Tharien followed Jamorin back to Marty, listening and watching as the elderly eladrin scried the humans of Majharn, gritting his teeth as their activities were revealed. How dare they defile Majharn further with their attempts to take over the land. There was no way they could allow the humans to get a foothold into the fae. "Looks like we'll need to go back to Majharn then" Tharien said, his aqua eyes narrowed in anger as he stared at the scene that Jamorin had scried. The mere sight of them caused his blood to boil in anger. "But there's no way I'm taking Divayth back there" he mused, hugging the boy tightly at the thought. |

"Well it's not like he wont be safe here and the other refugees seem to like it." The older male said whilst tapping the orb so that the disturbing imagery would go away, it was really too bad that he couldn't do anything about it from his current position. Ea chose not to look at the orb as it wasn't a sight she wanted to frequent. Aerendis folded his arms remaining indignant. "Doubt he's going to want to leave you though Tharien." |

"Be that as it may, he certainly wouldn't be safe going there, and if you think I'm going to end up retiring to a quiet life then you've got another thing coming. What else would you have me do?" Tharien said quietly, "besides, its not like I would leave him with just anyone" he looked down at the young boy, who had curled up in his lap and begun to nap. The wizard didn't really want to leave Divath either, but he knew that he didn't have any choice. The sort of things they were going to have to do would not be good for Divayth, not yet at least. They were not strong enough, and he was not old enough, to travel throughout the fey fighting, and that seemed to be their lot in life. Divayth may not be his biological son, but that mattered very little in the grand scheme of things, Tharien considered him his own. It was for that reason he knew that he couldn't bring the young one with them |

"Well you'd better find him someone and go to Majharn." He didn't mean to be rude with the statement but the thought of humans in the Fey had already rattled him and the fact they were making an encampment started to finally sink in. The old Eladrin clasped his hands in front of himself mumbling quietly. "Why can't you watch him?" Ea queried banking on the fact that if this man is who he said he was would be a prime choice for the job though whether or not he wanted to do it or if Tharien agreed were factors. "I would but I couldn't dare to openly ask a fellow Eladrin to send into my custody his child." |

Tharien frowned, unsure of that particular development. He knew that he couldn't take Divayth with him, but the idea of leaving him with the old Eladrin didn't sit well with him for some reason. "I mean no offence, but I think I would rather leave him with one of the families from Majharn, assuming they are settled well enough. I would be happy for you to tutor him, but..." he looked away, obviously uncomfortable with the thought of leaving the child, despite his bold words earlier, "he knows them, and after all the things he's been through, I don't want to distress him more than I have to" "Are they settled enough that they might be able to take him in?" he asked quietly, not sure how the elder would take his words. |

"They've been here for weeks now so they're quite settled I think." It was a rather cozy dale but not the sort of place you could run a business as large as the one she had before everything exploded Ea thought to herself. The population seemed to be quite small but there weren't many families native to Majharn anyway. As the negotiations were occurring the paladin shifted his weight on each foot back and forth fussing about much like Divayth tends to at times. |

"Then I guess I should go and seek them out, and we can leave in the morning" Tharien said calmly, standing up with Divayth in his arms, "thank you for your help" he bowed slightly and walked out, his staff sticking itself to his back as he walked past it. He whispered into Divayth's ear the whole trip to the Majharn refugees, trying to explain to the small child what was going to happen, and why he had to leave him here. The boy was understandably upset, but he seemed to understand more or less. Tharien sought out and quickly found one young family that had helped him look after the children back in Majharn, and after some discussion they agreed to take the young one in while Tharien and Aerendis were travelling. Tharien would spend the night with Divayth, giving and getting as much comfort as possible from the boy he considered his son. oOo The next morning Tharien had gathered his things and, after a tearful farewell with Divayth, he waited at the edge of the forest for his companions, ready to head back to Majharn once more to ensure the human infestation once and for all. |

It seemed time for the party to do a fair bit of bushwhacking as they stood at the edge of the forest however it parted generously for them as per the legends about the wood. After they stepped inside they would immediately sense it's primal magic however it was impure. A makeshift path led to a misty clearing with black growth all around. Ea felt uneasy noticing a shadowy figure dart by to her left when from behind her leaped a feral wolf slobbering and lacking any of the serenity the forest had to offer in it's creatures. From behind a wolf covered in brilliant runes attacked and pinned her to the ground receiving a burst of flame in turn while it's pack mates closed in on the group. The larger more grisly leader of the pack attacked Aerendis immediately successfully locking onto his arm with it's jaw attempting to separate him from the others. At this the two remaining lesser wolves jumped on Aerendis one doing little more than attempt to scratch his armor while the other getting a very good hold on his leg pulling him to the ground. |

As they walked the paths of the forest Tharien felt ill at ease, something about the area felt off, unnatural even, which was definitely not a good sign. Slender fingers gripped his staff tightly as he extended his aura outwards, searching for some indication of how the forest had gained this strange feeling to it. The wizard's eyes widened as the wolves struck, his magic flaring about him like an invisible cloak. Abyssal words flowed from his lips as he drew his sword from its sheath, his staff held in his left hand. A ball of fire shot down from the sky, crashing into the leader of the wolves, before flying from the grisled beast to smash into the one stuck to Aerendis' leg, the magical fire carefully controlled by Tharien's will so as not to hurt his paladin. |

The flaming ball was avoided deftly by it's main target but slammed into it's second successfully though it's grip was unrelenting. Merely the spells presence was enough to damage them as the fire lashed out burning the wolves regardless of it it had struck them or not. As they winced Aerendis pushed himself to his feet throwing the leader off his body and one of the other wolves though the third held firm. Instead of occupying himself with it the paladin identified the leader of the pack focusing his attention on it, the star around his waist glowed brightly as he swung at it with his sword. It came alive with flame while arcane energy danced around himself and his allies with the power of Righteous Smite. The wolf pack leader burst into flame and felt Aerendis' arcane fury. Ea took her club swinging it hard against the ground creating a small tremor that would knock all foes prone except for the leader. Afterward she raised a hand casting Deep Shroud over herself heavily obscuring herself with darkness. The wolf nearest to her righted itself and attempted to attack her through the shroud completely missing. Edited by Koori, Jul 26 2010, 09:04 AM.

Tharien spat out a few more words of power, encasing the last wolf that remained attached to Aerendis in a pinioning vortex, trying to remove it from his companion before sending the still present fireball into the trapped creature in an attempt to kill it quickly. Between the three of them, the crazed creatures didn't seem to stand much of a chance. Something niggled at the back of his mind, some sort of anomaly that he couldn't figure out for the life of him, and it bothered him despite the fact that he knew now was not the time to be focusing his mind elsewhere. oOo Up within the darkness of the trees, a pair of amber coloured eyes stared at the three, unblinking as they watched the fight with curiousity. |

Aerendis' canine captor was removed by the vortex and smashed with the flaming ball yet it still managed to flail in the pocket of space snarling. The paladin thrust his blade at the leader only to miss but extended his divine oath to the wolf near Ea who was still very healthy. The Tiefling pointed her wand at said wolf only to have it emit a bang and spiral into her own face having botched the spell she was trying to cast on it. It ignored it's divine marking trying to attack Ea regardless only for arcane energy to swirl around it punishing the creature. Already the leader was growing very weak unable to stand up to the flames that engulfed it or the wounds across it's body. It made a lack luster attempt to bite the paladin only to be kicked over. Tharien's spell ended dropping the wolf where it stood as it flailed about miserably and unnaturally. |

Before any of the three could do anything else, vines would shoot up and wrap around the wolves, thicker than a man's waist, with large spikes protruding at every angle. The vines curled around the crazed creatures and dragged them towards the trees on either side of the path, roots spreading to allow the still struggling creatures beneath the plantlife, before settling over the top of them and smothering them slowly with the weight and patience of many centuries of slow growth. Glowing amber eyes surveyed this from the tree tops calmly, the darkness of the wood hiding the purplish fur of the creature that they belonged to. Tharien whirled around, surprised at the turn of events, unsure of what had happened and why, a spell still on his lips even as he let the fireball die out at the lack of visible enemy anymore. There was nothing but the slow swaying of the trees and the movement of the shadows they cast. The vines seemed to have disappeared and apparently had no intention of picking off the three travellers next. "What the hell was that?" he asked, sea green eyes looking around in search of whatever had dealt with the wolves so easily. The forest was silent now, eerily so, and it had the hairs on the back of his neck on end. There was definitely something here, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to figure out what it was. |

Their spells and effects slowly ended themselves as the growth came to life swallowing up their foes effectively ending the threat. It wasn't everyday that forests came to life or to your aid but at least it was helping rather than being detrimental. "I guess it's just the forest's natural protection of the Fey. Though I don't understand why the wildlife would attack us if that were the case." Aerendis sheathed his blade and stowed away his shield looking first at Tharien then to the canopy of Wrathwood. The air was bitter and he knew it took a lot for a wolf to want to attack a person. They were feral and desperate quite obviously, probably dead now too. "Something isn't right here... the faster we get to Majharn the faster our land will be normal again." |

Tharien followed Aerendis' example and sheathed his sword, his magic folding back into his body as he settled down after the battle. He was unsettled with the sudden end to the conflict, it didn't seem normal even for a magical forest. Gathering his cloak around his body, the small wizard began to continue down the path. "Something is not right here...maybe it has something to do with that woman Jamorin mentioned. Wrathwood shouldn't be like this, it feels wrong. Its almost like the whole forest wants us gone..." he trailed off for a moment, eyes fluttering closed before opening to look around once more "its like something is draining the forest dry, corrupting it" he finished, turning to look at his two companions, the frown on his face warping the scar on his cheek slightly. "I don't really like the idea of ignoring this" oOo On padded paws the creature followed the three travellers, never leaving the branches of the trees, its eyes curiously locked on to them as it listened in on their conversation. |

"It'd probably be best not to ignore it considering where Divayth is now." The Feywarden steadily grew quieter as he spoke slowing in turn until coming to a complete stop, Ea's attention turned to Aerendis who was looking at the forest floor. His ears twitched and brow furrowed. Looking back up he merely grinned at his friends continuing along with them bringing his hands up behind his head. "We're being followed though by what I'm not sure or where it is but something is definitely here." Ea had figured that if that something were malicious it'd have attacked them by now but her concerns were with what Tharien said about the magic of the forest. Extending her own aura she tried to sense it's ebb and flow noticing herself that it was unnatural. "Do you know where it's being drained too?" |

The follower slunk back as it realised it had been detected. Its body twisted and warped until a small bird was standing in its place, hopping to another branch it flew across the pathway as the travellers aproached it, as if startled by their presence, it would follow these travellers a little more carefully from now on. Tharien's eyes were drawn to the bird but he dismissed it as he turned his attention back to Aerendis, "Oh yeah, once I picked up on it its quite easy to follow back to the source, I'm actually surprised it took me so long to notice" he answered, already beginning towards the direction of the drain, his senses rather intent on following the magic's flow. Aerendis said they were being followed, and normally that would concern the small wizard, but the Paladin seemed casual about it so there probably wasn't anything to worry about. Besides which, he was far too focused on the way the magic was being leeched from the forest. Such an act, while horrific, was also fascinating to study, if only so he knew how to counter it if ever he encountered it again. |

From that point the obvious thing to do would be to follow the wizard and his senses leading them to the source of the corruption. Aerendis had failed to notice anything strange about the bird but he was certain they were being followed. It was a few minutes of passing by twists and turns he was certain were the same ones over again until they finally found a small stone tower in the middle of a clearing. Much of the brush either removed or destroyed and what looked like abominations lumbering around. "Suppose this is our destination." Ea said as the wooden creatures took notice of course attacking them on sight at this the Tiefling tried one of her song related enchantments only for it to fall on deaf ears. Perhaps she wasn't singing it properly or they had just resisted her attempt either way she stayed back as Aerendis strode forward raising his blade which burst into flames. Bringing it down on one of them it burst into flames becoming marked as arcane energy danced around the paladin's allies increasing their fortitude. The very same tree thing shot a piece of itself at Aerendis coating his armor in a sort of painful acid, another did the same to Ea while the two remaining failed to hit Tharien at all. |

Tharien frowned as he stared at the strange wooden creatures, with a complex twist of the wrist and a few words of abyssal a fireball gathered in his hand, these things were works of a magic nealy as foul as necromancy. It wasn't even particularly complex magic, it had barely taken him a few seconds to be able to see what it was this woman had been doing to the forest. Hurling the fireball at one of the abominations, Tharien spoke, disgust clear in his voice "these things are connected, its safe to say that however many there are, they all know we're here...and they're unstable, if you fell one, stay back from it, it could be dangerous" A massive wall of thorns suddenly grew out of the ground, encircling one of the abominations in a dome of spikes as plants began sprouting along the cleared ground, impeding the movements and the view of the creatures while seemingly moving aside for the three travellers whenever it would otherwise block them. The bird from before appeared out of the trees and landed on the now green ground, its form twisting into the shape of a small boy, his skin a greenish blue, dressed in plant matter and carrying a small javelin that was simply a sharpened stick with a fire hardened tip. "We are thankful for your appearance, for it means we shall not have to suffer their hurtful presence in our heart any longer" the odd little being said as he glared at the abominations with hatred in his amber coloured eyes. |

The fireball flew towards the group exploding yet due to the nature of their damage sharing magic did a whole lot less than it should have. They stopped for a moment in recoil before moving again one of them trapped in a prison of barbs. Aerendis looked around himself connecting the sudden appearance of this brush with that boy and the earlier encounter with the wolves, his sword flickered with flame that the plants shrunk away from while still protecting him as best possible. "I don't know who you are but if you're here to help it's appreciated." With his blade he struck true again further bolstering his allies with arcane divinity as well as increasing the intensity of the flames engulfing his target. With another extension of his divine aura he marked another of the abominations. The poison had leaked into his armor causing him some pain but not enough to stop him. Ea tried her song again with it having no visible effect on their foes. In retaliation the things tried to toss around their rotting poisonous body parts again only for Rillas' spell to obscure them, one made it's mark on Ea causing her Tiefling flames to lick her aggressor. |

Tharien casually flicked a magic missile at the nearest abomination as he gathered his energy for another fireball, deciding that the sudden appearance of the strange boy was less important than dealing with these foul creatures. The abyssal words of the spell rolled off his tongue as he launched the fireball at the same abomination, the plant life that was surrounding them rapidly moving out of the way for the orb of flames, preventing it from getting burned away. The small being twisted his arms slightly, gesturing towards one of the abominations that had yet to be damaged as he cast flash freeze on it, hoping to limit how many active creatures were bothering the small group. "It is you who is helping us, and we do not forget" he said in response to Aerendis' comment, even as his bizzare eyes moved over to the wall of thorns, concentrating on shoring up the dome so that it would not dissolve back into the ground. |

Ever resilient were the plants but even if the damage against them was mitigated enough of it still got through to rattle them, Tharien's magic missile blew a hole in one while his fireball erupted blowing a fair few amount of parts off two of them. Following that Rillas' ice spell immobilized one of them while his thorn prison dug into another consequently killing the construct that Tharien had been targeting foolishly splitting it's damage between the weak one as the corpse exploded into black muck. Aerendis swung with his blade completely missing one of the weaker ones while Ea sang her song again successfully dominating the remaining creature. Taking the example of what had just happened she wondered if an explosion could be forced. Of course she found out by having it literally tackle the immobilized one exploding and infecting it with whatever the black substance did. With that their foes had no more moves as the only two left were barbed and frozen. |

With a twist of his small hands, the blue skinned being summoned another dome of thorns around the frozen abomination, tightening the domes around the creatures to ensure they would eventually be crushed and smothered to death. Turning to face the three travellers, he stared at each of them with his unsettling eyes, the amber irises and cross shaped pupils locking onto them each in turn. "We are wondering, why are you here? That is not to say that we are ungreatful for your appearance, but we have not seen those other than her for quite some time" Tharien simply stared, unsure what to make of the small childlike being, his magic swirling around him as he tried to get a good feel on the newcomer, what it was, and what it could do. For once he'd leave the talking up to his companions. |

"Well we were on our way to liberate Majharn when we noticed the forest's magic gone awry." Walking up to the Wilden Aerenids held a hand horizontally at the boy's height then compared it to himself kneeling down to get a better look at it. Of course it was a potentially dangerous being who seemed to be able to command the forest which gave the paladin some ideas. As he knelt he stared into the eyes of the other sitting in the grass looking first to Tharien then to Ea. "It's not hostile and that much is obvious... so what are you? some kind of Wrathwood spirit?" |

Tharien was now staring intently at the childlike being, unable to believe what he was reading from the blue skinned creature. It was...intense to say the least, nothing he had ever come across had been like this, and nothing he had ever read about came close to describing what his magic was telling him. "That's no mere spirit...I...I can't explain it, there are no words..." the wizard fell silent, still shocked at what he had detected. "We do not know what this 'Wrathwood' is. We are the forest now that our Father is gone. What are you? We have seen your kind before but you do not spread the rot of the last one" the yet unnamed being said in an even tone, before turning to face Ea "And we have never seen your kind, though you share some similarity with our creatures" he gestured to his head where her horns would be, not meaning to be offensive but lacking any form of social graces or tact. |

Aerendis looked at the wizard a little bit perturbed by his words considering Tharien was a wizard of all things and the last time he'd been so humbled was in the presence of Corellon. It was a good thing that Rillas appeared to be on their side. His naivety had started to shine through giving the impression that he was young and probably lived in the forest for the duration of his short existence. "Wrathwood is the name of this forest uh... I'm an Eladrin and we don't generally spread rot." He wasn't exactly sure what to make of Rillas' statement about the forest especially since it sounded he was saying he was the forest which might have not been that much of a stretch. Next he commented on Ea's horns comparing them to creatures apparently. "I'm a Tiefling though I am unsure as to which creatures you refer." |

"Eladrin" the small being repeated, testing out the new word for a moment, "well, the one in there spreads rot through our body, it is an unnatural creature that should not be here" he finished, pointing at the tower so that there was no mistake of what he meant, before turning to Ea to respond to her comment. "We do not know what they are called in your tongue, but you are not exactly one of them. They are hairier, and have cloven feet" he blinked innocently, "they are more fragrant too. We like them, they respect our balance" he gestured with his hand and the twin domes of thorny vines disappeared into the ground, allowing the bodies of the abominations to hit the now green ground. The plants that had bloomed shifted around, somehow dragging the corpses of the abominations away. They would be removed from the forest so that they could not taint it further. While the small creature was distracted by the removal of the abominations, Tharien moved up towards his companions, whispering so as not to be heard, "I don't know what he is, but the sensation...its almost like what I felt when meeting Corellon, only weaker...and, purer somehow. I don't know what that means though" "Will you be proceeding with us into the stone tree?" the forest guardian asked loudly after a moment, his strange eyes locked on the tower of stone. |

The Tiefling tilted her head and folded her arms as she listened to the young Wilden speak describing things that looked similar to demons. It wasn't any doubt that the creatures he spoke of were natural after all they did live in Wrathwood. Ea was amused by the new arrival watching his body language and listening to the things he had to say though her ears perked as Tharien whispered. "You've met Corellon?" Her words were accusation mixed with disbelief at the subject that had now stolen her attention from Rillas but her companions had no good reason to lie anyways. "Well I suppose I made a good decision in following you two. Now as for our little friend here I must inquire as to your moniker, we need something to call you by little boy." Of course after all was said and done the group headed for the tower, it's front door opened easily without resistance to reveal a staircase defying the height of the building. The first room passed the stairs was lit by an unknown source seemingly empty except for the arrow traps Rillas would notice. |

Tharien looked sideways at Ea, realising they hadn't mentioned that to her before, "Yes, it was somewhat of a shock I can assure you" he said quietly, as Aerendis seemed content to remain silent, "but know isn't really the time for this is it" he walked behind the small forest creature as it led them into the the tower, halting suddenly as the childlike entity held out an arm to stop the three of them from going any further in. "You should not move hastily, there are not-stone tipped branches aimed towards this door, and we would prefer not to get skewered by them" Rillas said in a very calm voice, as if he were simply talking about the possibility of rain. He didn't even respond to Ea's question, completely unaware of the need for a name, or that he was being asked for one. He just was, there was as much point asking a tree what it could be called. "Not-stone?" Tharien asked curiously, unsure of what the being meant. "We saw you carrying sticks of it in your hands before, and that one has bark made of it" the Wilden said, pointing at Aerendis as he spoke, the armour of the paladin glinting in the dull light. "You mean metal...so there are arrows....a trap" Tharien looked around, trying to see anything that would give the trap away. It couldn't have been archers, or they would have fired already. |

When the creature gestured towards the paladin he started looking around himself even checking under his boots for the source of what Rillas was talking about. Apparently he had come into the possession of some bark or similar object called notstone. "I don't know what kind of metal a notstone is but I don't have any on me." Instead of listening to their new friend Ea stepped forward somewhat familiar with the design of such things. After all she had traveled with a less than admirable person, the arrows were pointed at them which to her pretty much pointed out what it was right away. "They aren't motion sensing because they are pointing at us which means they react by trigger. Now the most common and successful way for that trigger to act would be a trip mechanism either via the floor panels or a wire." Warily she brought herself eye level to the ground seeking out abnormalities or even a tiny glint to prove her right though the floor was rather uneven a few feet in front of herself as if a section of it had been depressed more than once on occasion. |
