You can buy 1 nexus at NPC for 50 hydro bars, then you remove it with nexus removal stone and you get a "free" pickpoint

Thus, anyone doing this continually has effectively no upper OA limit, and has the eventual potential to max our all attributes and take all positive PK perks (and it's not cheap; ~450-500kgc for hydro bars + ~300kgc for nexus stone (in RL$$ @ 4kgc=$1 = ~$195 per pp))

It's my opinion that people with either lots of RL$$, all day everyday for EL, or who char share (or a combination of those, as is often the case) should not be able to gain such a huge advantage over everyone else.

Don't get me wrong though, i think they should have some advantages, but there's already plenty of advantages those people can gain via the extremely expensive PK gear that exists in-game.

for my first 2 hydro nexus I've spend 13 hours at dragon spawn
so yes, they are very easy to get.

take into consideration the cost, the time and the effort to reach the level that allows you to do that TempesT ;) NOW you find it very easy, but that's not what a new char on IP thinks ;)

give me a 50 a/d char and i'll do it in 14 hours.

EDIT: you don't need stats, you need skills.

don't want to go offtopic, but you also need resources, knowleedge, etc.

skills do not come from nowhere, noone sstarting the game has such skills

in order to make such experiment fair and results valid, I would have to wipe up your brain out of all EL knowledge and put a 50 a/d char for you with empty sto on IP :-P

you cannot judge things from a perspective of a veteran player

you can use such perspective only to compare with people who play as long as you or longer

not rly, i explained it to a friend within 10 minutes, and the next day he sold 14 scales to holar... so i don't really get your point..

the only thing you need is a fine working brain and some ideas, no 3 year knowledge needed at all.

EDIT: just to clarify, the friend has ~82 a/d and 24 p/c ;)

your friend was using your knowledge and experience

anyway, as I said this is off-topic, what I wanted to say is that the nexus npc is a nicee feature and should stay in game

the risk its presence brings to the game affects maybe 0.1% of the game base - top-most-power-levelling players

I disagree with your 0.1% estimation, it affects any PK'er who's ever engaged in combat with a pp buyer.

Korrode, but who is preventing you to become one ? Why you, strategy lover, do not see pp's buying as a one available strategy ? This is somethng I'm not getting. I might be entirely wrong here, so please explain that to me ...

You take one month off from work, you buy TempesT a beer, you learn how to get 2 nexuses in 13 hours, and one month later you have at least 60 pp's to distribute ..... :p And that's only when you play 13 hours a day lol :p

Such "strategy" makes it easy to compete with those who spend RL $ for their nexuses ... :p

1) korrode knows alrdy, told him/kadlub/thundercloud, but good idea :P (korrode, lets go drink beer kk)
2) thats no strategy, if everyone starts to work only for buying PPs the game isnt fun anymore. people wanna enjoy the game and not be forced to buy pps just to keep up with RL$ people.

A fair question, i just a little while ago edited a post of mine on the main forums, hopefully this answers it:

kk sounds great, wanna run my char for 15 hours a day just making gc or give me a few thousand RL dollars?

EDIT:
ok, look, ya... a person can work hard and buy some pp's, even if just in-game hard work... it is not that i'm lazy, i was infact shown a great way to make really fast gc by a certain someone (<3), but the point is that i dont think it makes for a balanced game for pickpoints to be unlimited, even if everyone could do it much easier than it currently is.

If everyone has every attribute maxed, where's the char build strategy? where's the equipment use strategy (based on attrib build)?, where's the different semi-classes?
I'm not just looking to bitch and complain, and it's not laziness, it's that i believe the game is less strategic, less balanced and essentially less fun if there is no upper limit to pickpoints, whether it's just a few people able to buy pickpoints, or many, either way it applies.

We have an attribute hardcap. We have an a/d softcap. There needs to be a pickpoint cap (that's hit long before even getting remotely close to maxing every attribute) as well to ensure EL remains a game that rewards strategy and is fun. That's my opinion anyways.

@Tempest

ad. 1 I second that ;)

ad. 2 again, this assumes the ideal game would be if all chars were made equal.

It doesn't matter if the difference comes from RL $, from being 24/7 in game harving or training, or simply from playing years longer than others - there will be always diversity and never chances for all players will be equal in a game like EL.

Now see how similar these are:

the game isnt fun anymore. people wanna enjoy the game and not be forced to:

- buy pps just to keep up with RL$ people
- make gc's to afford to pking
- harv to replace items breaking more often
- reset attributes and skills to adjust to the new class system

the point is no one really forces you to do any of these. This is your decision always. I cannot agree that due to any of these game is not fun anymore. Maybe simply I do not play long enough ... I dunno.

1) there was no pickpoint buying before, and the difference between high lvl/low lvl didnt make such a big difference.
2) you could replace the stuff you used in Pking with monster drops or other incomes from fighting. all sources crashed by ent
3) same here, ent destroyed every single way for a fighter to make gc with his skill.
4) well, if people wanna belong to a class and have to reset, no way to avoid that :P

ok, gtg home from work, to play EL finally, so ...

1. I do not care what was before, I wasn't there, I'm looking at thigs from today's perspective

2. I see lack on consequence, on one hand all sources of income are broken, on the other hand you make 1.6 million gc's (2 nexus cost) in 13 hours ....

3. see point 2.

4. exactly, no one is forcing you to take a class, moreover due to your skills, experience and EL wealth you are priviledged and prepared to make such change less painful for you than it is for newer players. Actually by reset I was meaning adjusting attributes and nexuses via removal stones, not full reset

Anyway, peace and see you in-game ;-)

Tempest said Ent removed all sources of income from fighting, but he never said the way he made his gc was from fighting.
