It was a cool day, white clouds hung lazily in the sky as a soft breeze blew through the tall green trees of the forest, making the leaves rustle softly. In the depths of the forest the sound of running water could be heard, crystal clear water bubbling over smooth stones as it rushed through the river bed.

Further on, the river dropped away, the water spilling over the edge tumultuously, loudly, crashing downwards with force. It wasn't large, perhaps ten men across, but it was still impressive. The water pooled around the base, larger rocks framing it, before the river carried on.

On this day there was something somewhat out of place. A pile of cloth and leather rested on one of the large rocks, shaped perfectly for sitting on. Against the rock leaned a long staff, and a book sat beside it. But these things were not what would catch the eye of anyone who came into the waterfall clearing. What was immediately attention grabbing was the slender figure standing in the centre of the pool, the water coming up to his navel. Long blue-black hair caressed his back, clinging to the wet, pale skin, droplets of water slid down soft planes of flesh as slender limbs brought water up over his yead, washing himself in the serenity that the waterfall provided.

Today he had a lot on his mind most of which was trivial religious banter so he needed a spot to focus and sort it all out, such a spot he knew of frequenting it often. However today that spot would contain something else something quite appealing beyond the splendor and general beauty which was found all around the forever sunlit Sol nation. Approaching the grove from a beaten path he emerged from the brush first spotting the inventory of someone quite obviously arcane then seeing it's owner who was a very naked elf.

Furrowing his brow he took the book sitting with his back up against the rock reading into the writings. A wizard's spell book was a powerful and personal thing so much so that most tomes were trapped or cursed but the devotee of Corellon sensed nothing from the literature. It had many empty pages but all of what was written down detailed quite some powerful spells. Deciding he should capture the bather's attention he plucked a rock from the ground casting it so that it would skip along the water's surface. Afterward he set the book upon the pile of clothes staring rather intensely at it's owner.

Tharien whirled around at the sound of a rock breaking the serenity of the glade. Arcane energy danced around his fingers as he prepared a spell to punish the interloper who dared intrude on his privacy. The spell was almost released before he noticed the figure who sat casually next to his stuff, reading his Spellbook.

"Who the hell are you and what gives you the right to go through someone else's property?" he demanded, striding towards the daring paladin, unnoticing of the fact the he was no longer covered by water.

His long hair clung to his wet skin, droplets of water sparkling in the light, but his fury made him look like nothing less than a soggy cat, more cute than truly intimidating.

A genuine wielder of the arts is the only thought process Aerendis had as he witnessed the dancing arcane energies indeed his meditation spot was occupied by the most cherished creature of Corellon, a spell wielding elf. Perhaps divine inspiration or perhaps not it didn't matter but what did matter is why? worshiping a neutral deity is never an easy thing to do especially one so wise as the patron of arcane energy.

"Free will gives me the right fey child."

His eyes danced on the seemingly callous wizard's naked wet body which admittedly was much more beautiful when not riddled with self conscious anger. Aerendis sat staring at the other trying to figure out the tattoos on his body. It made him happy to meet someone who seemed to take great pride and care in the use of magic.

"I approve of your scriptures and your exposure."

Tharien was about to open his mouth in anger when the intruder's words sunk in. Looking down he remembered his own lack of clothing, and realised that the water no longer hid his most private parts from view, allowing the other male to peruse his form in much the same way he had looked at his spell book.

His face turned scarlet as he dropped downwards, covering his body up to his chin. Red with embarassment he glared furiously at the paladin.

"How dare you, pervert!" he yelled, turning the feelings into anger, his green eyes flaring, tough of course, its very hard to be taken seriously when you are naked, embarassed, and soaking wet.

"That's something I wont deny~"

He said cheekily wondering if he should or shouldn't toss the wizard his clothing but in the back of his mind Corellon's teachings would tell him to give the utmost respect to the caster. It wasn't as if he wouldn't just that he played with the idea of prolonging his exposure, gingerly he tossed the clothing to the other busying his eyes with the spell book again. Though he had already leafed through it he needed something to occupy his vision other than naked elves.

"Can't say I quite understand what you're angry about."

A slender arm shot out of the water to catch his clothing before it could hit the pool and become as wet as the Eladrin who owned it. He stood up, red faced, holding the robe in front of him carefully to hide his body from the stranger.

The paladin would be able to hear the sound of him wading out of the pool, the slender wizard quickly ducking behind a tree to throw the robe over his wet body. It wasn't ideal, but it covered him, which was what was important right now.

"I'm angry because you come in here, go through my stuff, and then ogle me like I was a piece of meat for your viewing pleasure" he stated, eyes narrowed and a finger pointing accusingly at the larger male. He still looked like a soggy cat, that is too say, vicious, but altogether unimpressive.

"Would you like me to make up for it?"

Closing the book with a snap he placed it back on the rock watching the wet one fume while his clothes stuck to him. Most fledglings would revere the arcane but Aerendis did not fear it for he'd been raised in it training in order to protect high magi.

"I've no qualms about shedding my clothes for you if it would make things even. You could also ask something personal of me."

Of course a paladin of any nature wouldn't be one to go back on his word so he was speaking truths rather than trying to jaunt at the wizard before him.

Tharien's mouth worked silently for a moment, before his lower jaw closed shut with a click. "You really are a pervert". With that he whirled around, gathering up his stuff and throwing on whatever he could easily, the spell book slung across his shoulder by the chains meant for that soul purpose.

Taking up his staff he shot the other Eladrin one last glare, intent on leaving the clearing. The nerve of some people, he could barely contain his irritation.

Springing to his feet he followed behind the wizard rather casually, curious about the elf with questions brewing on the edge of his mind.

"That clearing isn't very well known. I wonder how you knew about it? oh and I didn't catch your name either."

Inadvertently the wizard had gained himself a companion, a paladin of the arcane who chose this particular elf as his journey urged on only by divine guidance. Honestly he wanted to get away from the churches as well since they hadn't much to offer him anymore. Whether the wizard wanted it or not he'd been marked by an arcane knight now.

He ignored the questions as he navigated the tall trees of the forest, the rushing sound of the waterfall getting fainter as he got further away from the idyllic clearing. His pink mouth was drawn thin as he heard the paladin walking behind him, asking impertinent questions and being generally annoying.

"Why are you following me?" he exclaimed, exasperated at last at the other Eladrin, spinning around with a twirl of his robes to face his 'stalker' "Have I not made my distaste for your presence clear enough, or are you just too arrogant to believe that anyone could possibly not want you around?" his green eyes were practically spitting fire at Aerendis, his words rather harsh, but he wasn't in a good mood, so he wasn't restraining himself.

He would probably regret it later, assuming the Paladin remained around

"Going on a limb here guessing that you aren't playing dress up with that staff you're a wizard."

With that statement in the air he jerked a thumb towards his forehead bringing attention to the star of Corellon which was branded and tattooed there. Not quite sure it would change anything or that it would excuse his actions but he could at least explain his pseudo stalker attitude.

"I didn't mean to disrespect you I was just curious. Just so happens I recently graduated and now I'm recognized as an arcane knight but in order to become enlightened I have to follow a practitioner. My actions previously were due to excitement as you're the first I've seen outside of the temple and you were in my special spot too."

In that statement he'd confirmed that he was indeed young as age was never something easy to tell between each of the Eladrin folk. Just a naive callous arcane knight who probably didn't know how to carry himself well in society.

Tharien seemed to visibly deflate, his stomach gurgling with shame at his actions, like the wind disappearing out of a sail he became far less 'puffed up' so to speak, righteous fury leaving him in the face of the taller Eladrin's explanation.

"I apologise for my harsh words" he murmured, looking away in shame, "You startled me, as you said, not many know of the pool, I have been going there since I was a small child and no one has ever been there, I overreacted"

He shifted slightly, acutely aware of how immature he had acted in the face of the other's intrusion into what had been for him a very private and special spot. Odd that the two had never come in contact with eachother before this really if he thought about it.

"Perfectly understandable and you needn't apologize as I might have reacted the same way if someone got a full on of my dick."

Wearing a cheeky smile for a few moments the elf soon placed his hands onto the back of his head loosening up in the wizard's presence. His stride became a lot more casual as it seemed he was getting somewhere with the other. Of course there was a much deeper meaning in the paladin's words as he wondered if the wizard would understand his next plight.

"In Corellon's eyes I am nothing seeing as I can't use magic yet I still swore my oath to fight for him. However to better serve my deity I must devote myself to the protection of all things beautiful and arcane."

Quickening his pace he tapped the wizard on his shoulder.

"That means you, I've decided our passing was no coincidence. Especially since you are both beautiful and arcane."

Tharien blushed at the Paladin's words, not entirely sure how to respond to such remarks. He was young, even by the count of man, and a Wizard to boot, he wasn't exactly the most socially adept person in the world.

Just when he began to wish the world would simply swallow him up and be done with it, a tingling pressure drew his attention, the sensation like a wave of gravity moving out. It was powerful, he could tell that by the pressure it was exerting on his senses, well, at least more powerful than he himself was, though that wasn't saying much.

Closing his eyes he focused for a moment, trying to discern where this power was coming from. He could tell by the increase of pressure that the source of this new sensation was coming from the direction they had just come.

The clearing

"If you're gonna protect me then you should prepare yourself just in case" he murmured distractedly as he gazed back towards the waterfall clearing. Tharien began moving towards the source of the power, slowly at first, before picking up speed, running towards what his senses were telling him was going to be a very bad place soon.

"Huh?"

There was a steely taste in the air as everything seemed to slow down as the wizard murmured his warning though Aerendis quickly got over his adrenaline rush moving close to the other. With one hand he drew his large war hammer and the other bore his shield prepared for the worst. The clearing was soon in view however something was vastly different, the waterfall was split revealing a large hole behind it.

"In all my years visiting here I always figured the waterfall was a cliff not a grotto."

Of course being much better at defending himself in close combat he made sure to get ahead of the wizard approaching the cave slowly, even without being trained in arcana he could definitely feel a powerful wind coming from it.

Tharien could feel the pressure pressing down on him as he reached the clearing. The unnerving sensation coupled with his shock at the apparently new opening behind the waterfall meant that he wasn't about to say anything just yet.

A few moments paused before he visibly shook himself, straightening up and tightening his grip on his staff. "It wasn't a grotto before, that's for sure, I've been coming here as long as I can remember"

Taking a deep breath, he glanced at the larger male, "It feels...unusual in there, I don't like the idea of something corrupting this place, shall we go look?"

"It's my duty to protect you and this place."

Without fear or hesitation he stepped into the cave along with Tharien only to have a large arcane symbol light up under their feet. Unable to react they were transported to a large brightly illuminated marble hall. Extravagant pillars lined the perimeter of this new area where the pulsing energy would be it's strongest. A large wall on the other side of the room was littered with the names of gods however only Corellon's was shining.

A voice echoed.

"Would be heroes do you take my challenge? Know that you cannot perish under my tutelage."

Written on an arch above the plaque of names was a single word 'Delve'. If they agreed the two would be instantly transported to a similar marble room seemingly empty with checkerboard floor.

Tharien felt his eyebrow raise, about the only thing he could really move under the pressure that was exerting itself on his arcane being. It wasn't a physical pressure really, but it was more than he could handle and be able to move at all. He was lucky he could retain conciousness.

He was in over his head, that was for sure, nothing he had ever come across had prepared him for this situation, at least, not mentally.

"You're the servant of a god" he said to Aerendis, his voice obviously strained with effort, "what's your opinion?"

"We can trust him as his choice would be with counsel otherwise I doubt he'd address us."

All it took were those words for them to be whisked off to the checkerboard room. As soon as they had entered a large hulking juggernaut made of shadow along with a slender assassin also made of shadow appeared across the room.

Tharien looked between the two shadowy figures that he assumed were to be their enemies. Well, this was just great, fantastic even. He wasn't even sure what was happening, and here they were fighting some weird things.

"Fantastic" he said to himself, "Well, lets have some fireworks"

With a gesture, he cast scorching burst on the assassin thing, hoping to take it down in the conflagration that the spell created.

Just barely able to notice the column of flame erupting under his feet the assassin deftly leaped to the side while forming a bow shooting a shadowy arrow at Aerendis only to easily deflect off his plate armor. The juggernaut was distracted by the fire only for a moment before returning his focus to the enemy and was caught off guard by the Paladin's charge and in his attempt to knock the elf over with a blast of shadow instead blasting himself into the floor.

Taking advantage of this Aerendis whispered a divine word as he crushed the juggernaut into the floor with his shield. The word erupted a temporary translucent golden shield in front of Tharien.

"These guys aren't so tough."

Tharien's mouth twisted in displeasure as his spell was dodged, what a pain that was, stupid shadow thing and its stupidness, why didn't it just die like a good little enemy.

"Che" gathering up his power, he used fey step to appear behind the assassin, a few steps away, a magic missle firing out of his outstretched hand towards its torso in a hope to kill the accursed creature they had found themselves up against.

The assassin had a nice large hole blown through it's chest by the silvery bolt which it looked at confusedly before turning around still quite able to act. It turned it's weapon into a sword slicing at Tharien only able to graze the wizard as it stumbled off balance.

Meanwhile the juggernaut struggled to get Aerendis off but he was too strong for the shadow creature keeping it pinned. Dropping his hammer only for a moment he pointed at it point blank and uttered another divine word and in a well of searing light the creature was obliterated. Grasping at his hammer Aerendis remained knelt to the ground catching his breath while his protection over Tharien faded.

Tharien hissed as the assassin's blade skimmed his side, glaring at the shadow creature in irritation. Taking his staff in both hands he swept the lower end at the thing's legs, hoping to knock it off its feet and onto the ground. Then he would cast scorching burst once more, which might just obliterate the creature, seeing as it somehow managed to live despite the gaping hole in its chest.

"Why won't you die you feculant little shiteater?" he growled

It was an assassin though a bad one but the wizard's attempt was still easily dodged as it hopped and seeing as it was in the air for the short time it took Tharien to use burst was conflated easily. The thing ran in circles like an idiot while on fire.

Aerendis blinked a few times at hearing the wizard's words before rising to his feet and moving to strike at the rather pathetic enemy. His hammer crushed it's head with a mighty overhead swing finally ending it's life though the two wouldn't be getting much of a break.

"Bravo"

A voice echoed as a nearby section of the wall fell open to reveal another similar room which contained a small chest.

Smirking at the creature as its end was met thanks to his companion's hammer, Tharien turned as the wall fell away, revealing a chest. He blinked slightly before turning to the other Eladrin, "So...what exactly is going on here? I didn't exactly have the time to ask before, but now I can"

The chest may have gotten him curious, but he was a little more interested in what the hell had just happened, they had stepped into the newly made grotto and had ended up here, in this strange stone room, with a disembodied voice setting challenges on them. That wasn't exactly normal, even for a wizard, at least, not in his experience.

"From what I know it's called a 'delve' which is an uncommon occurrence. Apparently we can't really die in here but some people discard delve stories as dreams."

Trotting over to the small chest he leaned his hammer up against the wall before opening it. Many gold coins were inside but as he opened it two more creatures came into existence again from across the room. A red skinned goblin zombie and a green skin with a crossbow.

"And as I was about to say there's lots of fighting involved."

Raising a finger he pointed at the zombie trying the searing light attack again only to have it deftly move out of the way. Surprisingly fast for something that was undead and in the same movement it charged attempting to stab Aerendis with a scimitar only to be easily batted away by his shield. It's partner the green skin shot a bolt from the crossbow it carried at Tharien which could easily be deflected if he created a shield from his staff.

"Well that's just great, isn't it?" Tharien muttered sarcastically to himself as he prepared another spell, a glowing ball of power forming in his left hand, arcs of silver lightening shooting across its surface.

With a slight grunt of effort, he hurled the force orb at the green skinned creature, intending to rip it to shreds.

Unable to properly defend itself the crossbowman was ripped to shreds by the glass like orb though through his own fortitude was able to remain standing though a pool of his blood was quickly growing. Aerendis decided to let the two ranged attackers deal with each other as he pointed at the zombie inscribing a golden vigil on it's face with just a word ensuring through the power of the gods that it would not be allowed to attack Tharien.

Approaching it with his warhammer he brandished the weapon against it's skull staggering it though it quickly riposte with it's scimitar and due to it's shoddy swordsmanship was again shoved aside like child's play by the paladin's large shield. The bloodied goblin raised it's weapon attempting to shoot Aerendis in the head only for his bolt to narrowly miss whizzing right by his ear.
