"Rather foolish to assume that we'd willingly work with someone like yourself" Tharien stated, his eyes narrowed at the individual identified as Dao, his sword raising slightly and his wand pointed directly at the changeling, the wizard unwavering in his suspicon of this new stranger who clearly did't give a damn about anyone but themselves and what they could get out of others. This was not the sort of person he'd trust near him, or anyone he cared about.

"Ent?" Rillas queried, "like this?" his body shifted, skin becoming bark, limbs becoming thin branches, hair turning to leaves that rustled slightly as the Wilden shifted into the shape of a very small, very young ent, his head tilting to the side in curiousity.

"Who said anything about willingly working with me? I'm going to follow you around whether you like it or not. Ea has a knack for getting herself into messes which result in shiny objects."

His eyes flashed over the wizard's weaponry as he faced the group full on watching the strange plant like creature morph becoming even more like an Ent.

"If you're going to attack me you'd best all do it at once or you'll find yourself short one member folks."

Dao was very sure of himself speaking only to agitate, he found the best way to know someone was getting under there skin. Pulling his hood back revealed that he had taken the form of Tharien illuminated by the moonlight.

"I'm only here because I owe Ea something but she also owes me."

His voice had mimicked Tharien's near perfectly but even Dao could only pull of the appearance half the time.

Sneering, Tharien made a gesture, surrounding the group with a magic circle before turning his attention back to the changeling that stood before him, his lips moved slightly as he whispered a chant, trying to place a hunter's curse on the little scumbag that dared try and inflict himself on them like some sexually transmitted disease. As soon as that was done he raised earthen walls around the trickster, ten foot high barricades with surfaces as smooth as he could make them, so as to not give the scoundrel a chance to climb up and out of the enclosure.

"Hrmph" the wizard grumbled, sheathing first his sword then his wand

Rillas battered at the leaves that flitted across his vision, his attention having wavered from the confrontation out of boredom, much like the small child that he resembled.

"Tharien please let him go. We both really have debts to one another and I'm his best costumer, mostly because I'm the only one still living for good reason."

Taking the club from her back it thudded against the ground and she stared at Aerendis who was contemplative not having said or done anything.

"If you refuse I shall have to break him out myself and make use of his services. He's nothing but a tool Tharien and you can't let his words mean anything to you."

At this Aerendis decided he would have more of a chance convincing Tharien than anyone at the moment.

"Well if he's a tool I'd like to use him."

Pointed ears raised slightly as he stared at Ea, the tone of the tiefling's request coming across as quite condescending to his ears. Teeth gritted as red crept across his face at Aerendis' words, his temper flaring even more. A rough gesture with his hand had a slab of earth sliding across the high walls that he had formed around Dao, cutting off even light from the changeling. Another gesture dissolved the magic circle from around the group and set it around the earthen box that kept the irritating male prisoner, making it so that no one but he could cross it.

"You want to use him? Have fun getting him out" the little wizard spat, his eyes practically glowing as his aura swirled around him in agitation. Stomping his foot he summoned a camp with three tents and a lumpy 'blanket' with Aerendis' name on it before swirling around and storming off. He might have been absolutely furious but he was able to realise that if he stayed he might do something he would regret. The sucessive ritual use had drained him somewhat, but his anger kept him from realising it.

Coming to a clearing he started hurling debris around with prestidigitation, until his anger was spent and he slumped down against a tree to catch his breath

"Pelor's saggy nutsack" he muttered, running a hand through his hair as he tried to calm himself

oOo

Rillas looked around, somewhat confused at the outburst "We do not understand" he remarked plaintively, shifting back to his natural form as he tried to contemplate just what had happened.

Fire erupted around Ea's very being at Tharien's stubbornness and selfishness concerning the matter. Dropping her club onto the ground she spread her arms singing loudly in Untheric rather than soothing tones her voice was utterly demonic. Her song served to dominate Tharien for a moment but she was unable to figure out how to use his body to drop the rituals amounting to nothing really happening.

Aerendis watched dumbfounded as events unfolded but he figured helping Ea was most important before the angry demon did anything like blowing up the world. He stared at the magic circle knowing more than enough about it's workings and walked briskly. Breaking it's boundary with his body the Paladin was racked with pain causing him to cry out which he'd never done from any blow before.

Knowing nothing other than rage Ea retrieved her club and ran at the earthen structure ignoring Aerendis' slumped mass having taken upon himself Tharien's mighty power. Again and again she slammed the weapon into the wall creating minor earthquakes with every collision.

"God fucking dammit!"

Rillas just stared in further confusion, unsure why the paladin was now unconcious on the ground, or the tiefling was beating on the wall of earth. Frowning to himself he shifted into a small bird and flew over to the downed eladrin, hopping on the paladin's head and staring over at the tiefling woman as she kept attacking the wall. It was starting to crack now, and he didn't really trust the creature that had been stuck in there, after all, the small eladrin thing had locked it up for a reason, hadn't it? These creatures confused him more than the moonclan, and that was a whole lot.

He'd just have to try and figure it out for himself he guessed, they were ignoring him after all.

oOo

Having calmed down, the small wizard pondered what to do next. He didn't want to go back to the camp yet, not only would it be awkward, but the argument might flare up again and he might do or say something he regretted. Sighing he created some eyes of alarm around the base of the tree he had been resting against before hauling himself up into its branches, finding a nice spot that he could lay on without risk of falling, his eyes closing slowly as he dozed off, hidden from sight and protected by his invisible alarms.

With a final mighty heave Ea managed to crack open the side of one of the walls dropping her club as Dao squeezed himself out. Immediately she grabbed him by the collar and stared with burning eyes into his.

"I'll pay you if you never open your stupid mouth again."

After throwing him onto the ground she tried to calm herself down falling onto her backside singing as softly as she could. Words still came out in harsh demonic tone every once in a while but her magic served to revitalize Aerendis.

As Dao lay on his back he soon sat up looking around noticing and partially glad that the Wizard had gone away, he was no scrub. But beyond that he noticed their numbers were less by one more.

"Where is the tiny Ent?"

"Thought I told you to shut up."

"Curiosity kills the cat, Ea."

Rillas remained in his bird shape, his little talons scratching Aerendis' forehead slightly as he hopped around, his attention solely on Ea and Dao as he tried to puzzle out exactly what was going on. Being unused to other sentient beings, the small Wilden didn't have any point of reference for what they were doing, except maybe the Moonclan, and, well, even they would have moved onto some other idiocy by now, but it seemed like this was going to last a while.

For now he would stay on Aerendis and wait

It didn't take long for the properties of the melodic words to restore Aerendis to consciousness. He sat up and looked at the wall then at Dao figuring not a lot of time had passed since he decided to break the circle. Though Aerendis did not like Dao at all after that first impression it was better to keep infighting to a minimum.

"Did Rillas go somewhere too?"

He asked only to receive a shrug from Ea. By the looks of things they would be resting here for a while, the Paladin hoped the Daywatcher's night would last beyond their hiatus.

---

After the group rested for a good long time the night seemed unforgiving like it was fighting against the daylight. Sehanine's moon was starting to set and with it the illuminating light, soon the land would be covered in darkness even though night was coming to an end. Aerendis, Ea and Dao stood ready to continue the journey in the shadow of the man made earth monument waiting for the others.

Rillas spent the night flitting around the trees as a bird, essentially doing the same sort of stuff he had done most his life before meeting these people. He didn't know what they were doing, or why, since no one seemed able or willing to explain anything to him, so he just acted as though he was a part of nature, finding serenity in his communion with the natural order. The little Wilden didn't consider that they would begin looking for him, he was just there after all, and they were aware that he could change his shape, all of them except the newcomer of course, but still. He'd wait until someone had the presence of mind to actually let him know what was going on.

oOo

Tharien awoke slowly, and stretched out on his tree branch carefully, looking all the world like a cat after a good nap. Settling back into his resting place he summoned an orb of magic and began poking and playing around with it, shaping the raw power in a game that served as a simple control exercise. He wasn't as angry anymore, just resentful of the other two, but he sure as hell wasn't about to contritely come back as if he were in the wrong.

"Rillas we need you to return to us!"

Ea shouted picking up her club from the ground thumping it against the ground a few times. Not only did she have to find the wizard but now the child had run off and it was all Dao's fault. Taking out her Songbow she aimed at the Assassin then strafed across the field before pointing straight up. Light filled the area as a magic arrow charged up and then was fired straight up into the air, she watched it until she could no longer see it.

"Do you think that arrow will ever come back down?"

The subject didn't actually concern her at all but she was questioning herself as to how Dao was still alive. He was always testing her patients and she was always letting him live. Even now he was delaying their progress and giving the humans extra time to spread through the Fey. Aerendis just fumbled around absent minded before slumping into the earth box completely by accident laying in the darker than dark atmosphere within.

The wilden ceased his early morning chirping and shifted back to his natural state, greenish blue legs swinging absently as he sat on the tree branck where moments before there had been a small bird, "how can one return when they have never left?" he asked curiously, tilting his head to the side in confusion, "we thought you were aware we were here, you have seen us do that before"

Hopping off the branch, he knelt at the base of the tree and started poking at something among the roots, seemingly done with interacting with the others, but that was not the case "have you finished acting like moonclan now? We tired of it very quickly?" the question was delivered in a completely innocent tone, but there was definitely a hint of reprimand in the words.

"I was not watching as you departed. It is better to say I was not aware when I was angry."

The Tiefling watched the Wilden who'd decided to reveal himself, everyone was a little exhausted from the scene that broke out. Moral reserves were hitting an all time low for sure but giving up was out of the question.

"Yes we acted like Moonclan because we do not all posses innocence enough to let words and actions pass. We need you to help us find our Moonclan Wizard."

It was better that Rillas associated irrationality with the Moonclan because the word and the people it described weren't all that different from one another. Ea fixed herself up and equipped her club kicking at Aerendis' leg prompting him to rise.

"You can blame Dao for everything that went on seeing as he's a Moonclan ringleader."

"Wizard, wizard, wizard" the Wilden tried the sound out on his tongue before walking to the other side of the camp, his body shifting back into the entform he had taken before, young enough that he revelled in the new feelings of playing in this body with its twig like fingers and branch like limbs. Without further ado he bent down and began rumbling at some nearby plantlife, the cadences of entish flowing from his mouth. He didn't have to speak it to talk with the plantlife, but he wanted to, a punishment for being ignored for a whole night by those he had decided to accompany. The little Wilden drew it out, using the most complex entish he knew to ask the question, before finally nodding and standing up.

"We sought the other and we found him, you will follow us, and tread carefully, we are told he is close to ignition" the druid blinked slowly at the three adults before jumping up into the trees and leaping through the forest from branch to branch, leading the trio to the location that the wayward wizard had gone to.

oOo

One of his eyes of alarm alerted the particular wizard of the approach of his 'companions', though he didn't make an effort to even move from his spot, his eyes only turning to look at them briefly to judge distance and speed before he casually hurled a couple of magic missiles, aimed to strike the ground in front of Aerendis and Dao. Dao because he had crossed Tharien, and Aerendis for being such a stupid moron. Of course, the small wizard didn't realise why he had gotten so upset at Aerendis' words last night, nor would he admit to if even if he did know.

The Paladin seemed very loose on his feet clanking around on the spot as if he was unable to stand straight up. More than once Ea put a harsh hand down on his shoulder so that he'd stand still while they waited for Rillas to do what he was doing. She felt the child was upset with the group and he was quite right to be upset, they gave him their patience to preform their request without question.

"Ignition? what on earth?"

Aerendis questioned as the three hastened their footing to keep up with the small Wilden. It wasn't long before they found Tharien who'd launched some missiles at Aerendis and Dao, the three stopped and Ea stared at the ground where they struck for a moment. Aerendis fell over with a loud clank being quite dizzy and Dao decided not to get any closer than he had to.

"Thank you very much Rillas."

She said with a curtsey before returning her attention to the Wizard.

"Tharien are you calm?"

Ea didn't exactly know how to handle the Eladrin spell caster when he was pouting but asking Aerendis to do it was out of the question since it appeared his brains were fried by whatever residual arcane energy permeated his body. Pressing her fingertips together in front of her chest she looked up at Tharien her demonic eyes burning brightly. Every second lost here was a second extra for the humans to entrench themselves in the Fey.

"No, not really" the small wizard stated cordially, "right now the only male approaching that I can stand to see is Rillas, and I don't even know if he has a gender, let alone is male" he flicked his fingers casually as he stood up and dropped from the tree, floating to the ground without turning to look at the other four, his body stiff and obviously still angry, "because of this I wish to get to Majharn as quickly as possible so I can spend my rage on killing other targets. I cannot guarantee what will happen should either of a pair of idiots crosses my vision" and with that he began walking off, heading in the direction of Majharn at a brisk pace, not once turning to look at the rest of the group.

"We are male....at least we think so, that was what we were told we were" Rillas commented, managing to sound confused yet offended at the same time.

Ea placed her hands onto her hips and pursed her lips thinking about what the Wizard had said as he walked away from the group. It wasn't the first time he'd been this emotional but that really didn't matter so long as they had the same goals in mind. Clearing her throat she turned around heading to where Aerendis lay gripping him by the shoulders and giving him a good shake.

"I thought you might be male but I also thought you were some kind of forest spirit. Never bothered to ask if you had a family or others like yourself for that reason."

The Changeling regarded Rillas with curiosity and a tiny amount of fear. His friend certainly traveled with all sorts of dangerous people and it was natural for him to be afraid of the unknown. What he knew for sure as of now was that Rillas was not an Ent and could change his form.

"Come on idiots."

She said earning a sharp retort from Aerendis who pushed himself to his feet.

"I'm not stupid."

---

As the group moved onward it took them but a short while to finally come upon the pier where one would either sail or be teleported to Majharn. In the distance they could see it lit by torchlight and a single tent to the side with human guards occupying the dock. Something welled up inside Ea as her eyes fell on the sight of anything attempting to halt their progress, she placed a hand on Aerendis' sword hand as he began to draw his weapon.

"We need to handle this delicately... or go the route of ballistics as I'm sure will happen."

Looking to Rillas the Muse spoke again just as true darkness veiled the Fey as Sehanine's moon descended completely over the horizon.

"I can only imagine now how you felt having Starngatha occupy your forest."

"We are the only one of our kind we know of....we just are male, we think" Rillas remarked as the group moved onward, the little wilden sounding very much confused and curious at the same time. He was rather good at portraying a couple of things at once.

oOo

Tharien stared out across the water of Majharn, his hand coming up to trace the scar that stood out plainly beneath his left eye. Majharn was the price paid for his folly, and he would have to do his best to atone for it. A few muttured words summoned up the reptillian mounts he had created for the Majharn refuges, mounting one with ease he waited until the three other adults had climbed on, a stare all they would get until they were ready. When they were another spell would turn them invisible.

"We'll get to the shore, see what's happening, and then come up with a plan. Rillas, meet us over there, I'm sure you'll be able to at some point" the wizard stated before spurring his mount onwards, the large lizard slipping into the dark water quietly as it made its way towards the ruins of Majharn.

Rillas frowned slightly before taking the form of a small native bird once more, flying above Tharien, the unusual ripples in the water the only give away of his position.

By the darkness of the Fey with no moon in the sky the group was in a perfect position. Clearly the humans who had not been in the realm for very long weren't prepared for a moonless night. The group mounted the lizards wading into the strangely cold water, it seemed that Mystra herself left the location of the ruined city. Ea stared forlornly at Majharn lit up almost as brightly as it used to be when it was the functioning trade capital of the Fey.

Tents and wooden structures littered the landscape however there was a small unlit shore off to the side just behind the burnt earthen mound that was the spiral staircase leading to the portal humans were now in control of. Fortunately for the group they could all get there without detection as the humans would only be able to see as far as the lights of their base cast glow.

"We can land over there where it is darkest and strategize."

Aerendis stated thinking the same thing as Ea and Dao who were going to say the same thing if nobody else hadn't.

Tharien leapt off of his mount as soon as he got within range, dismissing the creature back to where it had come from. He would then wait for the others to arrive so that they could discuss what they were going to do next. Slender fingers tugged at his armour, making sure that he was ready to fight these enemies and take back Majharn. He almost wished for a helm like those in his mother's armoury, the tall, imposing armour would have helped at least somewhat in calming himself.

oOo

Rillas took note of where the ripples ended, assuming that the group would gather there. Once he was assured of the location he flew over Majharn itself, looking around to see what was there while keeping out of sight of the guards. He would then return to the group to inform them of what he had learned through his fly over reconnaisance.

As they all came on shore it appeared that nobody in the human encampment had noticed at all that anything was amiss. It was a little unnerving not knowing exactly how strong their foes were but it did look like a lot of fodder and very few well trained soldiers. Perhaps they were underestimating the Fey or simply not expecting a group of well trained heroes to arrive. Without saying anything Dao disappeared perhaps unnoticed by the others as the darkness they stood in rendered him invisible.

"I'm not sure how you we're to go about this but it's not like we can just let them exist here."

Ea said quietly thinking about the possibility of their foes being better than they looked. Obviously outnumbered but unsure as to whether or not they were outmatched. A few moments went by before Dao returned with a parchment in his hand.

"Documented plans of their campaign. Humans design their headquarters so obviously."

He'd hand the important looking paper to whoever would try to read the language it was written in. The Tiefling of the group was perturbed by her own thoughts so much she almost forgot her ability to read any language snatching the paper and donning her spectacles.

"I only need a very dim light and I can read whatever it is that you found."

Rillas landed nearby and turned back into his natural state, moving over towards where he could hear the voices of their companions. "From what we saw, there are many of the humans, but the majority are less strong than we are, we could probably handle a large number of those ones alone" the small Wilden stated quietly.

Tharien meanwhile whispered a short word, a very dim light forming at the end of his finger as he held it out, just enough to read the human scroll, and hopefully find something of some importance.

"Well there's nothing here Rillas hasn't confirmed. It says that their next expedition was to happen in a few days, they're planning to find the capital and take it."

Ea said as she recited the human writing as translated by her magical eye-wear. At the end of the paper it said the document was to be destroyed meaning it was fairly fresh and they were quite fortuitous in obtaining it. Stowing away her glasses and the highly classified document the Tiefling sighed quietly.

"It would take us no time to clear out the camp and they haven't had a chance to spread out yet."

Aerendis spoke relieved as much as someone could be all things considered. The humans were all in Majharn and grossly underestimating their enemies probably because Majharn had no real military.

"If they're still entering by means of the portal we have our chance to stop the incursion before it begins."

Tharien contemplated their options, a slightly evil grin on his invisible face as he thought of their luck. Few strong opponents meant that they could wipe the virus that was humanity from the ruins of Majharn relatively quickly, something that he knew to be desireable despite a strong urge to drag out the conflict and make them suffer for the indignities that the Fey had suffered by their invasion.

"The way I see it is that we have two main options. We can either start hear and blast our way to the portal, or we can try and sneak invisibly to the portal, disable it if possible, and then fight our way through whatever is left of the humans at that point" the wizard stated, not quite sure what path he'd rather try out and thus putting the idea forward to the others to see what they thought.

Rillas stayed quiet, having no experience whatsoever in this sort of thing

"I think we ought to just jump on them. They aren't likely to have immediate backup with the quality of operations present and if Dao can blind them the same way he did us we get the best of both methods."

Aerendis stated plainly giving deep thought and consideration to each plan. Disabling the portal probably wouldn't be necessary besides a part of him actually wanted to go through it and crush whatever was on the other side. It was a strange feeling of malice for one so dutiful and respectful of the Fey never having had a reason to hate or dislike anyone in particular.

"Give the word and I can remove their light sources in a single go. But how will you guys be able to see?"

The assassin said in response to Aerendis' input.

"As long as we can cleanse their taint, I do not care which approach we take" Tharien stated flatly, shifting his shoulders slightly in preparation for the fight that was soon to come, he was trained for battle and he was eager to engage in it, "as for our own vision, I can make something on each of our bodies let off a light soft enough to allow us to see, but not enough that human eyes can take advantage of it. From what I recall they have far worse eyesight in darkness than we do"

Rillas was quiet, focusing on himself and the feeling of the land around him. It seemed to be in pain, rejecting the foreign invaders that tried to build on top of it. The Wilden's thoughts drew back to Ea's comparison of these human creatures and the rot that had tainted his home. It seemed that he would be repaying these beings with a favour alike to that which they had done him.

"Better act quickly then."

The darkness they were in started to ebb outward slowly obviously due to Dao's shadow magic. He crept along the edge of the blackness towards one of the human lookouts completely oblivious to the encroaching shadow. Then the first casualty of their battle had fallen with no sound sans the blade slicing the air before it came into contact with flesh.

Aerendis pulled the cat's eye headband down over one eye watching through the darkness. These humans were as weak as the infantry sent to siege Majharn, a battle they only won out of pure savagery and lack of regard for their own kind. As quietly as he could the Eladrin pulled his blade from it's sheathe waiting and watching before he moved knowing his armor was quite noisy. Ea had her songbow drawn already with a magically crafted arrow plucked ready to find it's targets through the darkness as soon as she was given some light.

Tharien murmured a few arcane words, a ring on his finger, Rillas' totem, and Ea's bow would begin to glow softly, an unnatural colour meant to give them a psychological edge over any humans that managed to see them. Taking a deep breath the wizard gathered his power around him, a mantle of magical energy resting on his shoulders, his sea green eyes beginning to glow dimly in the darkness.

A crooked grin spread across his face as he began moving, sending a telepathic message to the others through the enchanted circlet that rested on his brow 'let's go'

Walking at a brisk pace he approached the nearest human, his sword leaving its scabbard with barely a whisper as it sliced through the air, aimed for the man's neck. Once he was down the wizard moved onwards, never increasing his speed as he began hacking his way through the weak humans, the more hands on approach to their slaughter deeply satisfying in a way that he hadn't really expected. Any human that tried to get into ranged combat with him would quickly be treated with a magic missile.

oOo

Rillas fingered the sharpened tip of his javelin, looking out over the ruins of Majharn briefly before running on light feet in roughly the same direction as Tharien, the small weapon aimed at weak spots in the humans' armour, the little druid making sure to cleanly kill every opponent that he faced. There wasn't the time for dragging out the fights.

First from her bow fired a chaos bolt bouncing nonstop between targets hunting for a new one as it assuredly destroyed the last it came into contact with. Afterward a hail of magical arrows came each finding their mark dropping most of the soldiers before they could notice. Aerendis began to think that for such a war ready group of creatures they weren't handling an ambush very well at all.

It was time for him to make his move after Tharien went forward. The Paladin ignored Dao's cover Fey stepping right out into the open, a slew of human soldiers converged on his position with weapons raised. That was the last mistake they had ever made as Aerendis waved his Star of Corellon creating a hallowed circle of runes. The light burned the creatures and they screamed wasting away into nothingness quickly. A soldier stopped just short of the edge of Aerendis' divinity, the Paladin holding his sword high commanded it to ignite as he tossed it burying into the chest of said soldier before returning to his hand.

Sticking to the darkness of course was the newest addition to the party who after making strange symbols with his hands summoned a clone of himself. The clone waded into the open cutting down any opponents it found while the creator went on to make the shadows grow arms snapping many human necks quickly before receding.
