If I can write an entry tomorrow, I'll enter as well. It's almost 1 AM, but I have some ideas of some games that I would consider. And before I write anything, can I include, instead of a specific game, a specific series, like the Spyro the Dragon series (not like I'm putting that one up, just an example) |

The Batman

A series is a little to broad since it could contain alot of games (Example: Mario Series), so you'll have to pick at least one game from the series as the top pick. |

1. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC): One of the best FPS games of this generation, as it promotes teamwork instead of playing by yourself. You play in teams, but teams are divided into squads of four. Communication is the key in this game, specially with your squadmates, thanks to it's class system, such as medic which can heal or revive other teammates, or scout, which can tag a human so that he's always visible, no matter what, until he dies, or can tag a vehicle, which can then make RPGs home in to the vehicles. If there is no team coordination, expect yourself and your team to lose repetitively. Weapon balance is extremely good, compared to other FPS games (coughmodernwarfaretwocough), so that they're easy to use, but hard to master. Respective classes have respective weapons, like medic using Light Machine Guns, scouts using Sniper Rifles, engineers using Shotguns, and such. 2. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (Wii): The 10th entry of the Fire Emblem series and the 4th to come to this side of the world. Introduces 3rd tier jobs instead of the traditional 1st job>2nd job. One glaring bug in the game made the Easy difficulty Normal, Normal as Hard, and so forth. This, in turn, made the game more challenging and thus, less new player friendly. Fire Emblem fans should feel right at home with this game, on the other side of the coin, as this game keeps the traditional rules, like pegasus knights being vulnerable to arrows but near invincible to magic, and other stuff like that, which compromises the main bulk of the strategy. For those weapon maniacs that enjoyed creating weapons in the 9th entry, rejoice, as that system has returned, and it works the same. Overall, if you're looking for a strategy game for the Wii, are a decent strategy game player, and you're not afraid of "permadeath" (as in, if your unit dies, it dies forever. raises difficulty), this game is just for you. 3. Touhou Imperishable Night (PC): If you're looking for a Touhou game and are new to shmups, this game is for you. Overall easier than the other Touhou games, this game features a mode no other Touhou game has: Practice Spellcard Mode. In here, you can practice all the Spellcards (AKA the bosses' special attacks) that you've unlocked here. If you have any trouble with any Spellcard, this is the mode for you .Of course, you have to unlock the Spellcards first, so let's move on to the gameplay. You can choose from the traditional Easy (coughmodocough), Normal, Hard, and Lunatic (And after passing the game in Normal or higher without using a continue, Ex Stage which is a stage that can only be played on one difficulty, and is blazing hard). After choosing the difficulty comes the cool part. In this game, you can actually pick from a whooping 8 (!) characters, which are paired (so technically, 4) into teams, which are Youmu and Yukari (Auto targeting shots), Marisa and Alice (straight shot), Sakuya and Remilia (Gimmick Shot #1), and Youmu and Yuyuko (Gimmick Shot #2). This, overall, makes this game one of the most varied Touhou games (other than PoFV, but that's technically another genre. Somewhat) that has been made up to this point. 4. Mario Kart DS (...DS): Who says old games are bad? One of the first DS games that went out, and still played to this day. You've got a ton of characters, each with their own unique karts (that actually have stats, like Mario's having balanced stats, Dry Bones' having the highest acceleration, etc) that you unlock as you play the Grand Prix mode. Speaking of modes, this game features a plethora of modes. For single player, you have Grand Prix mode, which features 8 cups, 4 cups that feature new maps, 4 cups that feature old maps from previous games. You also have Vs mode, where you can go head to head against other CPU players in teams or everybody against everybody, like in other modes. One new addition, though, is Mission Mode, where you have to do specific goals before you run out of time. You even fight against bosses! Now onto the multiplayer. You have local multiplayer, where you can play a simple game if the other players don't have the game, or normal game if they do. Normal game has Vs mode and some minigames (that are also available in single player). This can last you for days. Months even. Heck, I played this for 3 years in my old school. Never got old at all. But then, there's Wi-Fi. Though it's only Vs mode, this is even better than local, though you have the possibility of running into a player that hacks the game (though it can have hilarious consequences). I still play that to this day, when the game is almost 5 years old. So if you have a DS and want a game that lasts for a good long while, definitely get this. And my greatest game of all time is... 5. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 (PS2): I love this game, the reason being that it's such a unique game. It could fit as a Date Sim/RPG game. Let's start with the basics. I'm going to talk a bit about the story, but mostly the gameplay. This game is set in Japan and you're a student in one of it's rural towns (a fictional town, though). This game has a calendar system, so expect a lot of Japanese holidays, like Golden Week, Children's Day, and such. This ties to the story. You see, after you enter the town, a chain of bizarre murders start occurring when a heavy mist rolls into town at night. This usually happens when there's a couple of days where it's raining constantly. This is where the story starts developing. You, with a pair of friends, stumble into a world which is inside of TVs. Here, they meet a costume (or so you think) called Teddy which gives them glasses that they can use to see in this world (as this world is always filled with a heavy fog. Coincidence much? Not at all). After some stuff happens, monsters appear, you unlock a power that let's you summon Personas, and some other stuff, you learn that people are being thrown into the TV world and when there's fog in the real world, the fog in the TV world gets heavier and the Shadows (the monsters I mentioned earlier) kill whoever is inside the world. From that, you can guess what the trio decides to do. Of course, the trio doesn't stay a trio for long and you get a lot of other characters. Now, into the gameplay. The point of the calendar system is that, while you must go to the TV world to save these people, you're still a student. You have to plan ahead so you can study (and other stuff, this raises some separate stats needed for conversations), meet with friends (who have Social Links, more on that later), and go save the person in the TV world. You can only do one of these after school, so you have to balance everything correctly. There is a time limit, however, and it's when you see 2-3 days of straight rain. That's when the heavy fog rolls into town and the person dies, if not saved. Once you decide to save the person, you can go to a local store which has a large TV you can enter through that serves as your HQ of sorts. Once in the TV, you can go to the dungeons the persons create when they're thrown into the TVs. At the end of the dungeon, you get to battle a Shadow of the person, and once defeated, the Shadow may turn into a Persona the person can use, and thus, joins your party. Now onto Personas. While your teammates have one Persona, you, the main hero, can obtain different ones. You can gain them from enemies, using a card shuffle system, or through fusion. Fusion is where you're going to waste countless hours making your Personas. When you fuse Personas, they can turn into a different Persona of a different arcana (for example, a Fool Persona and an Empress Persona make a Moon Persona). They can, however, randomly inherit a move from their previous incarnations (the Moon Persona can have a move the Fool Persona once had, for example). It makes for a lot of customization. Now for battles. Battles are straightforward. You can attack with your normal weapon, use one of the Persona's special abilities, change Personas, defend, or run. Your teammates have the same commands less change Personas. Special abilities are divided into Attacks (which have an element, such as Physical, Fire, Ice, etc), healing, or buffs (which are extremely good in this game, almost mandatory on later bosses). One particular part of the battle system is the One More! system. If you hit a weakness of an enemy (for example, hit a Shadow that's weak to Fire with Agi, which is a basic Fire spell), they fall down and lets the character that delivered the attack attack once more. if you keep doing this until all enemies have fallen down, you can team up with your teammates and, essentially, gang up on the enemy and attack then all together, dealing extra damage. This system lets you defeat specially challenging enemies easily. For the last part of this game, let's talk about Social Links. These are links you establish with people that let you power up Persona fusions and gain access to special Personas. It also gives your teammates some extra abilities in battle and, when completed, evolve their Persona. It's as simple as that, but incredibly deep. For example, if you enter the basketball club, you'll become friends with one of the guys and gain a Social Link (Which are named after the arcanas, like Fool, which is the main character's arcana, Magician, which is a teammate's arcana, etc.) with him. After talking with him for a while, you learn he's facing a family crisis. If you help him with his problems, and keep talking to him, you'll keep raising the Social Link level until it hits the max, where he solves the problem and you become best buds with him (you can actually become lovers with any girl teammate in this game. And with all of them too at the same time. Harem? Yes indeed). It's an specially charming sidequest, that while you don't have to do it, brings that fuzzy feeling inside that you helped him face his problem. Overall, this easily makes for 40+ hours before you can even finish the game, and then there's the multiple endings, and if you achieve the true ending, gives you new game plus, which adds even more time to your gameplay (I have about 100 hours, so you can imagine how long it is). If you still have a PS2 or a backwards compatible PS3, I definitely recommend you buy this game even if it's a bit old, although it was actually the last PS2 game to be made. So yeah, long post is long, but I don't really like to omit any part that's worth talking about in any game. Enjoy my longest post to date. Edited by AetherShadow, May 27 2010, 01:51 PM.

Well I was hoping for a few more entries, so I'll give it another week. And whoever wins is gonna have to wait a bit. I kinda NEED to get a new laptop now since this one is getting even worse. (Hey I kept it running this long at least lol. New one I'm looking at is $900 so yeah..) I'll see if I can save enough to spare $20 in the next month or two, sorry all.
