WARNING: MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS I bought Metroid: Other M last friday. Played it for a few hours. The actual gameplay and movement style was decent. the rest of the game, not soo much first of all, there's no exploration. you just follow the corridors till you reach a destination. sometimes backtracking with exception of missiles and energy tanks, there are no weapon upgrades. while porgressing trhrough the game, Commander Adam Malkovich authorizes Samus to use weapons as the story progresses. You don't have to search for missiles and energy tank upgrades. the show up on the map as blue dots Samus Aran, is shown more emotional, suffering PTSD. I don't mind emotional characters, though the contrast with other Metroid games it too big, and they're clearly overdoing it. it's almost sexist, imo The Voice acting is horrid. especially Samus' thoughts I don't mind switching from Super Metroid to Prime (FPS) vision. but scans are sometimes hard to find. Another game casualized -_-; |

While I liked Metroid: Other M... yeah it doesn't compare to other Metroid games at all. I thought the voice acting was gonna be good, specially since, hey, it's Nintendo's heroine, but nope, they have to ruin that. Almost no exploration too, which is disappointing. Haven't played much either, since it's my friend's game, but next time I pass by his house, maybe I can peek at the later levels and tell you guys if it turns around and instead of being linear (not like it's bad, I actually enjoyed the linearity of FFXIII), it's more exploration-based. |

I had a feeling there were going to be problems when Other M took place after Fusion in that Samus had all of her upgrades. I wish that she lost them during her time in quarantine which could make the game more interesting but I guess not. |
