Tharien seemed to shrink into himself in the face of Aerendis' anger, "There are artifacts in the armoury to powerful or dangerous to be wielded by us, and she doesn't want us even trying to touch them...you have to remember, we're in the house of a Noble, Mother has some very powerful things..." he hurried off, the look on his face so completely abnormal compared to his usually strong and confidant expression. After talking to his caretaker and asking her to pack their things and get Divayth ready for travel, Tharien returned, "Come, lets go to the armoury, we shall depart tomorrow" he said quietly, his head down as he opened the doors and walked out. They would be escorted by guards as Tharien walked confidently through the dark and labyrinthine corridors of his mother's home, until they came to a large onyx door, carved with a myriad of images surrounding the image of the Raven Queen. The small wizard held out a carved bone before the door, and it slid open, revealing the mass of artifacts belonging to Lahallia of Shadowfell. Weapons, armour, jewellery, all neatly organised, stored and labelled. Tharien knew he needed less than the other two because he already had some of his old stuff, but there were things here he wanted to look for. Gesturing at the others to help themselves, he wandered through the shelves. There was no need to tell them what not to touch, Lahallia had those sorts of things behind magical barriers, they would not be able to get within a foot of anything they were not meant to touch. |

Of course he ignored Ea and listened quietly to Tharien's words waiting until he opened the door. Finally being able to step out he became a lot less tense silently wondering how Tharien knew where he was going. When they arrived at their destination it was another set of extravagant doors opening into what was indeed an 'armory'. Forgetting himself and his situation for the moment he left his hammer by the door picking up all sorts of weapons that he could. A few of them he couldn't discern the effects of until he picked up a rather large scabbard nearly as tall as he was. Removing the blade he found it heavy though perfectly balanced so as it could be used in two different styles. Holding the blade straight up he ran his finger along the mune only to have it suddenly burst into flames to which he let out a yelp and fell over backwards knocking over a suit of Mithral with shield. Ea's eyes danced between all the items in the room muttering to herself. It was like some great storage room from which to make a profit though she knew she was there to get equipped. After Aerendis fell over she made sure he was ok before picking up a piece of the plate looking at it intensely. "The armor goes from 300 to 550 gold... with this shield it's value becomes nothing less than 2200. That sword you picked up is easily worth another 1000 gold." Wasn't long before her use as a merchant started to come through even if she was pricing things as more of a hobbyist than a dealer. Of course she went off to pick out the things that she wanted exactly instead of hoping for a good effect. "Are we on a budget Tharien?" Edited by Koori, Jun 29 2010, 06:23 AM.

"Not really no" Tharien said absently from one of the racks, not visible to the other two as he looked for specific items he knew to be here, "Mother said she considered it an investment in keeping me alive" There was a little sound of triumph from the small wizard as he finally spotted where the staves were kept, and he walked over to them to inspect the prospective implements. His hand trailed over them each in turn as he contemplated, some he lingered over, others he flinched away from, until his hand finally rested on one in particular. It was a light coloured wood, like driftwood, with burnt lines forming a tribal pattern along its length. The top curved like a cresting wave around a black pearl set into it, a dark metal buttcap enhancing its overall appearance. All in all it was a magnificent piece of work and Tharien felt his magic sing when he touched it. "Well, I'm done" he said quietly as he walked back towards the two, the new staff clicking against the stone floor. |

The paladin suited himself up while Ea gathered her share of gear walking back with a few things in a pile on a folded robe, a new bow around her arm and a large black club with a beautiful sheen resting on her shoulder. Aerendis was unsure of what to do with his old things merely replacing what he had taken with them. Now he looked a little less like a generic crusader and more like the graceful warrior of Corellon he was. As he walked his boots made a satisfying thunk on the ground his sword and shield fitting perfectly across his back. No doubt the magic armor was much different from his old mundane plate, standing next to Tharien he got a smile from Ea who regarded his form. "I will get changed in my room." She stated waiting for Tharien to lead the way back. |

Tharien walked out of the armoury, seemingly a different person now that he had a staff in hand. The armoury doors would slam shut behind them as they left, the magicks built into them rectivating now that the 'key' was no longer in use. The wizard would lead the way to their rooms easily, disappearing into his own room once they reached their destination so that he could gather his own supplies before they took off. By the doorway of the hall their possesions had been packed into backpacks by Tharien's old nanny, the servant having gathered all their things while they were gone. Tharien would come out of his room with Divayth on his hip, the Eladrin child dressed in tasteful but simple clothing, a small stuffed toy in his hands. Tharien wore a dark blue robe sleeveless overrobe with golden stitchin on the chest that almost seemed to be an abstract representation of the muscles of the torso. Two red gems winked from the torso of the robe, one at the center of the collar bone, the other beneath his pectorals. The overrobe was split ito three sectionsfrom the waist down, revealing the dark material of the underrobe. Stiffened cloth Pauldrons were sewn into the shoulders, giving the wizard a more impressive appearance. The black underrobe was loose from the waist down, but nearly skintight above the waist. The sleeves ended at a point over the back of his hand and tied off around his middle finger, metal bracers covering much of his forearm. The whole outfit was finished off with a blue and gold girdle, from which hung his elegant longsword and dagger, as well as the pouches he usually bore. His circlet was set into his hair once more, the hair tied back into its usual ponytail with the phoenix feathers tucked into it, the feathers from his old staff now gracing the new one, they had been all he had been able to retrieve from his original staff. "Well, lets go" the newly attired wizard said happily, his old attitude coming back now that he was faced with his freedom. Taking a small device from one of his pouches he spoke the activation phrase, and with a burst of energy a portal would open back to the fey. Picking up his backpack he waited for his companions to step through. |

"How strapping." Ea said as she stepped out of her own room garbed in a robe similar to her old one except with flame patterns licking the edges of her sleeves and gown. The spectacles were tucked away inside of her vest and the club held against her back by a diagonal white sash. Aerendis fiddled with his own armor never asking what was special about it just knowing that it came from Lahalia's basement or wherever they were. "I wasn't aware you owned phoenix feathers Tharien... where did you see a phoenix?" The paladin had his own phoenix feathers tucked away inside the pouch with Corellon's star deeming them something beautiful which meant they could exist along the star. After gathering their bags they stepped through the portal which definitely lead to a portion of the Fey though it seemed off. Stepping out from it the three wouldn't appear to be anywhere familiar though Aerendis spotted the village in the distance existing on the coast of the Mystra Ocean. "That's Highvale, we're a little ways off from Aerenal." The Tiefling said looking behind her to note that Wrathwood extended all around this settlement causing her to bite her lip knowing exactly how the forest worked. |

"Got attacked by one out of the blue...the feathers are quite pretty aren't they?" he asked as he touched a hand to one, feeling the remnants of power within the warm feathers. That said, he stepped through the portal after the other two, the magical doorway closing behind him. Looking around the area they ended up in, Tharien couldn't help but wander towards the sea in the distance, almost in a trance. Divayth just clutched at his "papa's" robes as the wizard made his way onto the sand and towards the salt water, inhaling deeply of a familiar scent that he had never smelt before in his life. Without a word the small eladrin stood in the water of the mystra ocean, the edges of his robes trailing in the water as he stared out at the vast expanse before him. He clung to Divayth firmly as if the child was a lifeline. She had to have done this on purpose, sending him here, either to strengthen him or break him further... He shuddered softly as he gazed unseeingly out across the purple water |

Of course the two followed the wizard slightly worried at the look he had on his face as he went into trance walking towards Highvale past it's lodgings and to the white sand beach standing at the edge of the water. Aerendis stood near Tharien contemplating whether to touch him or not but the view was certainly breath taking with the Fey sun dazzling across the purple expanse. Ea sat on the beach with eyes shut humming to herself quietly while the paladin worried himself over his wizard never quite having seen him so enthralled with something. "Worry not warrior of the Fey that ocean will never harm our kind nor those we hold kindred." It was a strained voice from an older Eladrin man in thick flowing navy blue robes leaning on a cane. His sky blue orbs also watched the sea as the breeze swept over his slicked back silver hair. At this Aerendis knelt to touch the water with his hand which seemed to flow up his arm with a caress as the tide came in, of course he lost his footing from such a feeling finding himself in a pile of sand. Boisterously Ea laughed finding amusement in all of his childish antics. |

With barely a thought Tharien stepped out onto the water, his magic making it as solid as rock beneath his feet. Striding out into the surf the wizard stared out with a deep, heretofore unknown, longing. Wriggling his fingers, the water shot up around him in little tentacles, spinning around his body in intricate patterns, some tendrils floating up to tickle Divayth, enticing the child to play with them, which he did happily. Aside from this, there was no signs that the teenage wizard was paying attention to anything outside of his mind, so enthralled was he with the aspect of his blood that he had never experienced. He had been immersed in his mother's domain most of his life, but this was his first contact with the realm of his father and it was having a massive impact on him. |

It was a thrilling sight that much was certain and Aerendis merely sat watching Tharien play with Divayth in the water, to the left of him was a partly submerged cove which the ocean brushed against. From in it emerged a Pearl Sea Horse with a few other normal Sea Horses following it they were gentle and warily approached the wizard. Of course the pearl one was the prettiest and most majestic literally being made of pearl for the most part. "Your friend there must be something pretty special because those creatures are incredibly shy." The raspy strained voice commented he himself enjoying the spectacle. For just a moment all things seemed right in the world as if no evil could exist. |

Tharien noticed the approaching Hippocampi and knelt down on the water, making a bowl like depression in the ocean so he could be eye level with the magnificent creatures. Divayth extended one small hand out to touch the pearl Hippocampus, the sea creature recoiling back before pressing against the young eladrin's warm palm. Tharien soon followed the example of his young charge, running a hand along the pearl animal's face. After a few minutes he bowed to the creatures before raising the depression up, the surface evening out beneath his feet as he walked back to the shore, a slight smile on his face after the meeting with the hippocampi. "I apologise...that was my first time seeing the ocean, despite my connection to it" he said bashfully, looking down at Divayth who was happily waving at the Hippocampi. |

"You're connected to the ocean?" The paladin asked as he pushed himself up off the beach along with Ea who's eyes regarded the hippocampi as they returned to their partially submerged cove. Sighing she leaned against the rock face next to her counting something abstractly on her fingers. As she did this the man who stood above them leaped off the cliff floating gently to the sand next to the three. "I've got to ask what brings you folks to these parts? surely ones dressed such as yourself did not only come to see the pearl sea horse." With his cane in hand he hobbled up the beach back on to more solid land standing with a hunch in his back. "Gotta wonder how you made it here with how frivolous Aerenal's being in their 'inspections'. I could care less about those fanatics honestly it's one thing to love Corellon and another to outright kiss his ass, pardon me. They're claiming that a criminal has escaped so now our already scarce caravans are running late... now why would an escaped criminal take a caravan through Aerenal to get to here? Bah!." Clearly the man was long winded talking about whatever happened to be on his mind at the moment. |

"I could have sworn I told you...my father is Apeiron Tidestalker, a noble of the Ocean, I only ever saw him once, when I was quite young" Tharien said quietly as he toyed with Divayth's hair, the child leaning into the affectionate touch. "We came from somewhere else" the wizard remarked absently at the old man's comment, "and Corellon didn't seem to care about any criminal last I saw. Anyway, we're...you know, I don't know what we're doing" he paused to think about it, coming up with a blank he turned to his companions "He just said keep doing what we're doing, didn't he Aerendis? Guess that means we're wanderers" Hugging Divayth close he looked at the old man, trying to decide how trustworthy he was, his normally dark green eyes a blue-sea green from his contact with the ocean, though they were darkening again as time passed. |

"Wanderers eh? well all are welcome to Highvale, say did you hear about what happened to Majharn? a whole parade of Eladrin settled here the other day from Aerenal. One of them told me they got fed up with the place after their heroes were arrested. Suppose those are the criminals they warned us about... makes no sense to me unless now days it's a crime to support your brethren. I tell you they've got funky water in that Aerenal place." The paladin could only blink unsure of what to say in response but it seemed those people had chosen not to condemn themselves to a place like Aerenal. Come to think of it he hadn't seen any other elves of Highvale yet. Though Tharien had a bout of tunnel vision and there wasn't exactly time to look around. "Now Corellon he's a funny sort of god I once spoke to him myself though if what you're doin is right then keep on doin it I guess. Suppose he's the sort of tactical type who has planned far ahead. I can say for certain he knows a lot of things that we don't but anyhow you're right about that whole criminal thing being ridiculous. But those people from Aerenal claim Corellon lives on their mountain and rains those stars down everywhere. Now that's just damned crazy because I know where the gods live and he has a forbidden city but the thing is..." By now Aerendis was rubbing his temples while trying as respectfully as possible to follow what the person was saying. Eventually his rubbing of the temples turned into flat out covering his ears. |

"Ah, sir..." Tharien started, only to have the man continue talking over him, "sir? EXCUSE ME" he finally interrupted, trying to end the monologue that was starting to drive him crazy, "I'm sorry, but is there a point to that story? We only just got here and I don't think we're quite ready to sit down and listen attentively" internally he wondered where the politeness had come from, when all he really wanted to say was 'shut up!'. It was probably because the eladrin was old, and he knew better than to annoy an elderly person. He adjusted Divayth on his hip, the child squirming slightly in impatience and from feeling the agitation of his guardians, it was apparent that the boy would become upset if this continued, he had even dropped his stuffed toy as he wriggled around. |

"Oh I just get excited sometimes... new faces and what not." Leaning on his cane his attention was brought to the child that Tharien carried and he gestured a rather shaky hand at it turning his bright eyes to it's guardian. "It's been so long since I've seen an Elven babe and I have to wonder how exactly you made it here. Starngatha did something to Wrathwood the other day... a power hungry woman we're forced to deal with. You know she has tried more than once to extort things from me but before I go off in a tangent again I'll stop myself here." So much curiosity and yearning for youth could be sensed from the man as he spoke. Aerendis shifted at the name Starngatha even if he didn't know it anyone called that would probably be unpleasant. |

"We came here through...unusual methods, and that's all we can really say about that. I'd be interested to hear your story a little later sir, but for now we need to find a place to stay, as you can see Divayth is getting a bit grumpy" the wizard gestured at the boy's stuffed toy and it shot into his hand, and it was handed to the child just as quickly. "Do you know any place that we can stay?" he clasped his ward closer to his chest to ensure the boy didn't dislodge himself as the dark haired elf child squirmed in his grasp. |

"Oh we don't get many visitors like I've said so I can let you stay at my place if you wish. Not enough passersby to warrant erecting an inn in this small vale." Walking along the dirt path they passed many houses and would see some of the Majharn refugees if they decided to look. Just past the houses stood a large tree with beautiful shimmering red leaves and a staircase at it's side. It looked like a normal house sized tree, least as normal as that could be. "Marty we've got visitors!" The elder would call out then the tree's bark eyelids opened as did his mouth instantly giving it a humanoid complexion, it's arms unfolded from it's crown softly stroking it's moss beard while it looked at the three. "Oh boy it's been a long time since we had visitors! I'd shake your hand but well... my hand is bigger than you." It's deep rumbling but gentle voice echoed through the vale. It's arms retreated upward to become part of it's crown of leaves again. The old Eladrin ascended the staircase into his abode expecting the other to follow. "I don't believe I've properly introduced myself! but you can call me Jamorin, full name: Jamorin Wolfsbane." Instead of following the others inside Ea would choose to sit on the path in front of the large tree creature which she was sure could kill her at any moment if it wanted to. |

Tharien noticed the refugees, and nodded slightly to them as he walked by, he grinned at the sight of his Wall Runners still being put to use by the guards, in fact, if he was right, it seems they managed to breed some...he certainly hadn't expected that. The old man led them to a large tree, which he talked to. If it hadn't talked back the wizard would have just chalked it up to senility, an ent...it was a bit surprising to see first hand. He had heard of such things, but it hadn't really prepared him for seeing it face to face. Bowing to the ent respectfully, Tharien followed the old man into his 'house'. "I'm Tharien, and this is Divayth" he said in response to the old man's introduction, looking around the house in curiousity. |

The first room they stepped into was the living room with it's simple design in soft armchairs around a table. There was a rack on the far wall with all sorts of scrolls and book in it's alcoves, the only exit from this room led to a staircase branching off into two other rooms just before it. "Your beds are down the stairs next to my study." Aerendis was wary about going inside the ent but then got curious after he went in there poking his head in all the rooms. The study was a mess of books, alchemy and magical devices though he knew enough not to go in there. "It's not much but it's a home... least I've got Marty to talk to!" With a chuckle he sat himself in one of the chairs around the table sighing as he did so. "So Tharien the mysterious wanderer who hesitates to yield the method of travel he used to arrive here and his companion who's name I've yet to know." "Aerendis." "Ah so both heroes have arrived and the Tiefling Ea. How rude of me to speak a name before learning of it, excuse me. Anyways! these refugees have of course told me all about you as they arrived. I am the protector of Highvale so of course they told me but I've got to ask a few things..." Clasping his hands together the older Eladrin was thinking carefully about his next set of words. "Tell me do you hate the humans for their acts of violence against our people? and do you seek revenge?" |

Tharien looked around curiously, having never been inside an Ent house before, but turned his attention back to the elderly eladrin as his question was voiced. He contemplated his answer for a few moments, aware that his answer would have great weight. "Is hatred a festering rage which churns within the breast? Is hatred the instinct to harm an individual on sight? Is the loathing I feel every time I am reminded of Majharn hatred? If so, then yes, I hate them, I hate them as much as the foul magicked necromancers, mayhap more. Oh its irrational I know, the children, the innocents, they had nothing to do with it, but hatred is irrational. Do I seek revenge? No, I merely loathe their entire filthy race, I have more important things to do than to hunt them down. Does that mean I'll show mercy? Again, no, I simply do not intend to seek revenge, that does not mean I will not take it should the opportunity arise. If my answer in any way changes your decision to allow me here, say so and I will take my leave" his speech was rather passionate, and held in the common tongue to prevent Divayth from understanding and being tainted by his guardians vitriol. Tharien may hate the humans, but he would allow his charge the chance to make his own decisions. Green eyes stared at Jamorin, waiting for his response, expecting irritation, maybe anger, but he was calm, sure of his own convictions. |

"You don't have enough hatred to detest an entire race of people in you Tharien nor will you in all your living years. It is Jolindur you must turn your rage unto and only them." Jamorin's own sky blue eyes met with Tharien's while he gestured for a scroll on the far rack reading rather half hearted. "Hatred is a fickle subject, some may say the right thing to do would be to leave it as is. The people of Jolindur live for war though and they've set their eyes on the Fey, I say again you can't hate those of Faerun for what those of Jolindur have done. They're not going to stop until they either get what they want or are defeated and personally I made it a point to scry them tonight based on what the refugees have told me." Aerendis couldn't think of anything to say to either of them deciding to speak softly to Divayth in Elven perhaps easing him of any anxieties he might be having over the adults and their serious tone. |

"Maybe not here" Tharien said, pointing to his head as he handed Divayth to Aerendis, his agitation affecting the young eladrin in turn, "but the mind cannot always override the heart, you say I cannot hate an entire race, they can certainly slaughter one. Jolindur, Faerun, what difference does it make, they're still human, just like we're nothing but elves to them. Intellectually I can tell the difference, but every time I look at that child, every time I picture a human face, I remember the devestation, the destruction, the pain and suffering..." He paused, taking a deep breath "This discussion is pointless, I apologise for my lack of self-control, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and compose myself." and with that the wizard stalked out of the house, a grave expression on his face as his robes billowed around him, his staff left leaning against the wall. He stormed past Ea, bowing slightly in respect to 'marty' as he made his way to the beach, his feet barely kissing the sand as he travelled over it and onto the surface of the ocean, travelling a fair distance out onto the liquid before he fell to his knees, slumping over and staring at his own reflection in the purple water, the bold scar on his cheek a testament and reminder of that day, and his own foolishness... He took deep breaths of the salty air, trying to calm himself, his static expression hiding the turmoil of his thoughts. |

After being handed the child he sat down with him the armored male not exactly knowing what to do with Divayth as usual. So he just did his best to watch the child wondering if Tharien would be ok, he didn't think his presence would help matters any. Jamorin began to speak again talking to nobody in particular. "If you fight back at them with feelings of hatred every time they see an elf they will remember destruction, pain and suffering. War doesn't make sense and it isn't pretty but compromises always have to be made." Ea and the Ent were having a rather mundane conversation after getting her fascination out of the way when Tharien stormed passed them quite obviously upset. She rose to her feet and curtsied to Marty before taking off after the wizard. Of course once he got to the water she could follow him no further choosing instead to remain on the beach. |

Tharien made a harsh and obvious gesture with his right hand, water enfolding itself around him like a cacoon, yet allowing him to breathe easily. Another gesture pulled the cacoon under the surface of the ocean, until he knelt in a pocket of air on the sand beneath the waves, the movement of the water around him a soothing sound, and the distortion of the sky as he looked up quite beautiful. The small wizard took deep breaths, sinking into a meditative state as he tried to purge the emotions that he had so strongly surpressed. oOo Divayth fiddled around with Aerendis' armour, obviously still agitated at the previous events. "Papa is sad" he said finally in a small voice, having been nearly mute since they had found him in Majharn, his voice was a little rough from lack of use, "Why is sad? He crying, but not can see" his little face screwed up at that, a child trying to understand a complex emotion he couldn't understand |

"It would be good of us to go to him and more importantly good of you Aerendis." The old wizard said with a look of seriousness on his face after Divayth spoke though his words were odd his meaning was clear however it was not his place to speak to the child. It was up to Aerendis to try and answer the boy's questions. Adjusting the small Eladrin as he stood up the paladin began to speak followed by Jamorin as they headed for the beach where Ea stood. "Well sometimes when you're very sad you can't cry. It's a bitter feeling inside of you that wont come out without help, sometimes it causes people to do bad things that they don't really mean to do. He's hurt but you can't see his wound." When they arrived the group merely stood on the beach waiting after Ea told them where Tharien had gone. "I understand that he hates humans... yet I hope he is wise enough to realize not all are to blame. Personally I'd like to slaughter a fair few of the bastards myself but I'm just an old man and as I said you cannot hate an entire race." |

"Can't you kiss it better?" the child asked innocently from his place on Aerendis' hip, settling down as they approached Tharien's current location. When they got there he squirmed to be let down, and when he was freed he ran over to the water's edge and sat there, his knees against his chest and a small finger trailing in the water as he waited for his 'papa' to reappear. Beneath the surface, Tharien knelt, his body motionless but for the rise and fall of his chest, his mind focused solely on the sea, the rhythm of its movements 'speaking' to him in a way that helped calm his aching heart. He still wasn't quite ready to surface yet, but the purging of his festering wound continued on, and when he left this self imposed meditation, he'd feel a whole lot better. |

"I think you could but it'd take a lot of love too." They stood nearby watching the Eladrin boy as he waited for his 'father' to come back to him and the rest of the group. There was no choice but to wait on the beach seeing as Tharien had effectively secluded himself from everyone else. "So is Tharien really the father of the young one?" At this question Aerendis scratched his head for a moment before replying "Yes for all intents and purposes he is our son." Jamorin nodded slowly as if trying to process a difficult thought before letting a short "Ah." escape his lips. |

With a sigh Tharien's eyes opened, he knew it was time to surface and face the music. Standing up he willed the water to push him up, the surface of the ocean opening up as the bubble he had been sitting in surfaced. He looked sheepishly to the shore where it seemed everyone was waiting for him, his now sea green eyes looking down at the water beneath his feet in embarassment. "Papa!" Divayth called out, racing towards Tharien, which forced the wizard to solidify the water beneath his charge's feet before scooping up the young child. "You stop crying now papa" he said as he pressed a kiss against Tharien's scarred cheek, which prompted a small smile from the small wizard. He made his way back to the shore and stopped in front of his companions "Uh..." he started, unsure what to say in the face of his breakdown |

Jamorin beckoned the others to follow him home with something of urgency on his mind. He was going to wait until later but something urged him to gather the supplies for it now. It wasn't needed for Tharien to say anything now that he was fine. "I was planning on waiting until the night to do this but... they're humans and I'm cocky." When the arrived in his home he dove into the study returning with a simple crystal orb and a tome. Sitting in one of the chairs he brought the orb to his forehead reading something from the tome and voila an image of Majharn appeared. "See I didn't want to be counter scryed but they'd have found us already if they were capable of doing so." The image on the orb was of humans and their camp which they set up in Majharn's ruins making the island their home and military base apparently. Soldiers of all kinds wandered around with shoddy tents put up and wooden structures. At the site of the portal they were apparently rebuilding it or attempting to. |
