Rillas let out a multitonal howl, much like he had when he had been enraged in Wrathwood, his Javelin sinking into exposed flesh as he hopped around, his short stature ensuring that he was a hard target to hit for the humans. Buds around his neck opening up, he unleashed a flurry of seeds, the small objects erupting into flames when they came into contact with something.

Tharien meanwhile was slowly slaughtering his way towards the portal, pillars of fire exploding out of the ground whenever the humans got too close to one another. His glowing eyes the only part of him that was visible to the enemy, laughter spilling from lips drawn back into a snarl. Every human he killed was a small portion of Majharn paid for, the destruction of buildings ensuring that the human's taint would not spill beyond this point.

"Die, die, die...DIE!!" he called out as he immolated a man alive with nothing but a thought, his sword and robes coated with blood.

By now most of the buildings the humans had set were burning or destroyed and they were in a panic looking for retreat. Ea rushed forward to shoot at the fleeing humans some of them now escaping her range, not only were they fleeing the group but also the shadows threatening to engulf and blind them. Aerendis lowered his zone, successfully but not intentionally placing terror into the minds of the soldiers who were so afraid some actually ran into the darkness.

Most of them were taken care of by Dao as they stupidly waded towards him but something grabbed his attention, their goal the portal was starting to open creating a hushed glow in the night. Many human wizards were attempting to facilitate the escape of their people still having trouble with the Elven magic permeating the gate.

"They're not fighting back at all or rather they're unable to."

Aerendis said watching the humans struggle with their crudely reconstructed portal it's destination flashing rather randomly but most definitely showing their home realm of Jolindur.

Tharien's glowing gaze fell on the human wizards, his grin getting wider as he stalked towards them, magic missile downing any human who bothered to get near him. "Oh how cute, lookit the liddle hoomans, playing at being wielder's of the arcane" the Wizard cooed as he approached the human casters, conjuring a mage hand and using it to pull the ankle of one of the humans, disrupting his balance and pulling him to the ground. Holding a hand out he pulled another one towards him through the air using prestidigitation, looking the human in the eye before pushing them back into the group of casters. It might not cause any damage, but it would certainly distract them all.

"Bye bye liddle hoomans" he called out, fire dancing around his hand as he hurled a fireball at the group of wizards. That done he turned his attention back to the other humans, his sword calling for more blood.

Rillas had shifted into the form of a big cat and had proceeded to maul and chew on any human he came across, his fur staining quickly with the blood he spilt.

That was it for the humans with the portal captured and nothing but the sea around them trapping them on an island with their assailants. By now the darkness had swallowed all of Majharn and the group only had to clean up at this point. Aerendis erected another hallowed circle which stragglers ended up running into without any regard. Ea and Dao only had to pick off the last of them cleansing the island practically returning it to what it had been after the explosion.

It was better than having it inhabited by humans though and a now active portal stood among the carnage opening the way to their world it's frequencies not quite stable. Ea huffed loudly after all was said and done kicking over a corpse that lay at her feet.

"We won the day but I have a feeling there will be more."

"Pity, I thought there was going to be at least a couple worth a decent fight" the wizard stated sullenly as Rillas stalked up to the group, changing back to his natural state as he got close to them, "now all we need to do is close the portal". The Eladrin turned to look at the archway, examining it with eyes that no longer glowed, trying to determine just what they were going to have to do in order to shut down the humans' way into the fey.

Rillas leaned on his Javelin, uncaring of the blood that coated his slight form, "we are surprised, are all of their kind so simple?" the Wilden asked, jerking his head in the direction of a nearby human corpse

"Hrm.....yes, I could close this I think, its not what I'm used to though"

"I don't know Rillas but the only reason we lost the first battle was because they blew themselves up. This place was a metropolis before the humans arrived with their cowardly explosions fighting civilians and not warriors."

Aerendis stated watching the portal feeling a little antsy as he thought about the situation at hand. He never doubted Tharien would be able to close it but he had destroyed it during the last battle with delirium.

"They've proven that they can reconstruct this portal somehow from the other side. I destroyed it back then with my own hands."

Ea was visited by memories of that day truly feeling that the deaths of their people were not avenged yet. Justice would be mete out as long as she had anything to say about it feeling a hotness in her blood.

"I think I'm going to go in there with Dao. Whether or not you come with me is your choice but I believe their world can't be worse than Blood Tangle."

Tharien pondered this thought, unsure as to whether he would be willing to go through the portal to face whatever world was on the other side. He had become attached to the fey, and Divayth was expecting him back, could he really just leave? On the other hand, the idea of taking the fight to the ones who had caused such a tragedy to occur, to destroy those who had engineered the destruction of Majharn, was very very tempting. Overall the wizard had no idea what he wished, or needed, to do.

Rillas' thoughts were similar. Part of him wished to explore this wider world now that he was out in it, but another part wanted to return to his forest, to guard it and shepherd its plants and creatures as he had done for as long as he could remember. It was not easy trying to come up with a decision on this matter.

"I wouldn't go in there until we know exactly where it can lead. I've jumped head first into portals before surviving because of my own dumb luck."

The paladin put away his weapon as he spoke picking at his armor wondering just what he wanted to do. Part of him empathized with Ea and he had nothing to lose except for Tharien and Divayth. Dao didn't express and like or dislike for the idea of going into the portal at all.

"Too bad we can't just take the portal with us and think about it somewhere else."

Tharien raised an eyebrow at those words, turning to face the portal he placed his hands on its rim. Ritualistic words poured out of his mouth quietly as the portal began to glow, shrinking in size until it was small enough to carry without any trouble. Picking it up he turned to face the group, his arms crossed over his chest and an eyebrow raised as if to say 'well, what now?'. He was still angry so friendly conversation was a bit beyond him at the moment.

Rillas stayed silent, still contemplating the idea of going through the portal, since technically his debt was repayed.

Chewing her fingernail quietly the Tiefling swept herself up in deep thought never having considered the ability to bring the portal with them wherever they pleased. It allowed for much less than rash actions but something in her quivered telling her there wasn't a lot of time to be lost now. Aerendis turned to face the sea while Dao waited wordlessly for instructions, the Paladin thought for a moment about their gathering and their goal which they had technically achieved.

"For the moment we have completed what we set out to do."

Ea made a reserved gesture in agreement before speaking, the Fey sun was starting to rise over the horizon now ending the long night.

"Time for us all to rest somewhere now and think about what is to come.

Tharien turned from the group, making his way back to the dock without saying anything. The others would most likely follow him since he currently had the portal, and if they didn't then what did it matter to him? Its not like he was still hurt by Ea's attitude and Aerendis' tactless words, no, really....he wasn't sure if he could even convince himself of that to be truthful, so instead he didn't think about it at all. Conjuring some mounts once more he mounted up and made his way back across the water, his destination Highvale where his adoptive son was waiting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wizard would arrive at night, having travelled as fast as his mount could carry him in hopes of reaching the settlement, however once it was in sight he wasn't sure what to do...it was like something was holding him back, he might have considered Divayth his son, but was his presence in the young Eladrin's life good for the boy? He couldn't be a very good role model, perhaps it would be better to simply leave, and become only a distant memory for the child.
Divayth had followed the Eladrin wizard, travelling via his bird form. Now staring at the settlement with curiousity he too was hesitant, mostly because it was such an unknown thing for him, and Tharien was very clearly not about to go forward any time soon
There was nothing to do but follow the wizard back to Highvale. Something felt unsettling about leaving Majharn in ruin cleansed of humanity, they weren't very stubborn or well trained either. As the town came into view it was dimly lit in the darkness and as Tharien came to a stop clearly thinking about something so too did the others, Ea and Dao eventually went on ahead coming to the shore of the beach.
Few Eladrin were there walking about and mingling with one another while some recognized Ea and her frequently hired assassin. There was some amount of calm in the air graced by tranquility due to the fact Starngatha's influence was no longer part of the land. The Tiefling started to wonder if the Eladrin of the vale were taking their new home for granted, while well protected so too was Majharn supposed to be.
Tharien looked around briefly for the nearest raised surface, moving over to it before sitting down heavily, a strong melancholy feeling overwhelming him. Right now he didn't know what he wanted to do, or what he should do, and so, stuck on the edge of a decision, he waited, his mind trying to decide what he should do next.
Rillas, having seen Ea and Dao heading into the settlement, followed after them curiously, having shifted back into his natural form. The little wilden looked around at the places and people with wide curious eyes, which seemed to widen (impossibly so) when he laid sight of the Ent that held the home of Jamorin. He hadn't met an ent in a long time, he had an instinctive memory of one, but this was practically a new experience for the druid. On light feet he made his way over to the Ent, staring up at the much larger forest being, not saying anything, just staring curiously.
The Tiefling and her companion left to find somewhere they could eat or drink something. Rillas wandered off towards Marty who stood eerily still so much so that he stood out from the rest of the unmoving trees in the vale. There was something the Ent felt about the one approaching him causing him to slur intrinsically into the Ent language.
"Your roots are of Wrathwood child?"
As the Ent spoke it came to life with it's long arms slowly drawing themselves from his crown and eyes slowly cracking open. The very ground around the being rumbled subtly from the ancient forgotten words that were rolling heavily from his lips.
"Are you a godlike being?"
"We are of Wrathwood elder one" the Wilden responded in the same language, speaking respectfully to the much older being as he felt was appropriate, "we would not dream to call ourselve godlike, we are what we are, even if we do not know what that might be" he blinked amber coloured eyes up at the large being, unsure why such a question would be directed at him, he might be a unique being, certainly he hadn't met one like himself, but to be compared to a god seemed ludicrous to him.
"We do not understand why you would ask us such a question elder one"
oOo
Tharien let out a sigh before getting off his rock, searching for a comfortable looking place to lay down. Despite the fact that he didn't need to sleep, it was still a pleasant experience at times, and this was one of those times. Curling at the mossy base of a tree, the wizard drifted off into a light sleep, an eye of alarm set up to wake him should someone approach.
It's hands came to rest on the front of it's trunk as eyes closed with an audible crackling of the Ent's wooden frame. A heavy sigh left it's mouth before speaking again to the Wilden, surely the young one that stood before Marty was special in a way.
"Whatever you are be sure you are made of it. There are no others like you."
Aerendis who'd been wandering around after having lost both the trail of Tharien and his other companions eventually stumbled down the road leading to where Rillas and Marty were speaking. Lacking grace he practically tripped as he came within speaking distance of the two looking first at Rillas and then the gigantic tree speaking some manner of language he couldn't dream of trying to utter.
"Oh hey I remember you that big tree the old guy lives in. Martha right? Come to think of it now that I see you both together that makes me wonder if Rillas is a tree man."
"We believe 'boy' is the correct term considering our state of development" Rillas responded, looking down at his base form which was indeed still young. He didn't really know what else to say because he had very little idea what he actually was, so the paladin could very well be correct in his assessment.
Whatever else he was going to say was cut off when a small figured zoomed over, clinging to Aerendis' leg. If the Paladin were to look down he'd see the silky black hair and vibrant green eyes that belonged to Divayth staring back up at him. The young Eladrin's grip was rather strong for one so young, and he looked up at his second foster father in obvious concern.
"....you're back" he murmured quietly, almost inaudible.
"He is not an Ent and will not grow large."
Marty rumbled off before returning to slumber sensing that with the arrival of the child Rillas and Aerendis would be distracted by other things. Jamorin hobbled out of his home having heard the exchange of words between his house and the Wilden, the old wizard examined the young one intently leaning on a cane he brought with him. Meanwhile Aerendis picked up the small child moving away from the old wizard knowing a thing or two about arcanists and their deep interest in things causing them to become agitated very easily by disturbances.
"So you're what Starngatha said was living in that forest before she got all bent and crooked. Here I was thinking she was crazy and just trying to take hold of Fey atmosphere to wield as a weapon. I think I know what you are."
---
"For how long I am not sure but we aren't leaving right away."
The Paladin was just a little bit stupid when it came to empathy but he really didn't know what to say or think anymore. One day he left the Abbey and it all turned into this, he'd saved the survivors of Majharn with his friends four times already. Corellon did say they were meant for something but the oracles also said that Aerendis was a cursed child doomed to be the end of his own race.
"We could grow large if we wanted to" Rillas retorted with the indignanty of a child who has had their pride wounded, "we just prefer to be in the form we were granted" he finished, crossing his arms over his chest as he had seen Tharien do when annoyed. The wilden looked at the elder Eladrin curiously, amber eyes with the oddly shaped pupils, "regardless, we do not blame you for thinking that the Starngatha was wrong, it was rotten through and needed to be removed" his eyes flashed with something akin to malice, the anger he felt at Starngatha's defiling of his forest still fresh in his mind, "we ensured that the Starngatha was removed from ourself, its taint cut out so we could grow strong"
The wilden spoke both as himself and Wrathwood itself, though whether Jamorin would be able to pick this was a matter of debate. Surprisingly the childlike forest creature didn't ask the Eladrin to expand on his belief of what the young Wilden actually was. As far as Rillas was concerned, he was what he was, and that's all that he needed to know.
~
Divayth's small hands grasped at Aerendis' armour, climbing up the larger Eladrin until he was clinging onto his side, hoping to be held, "Why are you leaving?" the child murmured, making sure his grip didn't falter, "and where is papa? Is he hurt daddy?" wide eyes seemed to begin to brim with tears at the thought. Aerendis and Tharien had become like a second set of parents to him and he didn't want to lose either of them.
"An avatar is it? in all my years I have seen a new race spawn only twice. They were both failures though and did not germinate... well I'm not one to try and alter natural order."
The elder was a lot less curious than he probably should have been but sensed that the group would not be able to depart so quickly concerning Aerendis with the child they'd left in the care of Highvale. Jamorin already knew what had occurred in what was Majharn but told nobody, at least not yet. After making a sign of good faith with his hands the man climbed back into his house off to return to wizardly dealings.
---
"It's because more bad things might be coming. Your father is uninjured, didn't tell me where he was going but I know he's in town."
Aerendis the armored goliath of an elf picked up the boy supporting him with one arm standing on the spot for a few moments in deep thought about the circumstances he was left in. Shortly he turned towards Rillas not particularly wanting to bother any of the other members of his party at the moment.
"So what do we do from here Rillas? oh I must have forgotten. The boy I hold in my arms is Tharien's child and unless I'm being stupid again you haven't met."
"Why do you ask us? We are out of our forest and do not know how such things work" Rillas replied, looking at the Eladrin child with mild curiousity, "we imagine that the other ones would have a better idea of what is needed to be done, especially your mate" amber eyes looked unblinkly at the paladin, unaware of just how creepy that might appear for another being.
Divayth blinked at the explanation before frowning. "Oh" he said in a small voice, fingers curling against Aerendis' broad shoulder as he thought. "Hopefully you can stay for a little while. Master Jamorin takes care of me, but I miss you, and the other children are boring" he murmured softly, leaning his head against Aerendis.
oOo
At least two weeks would pass, Tharien entering the settlement the morning after their arrival. He would split his time between caring for Divayth and preparing for the journey into the human world, making potions and preparing any items that the group thought would be useful.
It was morning this day, very early morning and Aerendis was out and about in the vale being alone. For some reason even though elves didn't sleep morning always had a way of being a time of very low activity. He stood at the beach staring at the sun by the cliff where the group had first seen the Hippocampi, of course Jamorin eventually and silently joined him walking out to the end of the rock formation staring at the sea. The Fey Warden stared at Jamorin for more than a few seconds thinking about his duties, he was slave to Corellon but also wizards though nothing in him made Aerendis humble at all in the presence of either.
Majharn was safe for now and no new attacks had been mounted but now what? he thought silently to himself while kicking up some of the sand. The adventure started abruptly and Majharn went kaboom but was making the charred barren land where a trade capital used to be really enough? by now he was making himself nuts by brooding over such matters. The people here seemed pretty ignorant, too willing to settle happily with the idea that the humans were gone.
"Light flows our war of mocking words, and yet, behold, with tears mine eyes are wet."
Tharien made his way in search of Jamorin, wishing to speak with the elderly Eladrin. He found him with Aerendis standing at the beach, apparently taking in the view. Sea green eyes stared at the water wistfully, remembering its loving embrace, the desire to simply sink into its depths nearly taking his breath away. Steeling himself, he approached the other two Eladrin, booted feet crunching in the sand.
"I'm going to open the portal today" the small wizard stated without preamble, "its been enough time for us to rest and contemplate the situation. Master Jamorin, I was hoping that you would be able to watch the portal after whomever is willing to go has stepped through. It wouldn't do for the humans to get another foothold here" he tugged at his sleeves, not looking at the others, his mind focused on the thought of stepping through that portal into the land of the humans.
"Why not open it in the restored forest of Wrathwood?"
It was his first question and it was a good question all things considered the only reason the forest had been rendered to a useless state was due to a foul Eladrin earning it's trust and taking it from the inside out. Aerendis didn't have very much to say according to the situation at all, Ea and Dao joined the others at this point happening upon the beach at the time of the conversation. The Fey and it's sea went unusually quiet now as if the realm itself was considering the seriousness of having it's children leave it's protection.
"I'm...not fond of the idea of humans taking even a step into our realm, and they're supposed to be a cunning species. I thought perhaps that a guardian might be best" the young wizard admitted, "but I'll defer to your judgement if you feel it would be better" he took a breath, savouring the salty tang of the ocean. Though he had had troubles here, and quite a few of them, he still enjoyed the fey and didn't like the thought of leaving.
He was resigned to the idea though, until they could be sure that the humans couldn't get back through, the fey was not safe. Humans could be very persistent in things such as this, so they would need to show them that it wasn't worth even trying.
After sighing heavily the older Eladrin hobbled towards Tharien his hair blowing wildly in the wind as it picked up, he stopped short of the wizard leaning onto his cane with both hands.
"Open your portal here then and go but move with discretion."
Ea and Dao couldn't be sure what they were talking about nor could they guess if it sounded important or not, Elven always sounded important no matter who was speaking it. Aerendis however walked up to Tharien looking around for Rillas as it was pretty odd for him to be absent.
Tharien nodded, his hand reaching into a belt pouch and pulling out the shruken device. With a casual wave of his hand the portal regained its original size, the ocean looming out behind it. As the wizard began to go through the procedure of activating it, a rodent slipped out from his collar, hopping off his shoulder and shifting back into the familiar form of Rillas.
The tiny druid took a moment to look out over the ocean before turning to the group of creatures he had decided to accompany, "we will miss ourself" he stated pensively, looking back towards Wrathwood, "but we have a debt to fulfil, and we shall do so" he tugged at his plantmatter armour, settling it around himself comfortably.
Tharien's attention was fully on the portal until he had it open, before he addressed the others, "well, its now or never, I took the liberty of making sure everything was packed if you decided to come, but if you do not wish to, I will not hold it against you" the slender wizard gestured absently, their packs bobbing along towards them, "we don't have much time, and there's a chance the portal will be noticed, so whatever you decide, decide quickly."
He would probably have to be the last to enter the portal, so it didn't close on the others.
Taking heed of the wizard's words the party took their things all entering one by one until Tharien was the last left so that he could safely close it on the way end. When the emerged after what felt like being picked up and thrown a great distance Aerendis stumbled forward holding his side as Ea held her arms out to keep balance. It wasn't quite like when they'd traveled to the Shadowfell for sure, their surroundings looked to be the site of a bombing. The earth was blackened and what trees should have been there were either burnt, half dead or mere sticks in the ground.
On this side of the portal it too looked worse for wear broken in many places. Both Ea and Tharien would easily be able to tell that whoever had been using the portal was doing so very badly, crude use of the arcane was very apparent. Other than that the portal seemed to be literally in the middle of nowhere and where the ground wasn't scorched grass managed to grow and a short distance away was a crossroads. The paths were all dirt and at the crossroads was a large sign with directional planks hanging off of it via chains written entirely in human tongue.
There was one name on the sign that was enchanted to be readable by anyone who approached it and that was "Lord Marfalcon Tamrikos" followed by "Sole ruler of Jolindur the land that ran out of wars". Within sight was a fairly small poorly guarded human settlement but the other way down the path yielded nothing to be seen for miles.
"Awfully quiet isn't it?"
Aerendis quipped as Dao began to speak in response.
"Nobody's here or they're good enough to hide even from myself. I doubt anyone escaped our attack and the people of Jolindur are cocky enough to believe no news is good news."
"It is" the wizard answered, looking around with a slight sneer, "why would their portal be here? I would have thought that they would have moved it to a more secure location...or at least guarded it more" the slight eladrin remarked as sea green eyes examined their surroundings his lips pursed at the very crude use of magic that niggled at his senses like a broken fingernail, or a chipped tooth. With that in mind he began to see if he could do something about the portal, maybe he could take it with him like he had its twin before, or maybe he could simply prevent it from being used by someone less skilled than him...considering how clumsy the arcane power surrounding the area was, that would probably stop the humans from using it again for a while, at least until they managed to get a mildly competant spell user to go near it.
Rillas meanwhile had taken two steps through the portal before curling up on the ground in a ball, his face buried in his knees as he went still. His blue green skin seemed to simultaneously pale and brown slightly, the buds around his neck looking rather dry and leaves at the end of his vines curling on themselves. Even his bark 'clothing' looked a worse for wear.
