his neck immediately fastening itself protectively.

"A little creepy isn't it? kinda like being watched."

Aerendis said as he stared up at the elf who stood next to a stout fellow adorned with runes and a dragon which towered over the others in height. On the other side next to the Seraph was a hooded cloaked statue and a Tiefling in elegant robes with arms spread eagle preaching to the stillness of the room.

Tharien followed Aerendis into the chamber, feeling better as he took in the magic that surrounded this seeming shrine. It was pure here, and seemed to mingle with his own, seeking out the taint he had received simply by battling the necromancer and removing it, purifying his magic anew.

"It feels safe here though, like a sanctuary..." the eladrin wizard said quietly as he moved towards the other statue, reaching towards the amulet that lay in front of it. It resembled a glowing purple eye on a simple golden band, three rays or tears beneath the eye. As soon as his hand connected with the band, it shot up and wrapped around his throat, tight against the skin without harming him, the eye situated at the hollow of his collarbone.

A small hand rested on the choker for a moment before he turned to the other statues, looking at the intricate details that surrounded them. They were expertly carved, and magnificent in all their splendour.

"I get the feeling we're being pushed into a role not of our own choosing" he said finally, his hand dropping from the cool metal around his throat, which now had no seam, and appeared immovable.

"Pushed or eased into?"

Suddenly it felt as if Aerendis' insides were lurching up his throat as the room became bathed in intense light that when subsided placed them outside of the abbey where a fully prepared caravan drawn by white mares stood. Bixro was there of course in his purple robes looking rather complacent as he spied the trinkets retrieved.

"When necromancy found it's home within our crypt we were not worried in the slightest. Corellon would not have his powers harnessed so easily and it only seemed right for you to protect what is rightfully yours."

When the paladin opened his mouth to speak Bixro merely raised a hand halting the divine warrior in action while he conjured a phantasmal rider for the caravan.

"You will be taken to a port town and from there I know not what will become of you. Just promise me you'll visit the forbidden city's gates."

Things somehow seemed to get more confusing yet answered as events transpired but without thinking about it too much the paladin just seated himself in the horse drawn vehicle. He reflected on his once average existence suddenly becoming stuffed with questions and purpose silently wondering what Tharien thought of the whole endeavor.

"No, definitely pushed" the wizard muttered to himself, the serenity he had felt within the shrine gone in the face of the Abbey's leader, his countenance darkened in irritation. Adjusting his robes with a shrug of his shoulders, Tharien made his way over to the caravan and sat on the edge of one of the carts.

While as far as he was concerned the sooner they left this place the better, he figured that Aerendis would prefer to say proper goodbyes, so he kept quiet and out of the way, a small gesture of courtesy that was in fact quite a large thing coming from the young eladrin who rarely bothered to be courteous to others at all.

He would simply wait until it was time to leave, all the while resisting the urge to give Bixro a demonstration of just how foul mouthed a teenage wizard could be...abyssal had some nice swear words.

Bixro was never a man for formalities and Aerendis knew it would be wasted to offer any sort of goodbyes. Instead he was more interested in his new companion who he figured he would be with for a very long time. Meandering his way over to a seat next to Tharien he fiddled with the trinket around his neck and sighed heavily.

"I didn't mean for any of this to happen and you don't seem phased by being pushed into some sort of journey with me. The most I know about you is that you're a wizard but I'm curious about your background."

The rest of the people aboard the caravan were all phantasms and shadow like people. After they settled it started to move slowly at first but was steadily gaining speed.

"I really don't know what we should do once we get to that port town either."

"I haven't had stability in my life for some time now, so this is merely another period of wandering for me" the young wizard replied, not looking at Aerendis, "my past is just that, past, and I'd rather not speak about it." his tone was't harsh, but it allowed for no compromise on the matter.

Brushing a lock of blue-black hair behind a delicately pointed ear, Tharien was silent for a moment as he pondered the next step of their journey. After a few minutes he said "I guess we will have to figure that out when we get there, perhaps we should seek a way to procure a more permanent way of funding, as well as seek to improve our abilities. If we are being pushed into something by the gods, then we need to be prepared for whatever it is we may face."

"I suppose I'm kind of the same way in that wandering is not an alien concept to me."

Sighing as if to breathe the stress from his body he felt limber for the first time since being thrust into that waterfall cove. Reaching up he untied his hair letting it fall and shaking it out with one movement. Despite being a warrior it was very well kept deep blue hair, glossy and waist length he twirled a lock with one of his fingers carefully. Again he breathed deeply leaning back to watch the sky as it moved.

"Money eh? I don't doubt we'll need more training... and lots of it. But money is not hard to come by for people with our skills especially with all the guilds out there. Bixro has told me of them, they aren't exclusive either though some could be."

"It doesn't hurt to have a steady source of money" Tharien said as the caravan began moving towards their destination, the young wizard leaning back into his seat, suddenly overcome with exhaustion, the day's events catching up to him at last.

"As for guilds, contact with them would help, but I would rather not become too involved with any large groups like that. There are certain things that I'd rather not be known about myself, and past experience has taught me joining a group of learned individuals is not conclusive to these things remaining where they belong, in the past."

Sighing softly he wrapped his robe and cloak tighter around himself, more out of reflex than any need to get warm. Eyelids slid closed as the young magic wielder gave in to the call for rest, unconsciously showing a considerable amount of trust in Aerendis by allowing himself to rest in the Paladin's presence.

"Eh I wasn't saying we'd join one seeing as I myself hate having others dote on me and expect me to do stuff."

Rest seemed like a good idea now as he watched Tharien slip into meditation, Aerendis himself closed his eyes and began to rejuvenate himself allowing his spirit form to flow from his body standing guard nearby. It was rare that he did so in the Fey as when he chose to rest it was during a time he had enough of viewing the world around him and just needed to spend time alone with his thoughts. Figuring the phantasms would be able to take care of things he let himself fade into deep rest.

Tharien awoke with a slight jolt, blinking owlishly as he looked around, trying to clear his head from the fuzziness that had filled it during his sleep while he got his bearings. The last thing he could remember was going to sleep in the cart, and the thought of that made him slightly concerned, as anything could have happened while he was resting.

The Eladrin wizard looked for any landmarks that might give him clues as to where they were, as well as checking to make sure there was nothing suspicious around.

The sound of wood against wood would alert Tharien to his new surroundings as well as Aerendis. As the caravan came to a halt on the pier they would see an odd looking robed male wearing dark dull colors and hiding his face in the shadow of his wide brim hat standing at the end of it. Beyond him was a rather large island in the distance that seemed to be somewhat of a utopia with buildings carved purely of marble.

"This is as far as we go as we've other business but from here you can either travel to the Forbidden City or to Majharn."

A phantasmal servant spoke as Aerendis stood up from his seat and began walking down the wooden pier towards the robed elf who's attention snapped towards the paladin, glowing red eyes peering from the shallow concealment of shadow upon his face. Waving shortly to the caravan as it disappeared into the woods behind them he waited for Tharien to catch up while he approached the elf, suddenly the sun in the distance suddenly dropped casting an evening glow over the world.

"The day watcher is at large again?"

Said the male who with an open hand conjured his ebony gnarled staff taking hold of it with his long bony fingers again returning his attention to the two.

"Odd that our time of day has not changed for hundreds of years and now suddenly it is evening is it not? I'm sure you've better things to worry about. So will you two be going to the capital state or Majharn?"

Tharien looked at the robed being with thinly veiled suspicion, having been raised to never trust people he didn't know, despite the fact he had ignored that when he had met the Paladin who now stood by his side, the larger male's presence almost comforting, allowing the son of Shadowfell the chance to relax for the first time since he had left his mother's house.

"I've always wanted to see Majharn" he said softly to the Paladin, never taking his green eyes off of the robed thing that stood before them, his grip on his own staff tight in suspicion and his magic swirling around him restlessly, like a caged beast.

"Besides, by my nature I rather feel the need to do the opposite of what someone tells me to, even if that someone is a god" he murmured as his eyes flicked to the island he could see in the distance, the gleaming marble seeming to beckon to him.

"However, I'm not the only person here, and I'm not going to decide for you, what is your opinion?" the small Eladrin looked to Aerendis, waiting to hear the paladin's response.

"There didn't seem to be much urgency in what he told us either. Knowing Corellon he'll let us know when we've stepped off whatever path we're supposed to be on so why not?"

Just before Aerendis had finished speaking the man clutching his staff lifted it just barely off the wood before setting it down harshly with a loud snap the ocean underneath the pier seemed to come alive writhing and undulating forming a wall of water around the two. It came crashing down on them only to dissipate becoming calm instantly all while getting nobody wet and for a moment it seemed to be some paltry magic trick until the bustle of a bazaar reached their ears. In front of them was the stone city, beyond that a lush green mountainous area with another tier of the city nestled in the brush.

"You'd do well to put more trust in your fellow Fey creatures Tharien."

The staff wielding individual said just before disappearing in much the same way they'd managed to arrive where they were. There were many other elves and creatures here each wandering around the city with their own sense of purpose ignoring the new arrival all except for one short creature wearing a blue vest and plain white pants with much jewelry. It had the characteristics of a brown feline, ears and a tail.

"From one gate keeper to the next as always, I am the head of this district and it's transportation expert that is to say walking between districts would be absurd."

Tharien frowned, only years of training in self control stopping him from lashing out with raw magic at the spot where the black cloaked being had been. He was concerned greatly, and it was taking a lot of effort to stop himself from simply fleeing the area.

"It knew my name" he hissed, already backing away from the spot where the being had been standing just seconds before. Shaking his head he turned and disappeared into the crowd, a few gestures hiding his staff and disguising his features as he tried to blend in. The small wizard was running on instinct now, old training and newer experience that told him to get away from someone that knew who he was without his express permission.

In his panic, the teen didn't spare a thought for Aerendis, he would wander around the area for a small while before stopping and realising what he had done. Slumping down against a wall he came to the conclusion that he had completely lost his bearings and had no clue where he was. With a sigh he sat there, trying to calm himself down so that he could try and find his way back to his companion, who he probably owed an apology to.

The paladin and the changeling had their attention ripped from one another as Tharien hissed. It seemed odd to Aerendis that Tharien had such adversity to someone knowing his name but now wasn't the time for questions. Ignoring the cat man he started to chase the young wizard only to end up stepping on someone's foot causing them to shout loudly at the paladin startling him into another male which upset the flow of the entire crowd. One by one a series of mishaps formed from Aerendis' blunder ending when someone tipped over the blacksmith's forge exploding his workshop.

"Oops?"

He said sheepishly standing at the center of the mayhem wondering just what in the world happened.

Tharien looked up nervously as the sound of an explosion rang out over the district, his lips pressed together as he contemplated what to do. It was unlikely that the explosion had anything to do with people who knew him, though the timing was a bit concerning.

'Well, I'm lost, I guess that's one way to get my bearings, I just have to be careful' he said to himself, closing his eyes as he tried to calm down. After a few seconds he opened them again and changed the illusion disguising him. It was rather flimsy considering it was just prestidigitation that formed it, but he was just wanting to avoid casual glances considering the thick crowds.

That done he made his way towards the explosion, slipping through the crowds to see what had happened while avoiding notice. What he came across almost made him facepalm, a rather familiar, stunned looking Paladin obviously trying to figure out what just happened, despite him seemingly being in the middle of the whole thing.

Darting forward, Tharien gripped the stunned Paladin by the hand and pulled him into the crowd, a few words covering his companion in a similar illusion as he tried to get the two out of there as far as he could, not wanting to be the centre of attention.

A member of the crowd suddenly darted towards him grabbing onto his hand, he'd have probably reacted had he not been caught off guard by the action. Just when he was about to ask the person who he was a sense of magic washed over him giving him a pretty good idea of who was dragging him along.

"Where are we going? why are we running?"

He whispered hurriedly while being dragged clumsily through the streets almost falling over once or twice.

"We're going anywhere but right here, and we're running because you just cost a blacksmith his livelyhood and he's not too likely to be very happy with you for that" Tharien snapped at the paladin as he led his companion through the crowds, stopping once they were a decent distance away from the explosion.

Looking around briefly he found a nice spot out of the way and led the larger male over there, dropping the disguises and glaring up at the paladin.

"I leave you alone for a couple of minutes and you go and blow something up!" he snarked, though once again he wasn't really angry, just oddly concerned for Aerendis' health, the small wizard's hands fluttering up slightly as if to check his companion for wounds before dropping back at his side, Tharien settling for glaring at the other for now.

"I've got to ask and not to sound rude but why are you so concerned for me? Even if Corellon has slapped us together I haven't even known you for more than a short while."

His eyes wandered looking from one of Tharien's hands to the other then settling for a moment on the wizard's glare.

"For a moment there I thought you were using the opportunity to ditch me."

Aerendis spoke sheepishly playing with the hair just over his ear looking away from the other. Behind them business seemed to start moving along as usual as if nothing had happened which for the most part was a good thing.

A blush graved Tharien's elfin face, his green eyes looking anywhere but at Aerendis, "I don't know why, I just do..." he answered, staring at the marble ground in embarassment. That emotion however was quickly replaced with irritation at the Paladin's assumption. With a frown on his face he stepped in front of Aerendis and stood up on his toes to better look the larger eladrin in the face.

"If I were going to ditch you, I would have done it before we ever went to your abbey" he said, the look on his face and the tone of his voice was far less menacing than he would like, and much more 'cutely annoyed'

With a 'hmph' he lowered himself and spun around, his robes whipping around him as he twirled, "Now, lets go look around..." with that Tharien began to walk off, stopping after a few steps to turn and look Aerendis in the eyes.

"Sorry for running off, I just was startled" he whispered softly, just loud enough for the paladin to hear, before turning around again and walking off as if he had never stopped.

A simple nod was the only gesture he needed to make to convey that he understood as he trotted along behind Tharien following him wherever he would go in this strange town. For some reason he couldn't find living here a very comfortable thought what with all the buzz.

"So you said you've always wanted to see Majharn is there any reason for that? It just seems like a carved out rock to me, cool to the touch even."

What he did like about the city was that the back alleys and side streets were all but barren making escaping the mayhem of the bustle an easy thing to do. Those thoughts brought his mind to the subject of money which he'd taken for granted for many of his years.

"Say... how much money do we have anyway?"

Tharien just wandered around, looking into windows at the various shops, and trying to see if anything interesting caught his eye, a slight smile on his face as he walked along the marble walkways, the crowd seemingly parting for him instinctively without anyone realising, such was his presence.

"Father likes this place, when he could be bothered with me he'd mention it, and how he felt protective of it. Mother hates it on principle that my father brought it up, and so I always wanted to go there just to get one up on her" he murmured lowly in response to Aerendis' question, not realising that he had just shared more personal information than he had since he left his mother's household.

Stopping when the paladin mentioned their financial status he frowned slightly as he tried to remember exactly how much he was carrying.

"We have enough to live off for a while, but it'd have to be frugal, and no big spending. It'd be better if we could find some work"

"Hmm.."

The subject of parents got Aerendis thinking of his own which he quite honestly barely knew to begin with and he hadn't even known where he was born for a while. As long as they were sharing personal information the paladin decided to open himself up to Tharien.

"My parents abandoned me when I was very young. Can't say I remember what they look like but I don't hate them for it after all even Bixro told me I was worthless at times. Why I'd have died back in that cave if it was any sort of real."

His pace slowed as he spoke as if his focus was being directed to concentrating on what he was saying though a quick shake of his head snapped him back to reality and the wizard's statement.

"If it's work we need then we'll have to ask about the different tiers here unless you wanna go see that smith."
