That is because if I say 'This idea sucks.", meaning as it currently is then people will think I am saying it can't be any good because they always overreact. There are too many people who don't read or don't pay enough attention to the thread that won't realizing that I am saying it still has possibilities too. Selective reading is why I try to not say stuff like "This idea sucks." on the EL forum. It also makes Entropy start doing selective reading on your posts too. He might read the whole thing still but he is a lot more likely to dismiss it no matter what you are saying. He is that way because he knows about the selective reading problem too. lol You have to be at least polite on the EL forum to avoid being brushed off as a flaming idiot who doesn't stop long enough to read and think. ![]() Tirun |

sure i agree with you, you should be polite on EL forums but as you can see that doesnt help ent from not implementing it. even tho the majority doesn't like it he rather likes to listen to crying noobs ![]() EDIT: theres only 1 thing that works better than crying noobs.. crying pros. I appreciate the post. It's interesting to see that Entropy does understand the implications of people being afraid of him, yet he's still in denial that it happens. |

mmm...i like this idea much more than the previous mega mage perk... however, imo radu is not trying to add classes, but just to do with magic what he has already done with engineering (well, sort of...) and summoning, namely let people with levels be able to pk with these skills...obviously with different strategies. Now, magic is flawed for 2 reasons: first is that top fighters are atm top mages, second is that magic has always been an ancillary skill for a/d (except some pure mages here and there). I've already posted my thoughts on official, and I still think the same: you cant achieve a mage class with perks or changes to MI until you do major changes to the magic system. Come on, this is the only game i ever played where you can cast spells in melee wearing a dragon armor, a sword and a shield...and where there isnt a single ranged area attack spell for mages... now the constructive part: anyone thinks is a good idea to ask radu a change on magic system rather than a class perk? something like molime poll for attribute cap... |

not from noobs...come up with something and propose it. My rough idea: 1. no attack spells in melee (heal & defensive only) 2. mi removal with huge mana cost and chance of failure 3. add ranged spells (i think it's easy to implement...we already have mines that are ranged) 4. if not 3, enlarge the target area for harm, ld and md 5. let mmd rings cheaper to compensate no md in melee edit: spell (lol) Edited by Fedora, Jun 18 2008, 05:17 PM.

yeh ok I even like most of your points but, nothing in this world (doesn't matter how you turn it around) can make me believe that a spell even with 100 mana cost to remove magic immunity will not instantly stop at least 70% of the remaining pkers to go into a pk map. while your fighting an opponent, already busy enough with getting hit hard some low lvl noob with 50 magic and negged attribute comes and owns the shit out of you while you can't do anything. if you diss your enemy and kill the noob ur enemy runs behind you and catches you while you'r cooldowned. plus the cheaper you make Md/MMD rings the more advantage people with a bigger stor will have again. usually a pker has 80-120 mana. magic immune + 1 restore = 55 mana gone, lets say if you have 120 mana u got 65 left, 1 MDD ring and you'r owned. Im not a programmer ( so proberbly talking out my ass) but couldnt 3 be utalised just by changing odds and sodds of the ranging system ? As far as i can tell the hard work is done, line of sight, hit detection etc. it would just be a case of changing graphics ? True or not ? (havent a clue) Edited by Conavar, Jun 18 2008, 05:23 PM.

yes, sort of. If i had to implement it fast i would do it as an arrow, determine the hit point, place a mine there with 0 timeout... @Temp: what someone else can do, you can do too....hire a noob

fedora i have no problem with it, i actually got enough free pps to cover 48/48 r/w.. but my point is the other people :/ they will not go to PK just to have a 50/50 chance wether they instant kill someone, or wether they get killed in 2 secs. EDIT: ROFL@ con, same happened to me but actually with korrode himself \o/ Edited by TempesT, Jun 18 2008, 05:36 PM.

nuuuu, nuuuu, dont report me, plz :o eheh, luckly i'm not a game designer...that's just a rough idea and % need to be carefully adjusted...however, since radu wants comments, proposal and suggestions, if we come up with something meaningful, coherent and not programming-intensive, i have no problem risking my ass and posting on official. |
