Thariens mouth thinned with displeasure as the force orb failed to kill his target. What a pain in the ass, why couldn't these things just die like he wanted them too, was that really too much to ask for? Apparently so, as both this one and the last hadn't died when he had wanted them to. It had worked once, so he decided to give it another shot, and with a little exertion of his will, he used fey step to appear behind the goblin, a magic missle forming on his hand to be flung straight at the little annoyance. Hopefully this would take it out, and he could take a bit of a break |

The wizard's missile blew a hole in the weakened goblin's head leaving him to stumble over with no face disappearing in a flash of arcane symbols as the last corpses had. Aerendis then took his hammer with two hands bringing it down on the staggered zombie's head causing him to crumple onto the floor with a sickening crunch. However being a zombie made it stupidly resilient and it remained surprisingly fast dashing from a down state at the paladin successfully sliding his blade through a weak part of the armor into his stomach. |

Tharien smiled in triumph as his opponent hit the ground, glad that he had defeated the pest. Turning around he noticed Arendis get stabbed by his own opponent. He quickly cast another magic missile at the zombie, hoping to kill it so he could then check the larger male for injuries. If it did die, he would race over to try and help the paladin |

Being a zombie death was never really the end for it as the missile tore through it's body the goblin fell for a moment only to rise again. Aerendis knew a thing or two about zombies as he was a paladin after all even if an arcane one. After Tharien checked his wound treating it with a healing surge Aerendis was able to point at the goblin blasting it with a column of radiant light though it took a bit out of him to do so. As the stout knight fell into a kneeling position some great spire erupted from the middle of the room cracking with what looked like lightning but was more suited to be classified as eldritch energy. |

"You're kinda handy to have around you know" Tharien remarked offhandedly as the zombie thing went down under the Paladin's spell...ability...thing, his eyes darting around waiting to see what crazy and seemingly random thing would happen next. Naturally, he wasn't disappointed when the great spire of energy shot out of the centre of the room, power crackling off of it. This sort of thing was more in his realm of experience, and unlike the last time, he wasn't caught off guard and confused. "Well...what do we have here.." he cast his senses outward, trying to identify the energy in the safest way possible, not taking any chances as he worked with the unknown column of power |

"Obviously it's something else that wants to kill us." As Tharien extended his senses the device which was amateur for even his level of wizardry would be revealed to him as an "Eldritch Machine". What looked like bolts of lightning coursed through the structure however they were varying hues of purple due to the fact that it was none other than eldritch energy. A bolt shot at Aerendis who instinctively raised his shield successfully deflecting the missile further proving that it was not lightning at all. Being that it was a rather amateur training device Tharien should also be easily capable of channeling it's power source completely draining it to disable the device. |

"You'd think that it woulda been something a little less simple" the Rladrin wizard muttered as he went to work disabling the training device, as he had done several times in the past, "not that I'm complaining about that mind you" he amended hastily, realising that he could very well have been tempting fate with that comment. Assuming that he was successful in this endevour, he would look around, alert for whatever new danger may make itself known |

As the device was successfully dealt with Aerendis rose to his feet watching the obelisk crumble into the ground only to quickly reform itself into a giant statue which loomed over them with green glowing eyes, it's body made of some black stone. It could easily fit either of them into the palm of it's hand and without delay it reared back a fist smashing downward at the paladin though being the hulk it was even the armor clad elf could easily leap to the side. Deciding it would be best to get away from the thing highly doubting his little hammer would do much he verbally suggested Tharien do the same. |

Tharien swore in his native tongue as the obelisk reformed itself. That was not what normally happened in this situation, so of course it was the only thing that could have occured right this moment. He was a decent distance away from the creature, which meant he could safely ignore the suggestion of running. Gathering up his reamaining power, Tharien cast flaming sphere at the creature, the firey orb would hurtle down upon it and hopefully destroy it. If that didn't work he would strike it with a magic missile. After which he would be pretty much out of steam, so hopefully this would be the last test. |

The orb met it's mark against the large statue successfully deterring it's chase towards Aerendis though it merely blasted a chunk out of it's head and the magic missile followed right after piercing it's body. Taking the chance to focus Aerendis again tried his power of radiant delirium hoping to do something against the statue but it did little else than gather it's attention while breaking off more parts of it's body. Expecting it to move slowly as it was Aerendis certainly wasn't prepared when the statue bum rushed him getting a tight grip around his body as it started to smash him against the floor like a bug. His body was limp and all he could do in this position was shout no matter how futile it was. "Tharien! get it off me!" After the pounding he was thrown against the far wall though still quite alive blood draining itself from all sorts of places probably due to the crushing injuries he'd just been swathed with. He tried to speak even if his voice was barely audible through the amount of blood spewing from his mouth. "I guess we're lucky we can't actually die here eh?" |

"That... looks...uncomfortable" Tharien pointed out sarcastically, trying to draw in deep breaths. The fact that despite being a golem's plaything, the paladin wasn't dead was quite reassuring, though seeing his battered body was a very disturbing thing to see. Gathering up his strength, Tharien managed to pull up enough energy to cast Force Orb. Hopefully the spell would finally stop the rampaging monster, and also not harm his partner further. The wizard knew that either way, they were nearly done. |

The force orb landed at it's feet successfully removing the thing of it's ankles causing it to fall backwards but it still wasn't totally dead yet. Crawling forward it punched at Tharien with a giant fist hoping to crush the elf against the floor. However with his last bit of strength if the attack landed or not Aerendis called upon the radiant spell yet again this time with enough conviction to obliterate the statue. A blinding light enveloped the area and suddenly they were in the clearing with the waterfall completely restored of energy and vigor with no wounds. If there hadn't been a large chest nearby it could have all seemed to be just a dream. "Well done heroes." The voice boomed from the waterfall and the area was absent of the corrupted feeling from before. Aerendis found it strange that they were being called 'heroes' but it didn't matter much to him especially since he was still coming to terms with what had just happened. Meandering over to the chest he opened it finding it was filled with gold coins, a purse of holding and a staff sticking out of the middle of it all. It was gilded with white gold bearing the sigil of an aegis at the tip. "Looks like we've been drafted into something against our will." |

A shield of purple light encased Tharien's form as he defended himself from the giant fist that now hovered dangerously close to his person. Luckily Aerendis managed to finally defeat the monstrosity, despite his obviously crippling wounds. He walked over to the chest, his eyes clearly looking over the older male, checking for wounds. Despite his cavalier attitude at the time, he had been concerned for his new companion. Slender hands brushed gently against the paladin, confirming for himself that Aerendis was fine. He stepped back, suddenly aware of what he was doing, "Er, well, umm, seems you're fine" he said a little gruffly, turning back to the chest in order to hide the colour that flushed his cheeks, busying himself by picking up the staff cautiously and trying to figure out if it was anything more than a fancy walking stick |

Aerendis had hardly noticed Tharien feeling him over as he filled the purse with coins even sliding his own into it. No matter how much money was in it the bag felt surprisingly light which was an odd sensation. Tightening the tassel he shook it a few times before handing it to Tharien. "I'd rather you watch over our funds. I get the feeling we'll be traveling together now though I'm not sure to what end. By the way my name's Aerendis." The reason for his reintroduction is that he thought Tharien had probably forgotten his name by now seeming heavily disinterested when they'd first met. "I'm also sorry for having used your name when you haven't introduced yourself to me yet." |

Tharien waved off the apology as he examined the staff, it seemed to be a fair bit better than his own, which was kinda sad, since he liked his staff, even if it did show him to be the novice that he was. Taking the wooden one in one hand, and the new one in the other, he chanted a few short words before bringing them together. The new staff was made of the same dark wood as his original staff, with the white gold of the new one showing up as a series of curling nature patterns, a wooden snake curling around the golden aegis sigil protectively. Technically it was the new staff, he had simply added elements of his old, simple one over the top of it. Taking the purse gingerly, another small spell was cast on it, making it unnoticeable to anyone that wasn't himself or Aerendis...of course, a stronger wizard could undoubtably break the spell, it would protect their money from petty thieves. "I remember your name, I'm not stupid you know" he stated when he was done, glaring up at the older Eladrin with the traces of a pout across his face, "and no need to be so formal, if you're tagging along you might as well give as you get, and trust me, if you hang around me you're gonna get it alot. I'm the poster boy for Crotchety old wizards anonymous, cept I'm not old, and you know my name so I'm not anonymous...and I'm rambling" he buried his head in his free hand, rubbing the bridge of his nose for a moment as he tried to pull himself together. "Ok, so, we ran into...a god yes? He..it..they, called us Heroes, which can't be good for our livelyhood...anyway...what now?" he looked up at Aerendis, despite his bravado clearly an inexperienced young man confused about his place in the worl. |

Watching as the wizard worked his magic it was slightly off putting that he could bend reality so finely to his will but as the ministers of the abby would say 'It's your job to protect and not to understand'. Then again that sounded more like a way to keep over zealous knights under control but all that didn't matter, the new staff was very pretty and that was that. His admiration was broken easily by Tharien's long winded rantings which ended with Aerendis regaining his senses and finding his footing. "A god I can only assume is Corellon I mean they don't often use each other's symbols so proudly. I guess now we should either find out why a god would specifically address us or investigate that rod he so eloquently thrust into your hands. Gods are spontaneous at times but rarely do anything without greater purposes tied in." While they were talking the chest had suddenly closed and vanished in a spectacular display of arcane energy sending glittering sparkles all over the place with a crack of lightning. |

"Trying to find out why a god wanted to deal with us seems to be an insurmountable task. I assume that we'll find out in due time" Tharien stated as he straightened out, his embarassment at ranting fading away as he managed to regain control of himself. "So we should probably figure out Corellon thrust his rod into my hand..." the small Eladrin went bright scarlet as he realised the double entendre he had inadvertantly said. If it weren't for the fact that he knew how to take care of magical artifacts, he might have dropped the staff in his shame. "I..that is...I mean...fuck" The wizard spun around to hide his face from Aerendis, too flustered to continue |

Raising a hand to rub the back of his head as he nonchalantly looked away the Eladrin wasn't quite sure how to continue the rod decision without constantly thinking of what Tharien had just said and if it were blasphemous or not. "Er... uh I..." Covering his mouth he coughed rather harshly bringing the topic back to it's main focus. "Suppose we need to get the staff appraised or something? surely there's someone who knows what it is beyond... Corellon's rod. But where to start looking for answers?" Scanning the glades he came upon the realization that he'd never actually been outside of the nation before let alone any of it's major cities. "Unless you know somewhere I guess I should be asking one of the wizards from the abbey." |

Turning back to the Paladin, his face still cherry red, the small Wizard, cleared his throat, "I'd rather not see my old acquaintances to be honest, we didn't exactly part on good terms, so I guess I'll follow your lead in this" he said, his eyes downcast as he contemplated his previous words 'great job idiot, you probably blasphemed in some way, and he's a paladin' he smacked himself a few times mentally before coming back to his senses. "Lead the way" he said, still subdued, as he tightened his pack, readjusted his grip on his staff and waited for the Paladin to head off to wherever he had in mind. |

"It's actually not far from here at all." Casually he led the wizard from the clearing in the direction that the Paladin originally came from though he had to stop every now and then just to make sure he was going the right way. Not always the smart one he once got lost going in circles seeing as there was no direct path too or from the place. "Have you ever passed by it or seen it? the place is called Librof and that's it right there." Through the last bit of brush they came upon a rather old structure made of yellowy bricks. It was a keep more or less though a small one decorated with stain glass and the eye of Corellon sitting high on the steeple. Double wooden doors swung open before they could even approach it properly and standing in it's place was a sharp looking black haired Eladrin with green eyes wearing a dull purple hooded robe. He played with his curls as Aerendis properly introduced him. "This would be Bixro who still manages to greet anyone and everyone at any hour. The head of our abbey and the man you probably want to speak to about the staff." Without saying anything Bixro beckoned them inward leading them to his cozy quarters within the keep which consisted of a bookcase, fireplace and three luxurious red and gold chairs he conjured with a simple wave of the hand. |

Tharien followed Aerendis through the forest, deciding not to question the Paladin even when it seemed like they were going in circles, after all, the small Wizard had screwed up enough today and didn't feel like making a fool of himself any further. When the two finally reached the small Abbey, Tharien simply bowed in greeting to the Eladrin who greeted them, still not trusting himself to speak, especially now in the presence of the head of the establishment, who knows what could go wrong after the day he'd had. He waited for Bixro to offer them a seat, not wanting to be rude by assuming to sit, and for whatever else may happen. |

"Are you going to sit or what?" His voice was sharp cutting the air effortlessly but still retaining enough allure to persuade even an Eladrin. Aerendis was not phased and sat making himself comfortable wondering if the seemingly all knowing Bixro knew why they were there. With another gesture the intimidating man brought to life a fire sitting next to it and studying Tharien intently. "We know what you've been through and... that's a very bad sign. This is a training place for knights of Corellon obviously so we occasionally receive counsel from him. He told us that he would be choosing some vassals." With another simple gesture he summoned Tharien's staff to himself then began to examine it before returning it in the same manner. "Of course it's legit and you know Aerendis that the Aegis is our symbol. That artifact is most sacred and it's place of holding is our most precious secret. Why he chose scrubs like you is questionable though." Those words alone cut the Paladin down making him realize just how much power he actually had compared to the seniors. Hell he couldn't even use a proper blessing without becoming winded but Bixro was always unforgiving. "It's not my place to question a god but this means you're going to have to visit the Forbidden City which is an honor even I can only dream of." |

Tharien arranged himself in the seat comfortably after being offered it, though his teeth clenched as his temper rose, both in the curt tone of the elder one, and the rude manner he had just stolen his staff without asking for permission. Some wizards might allow it, but not him, his staff was a part of him, and for it to be manhandled with disregard to his wishes was wrong. Of course he didn't say anything, he still had enough self control to know that getting angry at this Eladrin was a bad idea. He clutched the magical item in his hand as it was returned to him, trying to smooth out any invisible cracks in its aura that came from someone else handling his focus. It was an oddity that had happened several times in the past, and each time he wouldn't feel right until he fixed it. Remaining silent, he waited to see what else was to be said. |

"We'd known that one day you would visit the city and that we were to do everything in our power to get you there. That much is all we know and as Corellon's servants it's our duty to do everything in his best interests. The only way from here to the city is by ship so I'll be preparing a caravan to the nearest harbor town." All the while he was speaking Bixro was just staring blankly into the fireplace with a half scowl painted on his face. Aerendis had known him to be rather compassionate but now he seemed rather spiteful. Not feeling it was in his best interest to speak at the moment he would just sit and wait for the wizard to give order. "In our crypts you two should find some things to help you on your way if you feel so inclined as to explore them. Be warned that it's been centuries since they were last opened but the necrotic magic sealed within should have faded by now." Standing up and brushing himself off out of habit Aerendis smiled nervously at Tharien beckoning him out of the room into the main hall where he spoke quietly. "Looks like I've gotten us into a rather fine mess... sorry about that. Shall we head to the crypts or have you better things to do than follow me around?" |

"Might as well check it out" Tharien responded as he clutched his staff almost protectively, still annoyed at the rudeness of the master of the abbey. His head twitched slightly, the long ponytail swishing in irritation. "Though the phrase 'the necrotic magic sealed within should have faded by now' is rather ominous, and I get the feeling that it won't have faded" he sighed before straightening up and taking a deep breath. "Oh well, when has anything ever been easy, you might as well lead the way, assuming you're ready" the wizard gestured to indicate he would follow the paladin to what was going to undoubtably be an unpleasant place. Pressure makes gems though, so...well, he was going to be cautious, but that wasn't going to stop him. |

"Momma always told me never to speak ill of wizards but Bixro was never like that before. I always found him to be charming and gentle not nearly as abrasive as he was." Following Tharien's cue he led the wizard through a pair of doors parallel to the entrance which opened up to a rather beautiful garden surrounded by the Abbey walls. In the center of the garden of course was a large mausoleum leading into the dark depths of the keep. Bixro obviously worked quickly or planned ahead as it was already unsealed and wide open for the two, the seemingly never ending stairs into the darkness eventually led them to a room lined with coffins which was glowing a cool blue color. There was a stone door on the other side which was locked by runes meaning it required a magical key. "That door isn't going to open without the proper device. If I remember correctly everything required to delve further was sealed along with the crypts." That only meant there was but one thing to do and that was to check the caskets. Aerendis was had his apprehensions about opening graves but he couldn't think of anything better to do. Sliding the lid off of one he found dust, bones and a spider which made him stumble backwards nearly loosing his footing. "A spider was in there!" |

Tharien blinked slightly as Aerendis began digging through the caskets, and giggled softly as the paladin threw himself away from one, claiming that there was a spider in it. The wizard moved over to the casket, looked in, and with a wave of his hand turned the spider into a small 6 sided die, which he picked up and dropped on the ground near the paladin. "Spider dealt with, oh great and mighty warrior of Corellon" he teased lightly before going to the other side of the room and cautiously searching through caskets, making sure to pay proper respect to each one. It didn't hurt to be cautious, especially in a place where there may still be remnants of necromancy |

Kicking the dice lightly he resumed his search deciding to ignore Tharien's quip. It wasn't long before he found the key and many others that looked exactly like it which was slightly confusing and very suspicious. "I found some keys... but there's at least a handful here and only one door." He pulled out some of them looking each over trying to spot any differences but the room was far too dimly lit for him to be able to discern anything clearly. Tharien would likewise find his own stash of keys as he searched. Aerendis looked a bit worried while he thumbed over the keys as there were a few scenarios to be considered, one was real or they were all real. "I'm sure it's obvious but these depths are guarded though how heavily I'm not sure. In fact I don't even know how large they are but it is only a crypt right?" |

"You've probably jinxed us you know, we're gonna walk in there and its going to be huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge" Tharien said, gesticulating wildly in a rather childish attempt to emphasise just how big the crypt was going to be now that Aerendis had tempted fate. Hooking the ring of keys on his belt, with an added spell to make sure they stayed there unless he removed them, he gestured at the door, "You might as well try those keys first....I wonder if we have identical sets..." the wizard paused for a moment before shrugging. He was ready for whatever they might have to face in there...he hoped |

"Uh alright then." Nervously he picked one of the keys and shoved it into the slot in the middle of the door. His shoulders dropped and he was much more at ease when he heard the click after it fit in so he twisted the key. There was much rumbling and groaning of stone gears which seemed to be far more drawn out than was necessary, tapping his foot impatiently the glow in the room finally snuffed out and with a bang something opened. It was not the door however. The floor from under the Paladin dropped out causing him to plummet downward landing with a loud crash and all was deathly silent. "I'm ok." He shouted not exactly sure what he'd fallen into or from where as it was completely pitch black. Part of him said to feel around but most of him decided it would be best if he didn't move at all. |
