"He kills a family. we kill his family"

That's insane. Wouldn't he then be getting away free while his family (who could all be very nice people) suffer the consequences? it would make us no better than the criminals.

The death penalty is an easy way out if you ask me, these people need to rot in a jail cell for years.

But, we have to pay to let them rot. I say either hard labor, or death.

Agreed.

Lets make this simple...

1. 3 hots + a cot.

2. Medical.

3. Some TV.

4. Radio.

5. Sports.

6. Newspapers/books/computer access.

7. Church.

8. Phone calls.

9. Exercise equipment.

10. Canteen.

All supported by tax dollars that the working stiffs of America have to pay (minus the canteen). Some people work so hard yet can't afford to do or buy a number of said things above yet these people are getting them all on your tax monies.

Fair?

FUCK NO!

You may say "Death penalty is too easy" and I say you need too look in the face of someone who is about too die knowing that their time is up with nothing they can do about it.

Think about that kid...

I bet he spent that entire year thinking he was going to die every time they entered that room with a new torture item in their hands.

It cost tax payers ~$25,000 per year to imprison just 1 person, in this case we have 4. That is costing us hard working Americans ~$100,000 per year. Lets say these people live another 40 years considering that they have free health care. That's ~$4,000,000 in tax payers monies. Enough is enough already.

For me I would think that the majority of Americans would love to have that $4,000,000 back in their pockets to be able too have the things they are giving up just to make ends meat and take care of their kids.

Quote:

With more than 2.3 million people behind bars, the United States leads the world in both the number and percentage of residents it incarcerates

So 2,300,000 people in prison at the rate of $25,000 per year = $57,500,000,000!

Quote:

More than one in 100 adults in the United States is in jail or prison, an all-time high that is costing state governments nearly $50 billion a year and the federal government $5 billion more

How many pay taxes?

Quote:

Of those filed, 99,880,223 actually had a tax liability and actually paid taxes.

So that means that per year 1 individual with tax liability is paying $575.69 per year to keep people in prison.

I tend to think that the less fiscal responsibility toward the tax payer would a better idea and to get rid of these types of people who commit these kinds of crimes would better humanity as a whole rather then giving them a free fucking ride for the rest of their lives while parents cannot purchase things like nice radios/televisions/beds/etc when they should be able too considering they make an honest living.

I say build a 20 foot wall around Wyoming and move the 20 people who live there to a different place then drop the offenders in there with an empty canteen.

The death penalty actually costs more than keeping the criminals in prison for life due to so many legal costs.

I've always tended to think life in prison was a worse punishment, but I guess opinion's vary.

I'm pretty sure more than a few studies (picture illustrating this) have proven the death penalty is not considered as a deterrent to crime. I'm not completely opposed to the process of capital punishment, but I don't see how society can justify taking someone's life. I mean, I can't see where people get the moral authority to decide if someone should die.

And to be a total buzzkill, I'm not voting in the silly poll:

Quote:

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.

... Not that I honestly believe people who commit these kinds of crimes deserve that, but whatever.

anyone who doesn't get the orwell reference should read more.
