So looking at the character market its obvious some top names are looking to leave EL.

Why do you think this is ? Whats happened to the game to make so many long timers want to leave ?

Im interested to know because even though I havent been playing recently , I will still log in when I get a new puter soon.

So yeh whats made people leave ?

What decisions were made by Radu to make the game less appealing ?

imho its more likely that game after a while doesnt offer much and levels are too hard to make.
The game changes and will continue to change , some ppl will continue play some are not
So those players completed their circle in the game.
I am not saying Radu takes perfect decissions all time but after all its his game

Classic EL is looking good if it actually gets a shot. But along as his main income is still the main server, I don't see any other server being produced that could potentially implode his income from main server.

People are realising that Radu's primary concern, far above any other, is to make money.

Making a good game is a far lower priority for him.

This is more than enough reason to quit any game. Fun for players isn't the goal, so why would anyone play?

People enjoy discussion and debate, and there's many fun (in one way or another) people in the EL community.

So many people say "i only stay(ed) because of friends/the community" ...well, forums is one way people are keeping in touch without having to run the EL client :P

well, tbh.. who said Radu can´t actually try to make a bit of a decent living out of this game? In a way it´s kind of bizarre that 'we' (the players) find it normal to buy gc from and sell gc to other players. Even buy eachother´s characters for rather ridiculous prices too, or even large batches of ingame items for RL cash.

If I were to work and have to pay my boss to do so, I sure as hell would be one pissy employee... if i were one at all. Let alone have my own business and only run it at breakeven at best, and still everyone whining about how USD hungry I would be.

So all in all, I can´t really blame Radu for having that as one of his primary concerns. We all have the right to a nice slice of ham on our sandwich, or a little desert after dinner, right?.

BTW Korr.. new stuff has been implemented to make the game a little more attractive. Some of it would even be usefull for precious PK moments ;P Come check for yourself :D

Smith, W

For me, I can't wait for the new engine. I know it's not going to be graphical nirvana (not by a long shot with my crappy integrated card), but it will sure as hell make EL look a lot nicer.

I know these have already been discussed, but there are some things that (if changed) would definitely bring in more players:

-graphics, obviously.

-gold system. It's simply too expensive to buy good gear, and spending 3-4 hours harvesting is hardly exciting. Money should be easier to come by.

-fighting interface. I dunno, after awhile it just seems a bit boring. Maybe if they could make it look more like actual fighting (yeah, what we have now is an improvement, but it's still a little... tedious, watching the same 2-3 moves without actually connecting).

Also, I wouldn't mind if the EL download size were increased. It's like, 100mb, and yeah that's good for people with dial-up, making it a bit larger to include some nicer things wouldn't be a drastic change (since most people are moving on from dial up anyway). The PW DL was like, 2.3gb, lol.
anyone who doesn't get the orwell reference should read more.

imo, if radu would change his items from the online store to prices that are almost normal with the gc<$ rate, he would get WAY more buyers ^^

No one said Radu shouldn't make any money. The problem is this:

1. Radu wants to make money from the game.
2. Radu doesn't utilise proven methods of making money from a game.

He cant have the end result prior to doing the middle work.
He cant use an on-going major development method and expect to make (lots of) money along the way.

The single best piece of advice Radu could receive is to completely stop trying to make money for 1-2 years. Accept that for 1-2 years EL will not support his household. Focus that 1-2 years on development of the game in direction of fun for the players, and don't be afraid to implement some stuff that will please the majority of MMO inclined people (you can't cater to a niche and expect to get rich). This will lead him to the greatest riches in the long run.

Anyways i'm only repeating stuff i've said a million times before. The facts are that the EL population has been stagnant for years and now it appears that many players are starting to leave, and Radu has been claiming he's making less money than he used to.

There's obviously a problem, denying it wont help, addressing it will.

Holy shit graphics wise EL has come a long long way since I started playing , admittedly only about 3 years ago.

Content wise its got slightly insane though, theres been a massive push to get loads of new skills, armors, weapons, ubber this ubber that , mine this and ward that but here there comes a problem :

The amount of ings it takes to get anywhere in the game now has become slightly insane. It doesnt feel like a game for casual gamers is what im getting at : if you only have perhaps 2 hours a night to play a game, a few days a week, well work it out for yourself wtf can you get in 6 hours of EL ? Not much ey.

And let me say here I still think EL is a great little game and still even after 3 years of playing holds some potential for me but I do think theres some wierd shit going on to.

Example : 1 week were asked to mentor newbs on IP because not enough people are sticking to the game, then next week those harv events get put in to combat GC farming. Kinda shot the newbs in the face right then , how frustrating for a new player who was ok getting the FUCKING tonnes of ing it takes to do anything then they get butt poked by the harv events, thats a wierd decision really wierd.

Someone compared WOW to EL with regards to gc farming but its not even in the same league it really isnt, WOW has like 2 million chinese people who are PAID to farm GC by companys who then sell it on. Those guys literally get paid for 12 hours of farming GC.

Same person said that WOW cant combat the GC farmers, well thats because they DONT WANT TO. When they ban like 450k chinese people in one swoop they dont ban thier IPs because then 2 days later 450k chinese people buy another WOW account LOL see how that works ?

Theres tops 800 people who play EL regularly, surely to god they could find a way to regulate who is selling GC if theres only 800 people regularly ( on a fucking good day to )

Anyway im talking shit now, but tbh it did feel like the mini harvest event was the lazy way out of dealing with GC selling. But thats just my opinion and we all know my opinion is like a cheese grater rubbing on your balls sometimes

Im going for a big spooky dump now before Most Haunted comes on.

BTW how much RL $$ do you think youve spent on EL ? Ive spent 15 english quid in 3 years :/

Korrode are u believing what u are saying, no offence but a two-years business plan without investors or at least bank support is a lol. And the problem is, that radu wants to make money? wtf, who doesnt.
I have a good expirience in rl about plans and how to fund , honestly at what u are saying i would lol even at before-crisis times.
The game doesnt need to get much better (unless u put it from graphics issue but imho i think that Radu target group are players that dont have super-comps), the game needs advertising - so simple-, if he puts some more money into it, there might be more players in-game so the economy will start working, so he wouldnt have to put pressure on existing players. As u can see we have more pro's than n00bs in this game.
My opinion in EL problem:
1. As i said before advertising,
2. Unofficial forum, that has fucked up gc market , and the prices went skyrocketing because of that (there was a good 1$/4kgc rate now its 1$/9kgc) so players that dont buy gc actually suffer

If u actually come up with a real plan and u want to share it with radu, i think he would actually listen
