List what you think are the greatest games of all time. 5 at most. At the end, list in detail (Maybe 2-4 paragraphs) which one of those 5 games, you think is the best game of all time. I'll rate them all, and maybe, give the one who gives the best description a little present. Edited by Light, May 21 2010, 10:52 AM.

That's a hard list to make. -Modern Warfare 2 (PS3/360/PC) - Awesome FPS which beats Halo anyday. Multiplayer is a blast to play. -Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3) - Naughty Dog and Nolan North, period. -Left 4 Dead 2 (360/PC) - Zombie mayhem with guns and golf clubs. -Batman Arkham Asylum (PS3/360/PC) - Best Batman and comic book-based game yet. -Sonic the Hedgehog (SEGA Genesis) - The original Sonic game is always the best in my book. And my best game is: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Easily the best game of all time. The improved graphics and controls over the first one made the experience more enjoyable and pleasing to watch. With a great story revolving around Shambala and the Chintimani stone (I hope I spelled that right). Superb voice acting developed the characters in a great way and made them all the more lovable. Single-player is a blast -which sets you up for Multiplayer- and the goosebumping moments will always leave you wanting more and generally unable to put down the controller. All the guns are balanced and are fun to use whenever you use it. You'll barely get bored with this game and it has a lot of DLC that are packed with more maps, game modes and characters to play with until you snap. The music is also something that should be acknowledged as it is one of the best OST of any game. Despite that, it still has it's flaws. The grenades are always a pain in the neck to master and will kill you faster than any other gun so far that I know. Most guns also have high recoil and large crosshairs which can ruin your aim in most cases. And the game can also get really hard in levels and online play. Also, it should be noted that no matter how beautiful or how big the world is, there isn't much exploring to be made as Tthe stages are pretty linear and straight forward. ------- Edit: Edited most of the third paragraph. The original Wild Arms. Definitely an underrated gem of an RPG. The characters are great, and very well developed. Sure, there's a princess, but having a princess actually fighting in your party and do something useful was awesome, and at least somewhat of a new concept. You knew she was a princess right from the beginning, she actually had a personality that wasn't stereotyped to death, and she's not the last of her kind or anything, so she wasn't a throw-away plot twist waste of imagination like most RPGs today... *cough* The setting was a wasteland, the first to my recollection to take place in what was basically a post-apocalyptic crapsack of a world. Outlaws are practically their own social class and the only inherently good people are apparently the clergy and royal family. Even so, when the world is threatened, they still fight for what's left of the world. It can get pretty emotional. Especially when Rudy, the ever-silent avatar for the player Spoiler: click to toggle Just when you begin to think that the main protagonist is stoic and has plot immunity to anything bad happening to him, Siegfried tries to drag him into a black hole with an unbreakable magic chain. Spoiler: click to toggle Another kick to the player is when it turns out that Jack's girlfriend, who had an implied death during the opening that plays if you wait enough on the start screen, is Spoiler: click to toggle There are a couple hilarious instances of messing with the fourth wall, too. Calamity Jane says something to the effect of "but this is a game! Everyone's supposed to have some kind of special ability!" In the Sealed Library, which supposedly contains every book ever made, there are palette swaps of the book-shaped enemies called Strategy Guides. There are also a few funny gags, too. Zed, who is viewed as a useless villain sidekick and mostly a filler boss, comes back as an optional extra boss later. He's fully capable of handing your ass to you in two turns even after beating the endgame. The Adult Mag enemies in the library can also inflict blindness on your party members. Even the princess, Cecilia, isn't immune to this effect. The graphics were definitely good, but did leave a little to the imagination. The music was, and still is, awesome. The gameplay length was also well worth the money and still more. Even if you know exactly what you're doing, going for everything can take many hours. My most recent playthrough is 60+ hours. I don't want to make a list of 4 other games to go with this because I'd have to buy a flame shield. I'm probably off to a bad enough start by not saying FFVII or OoT. |

@ negativezeroz: nor do OoT / FFVII appear on my top 5 my list only contains games I've beaten. a few PS3 games have a good chance to appear on this list in the future, but I haven't beaten Heavy Rain nor Uncharted 2. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GCN) The Sanity system really screw with your head Metroid Prime (GCN) perfect in every sense Atmopheric. It's graphic and art style can still compete with the current generation. Portal (X360) Best laugh I ever had. Super Mario World (SNES) The first game I mastered 100% The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB) The Game Boy was my 1st console. I've played a few games. though this game is what got me into gaming. I didn't speak English back then and had a hard time progressing. One day I dceided to search for a dutch walkthrough on the web. which led me to Gamefaqs; A whole world opened for me. I didn't even know Zelda was such a big franchise. |

Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I'm willing to call it my favorite game of all time. Sonic 3 and sonic and Knuckles are great on their own but when you put them together, then Wow. You get a save file, that's nice and the choice between 3 characters. The game play is almost identical to the first two games, but the addition of Knuckles spices things, Depending on your character the game differs slightly. With Knuckles you can reach places you normally cant as Sonic, and with Sonic, you get a few different levels and bosses at the end. Collecting the emeralds is challenging, yet fun in an odd way, and after you get the first set, you can collect the super emeralds for another form, though its not that different. Music is amazing, and the graphics (for the time) are dimply great, from the backgrounds (especially inside the pyramid stage) to the sprites themselves. The animation is excellent. Hyper Sonic is amazing just to look at. Edited by Chaoskicks, May 22 2010, 01:40 PM.

Final Fantasy IX Just.. Final Fantasy IX. What's not to love about it? It's amazing, the characters are great and hilarious, and the story is absolutely heartwarming with a large touch of dark/mysterious. I mean, everything about the game is amazing, and it's seriously underrated compared to a COUPLE overrated ones... *cough*7and8*cough* Heck, most of the Final Fantasy games before 7 were way more awesome. (and everything after X-2 went downhill.. I want my turn based fighting back, please. Like old times.) ANYWAYS. If you have not played IX yet, make sure you do at least once in your lifetime, as you're missing out if you don't. D: It's one of my all time favorite games for a reason. If only for the loveable characters. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Now, while I absolutely love OoT and it's one of my favorites too (yes I mentioned it, sue me) A Link to the Past will always hold that 'best Zelda game' title in my heart. Mainly because it was the first Zelda game I ever played, and would go back to play it again in a heartbeat. Before you go "Ew, that game is old the new Zelda games are so much better" no. No no no. The new Zelda games are not better, in fact this game kicks their cans all the way to Hong Meiling in comparison. It just has this hook that gets you and keeps you playing. I'm not sure how to describe it, but the entire game just makes you keep playing because it's that good. The bosses are fun, the dungeons are fun and surprisingly not redundant, and the world map is huge and fun to explore too. Also, lots of items always make me a happy panda, since I love having a big arsenal to choose from. True, this game is old, true it doesn't have the best graphics, but that's quite alright. Because the story and the gameplay make up for that entirely, trust me. Childhood favorite, check it out if you can someday. It's worth it. Grand Chase While it's an MMO, it's still, in my opinion one of the best ones out there. Unlike most MMO's this game has a little something for everyone to enjoy, and is still fun no matter what option you choose to do. You can fight other players in arenas if you choose to, or you can go out dungeoning and killing monsters to level up. Not to mention there are tons of armor and different items to get, and most of all, fun little pets to accompany you and fight with you along the way. This game is really good for those of you that like platforming, seeing as dungeons has things called 'Jump Quests' in which you basically jump across platforms over a large endless abyss and try not to fall. Now you may think "Oh, this is a kids game these can't be hard!" wrong. True this game may look like a kiddie game, but it really isn't, it's only the graphics that make it look like that. Things in this game are really REALLY REALLY challenging at times, so much that I wouldn't even call it a children's game, rather a teenager game if anything. Banjo Kazooie/Tooie One of my childhood favorites. This game was fun, had a lot of things to explore and was really really hilarious. The comical nature about the game is probably what made it one of my faves, seeing as there was a joke around every corner, even the lame puns made me laugh. The game was also rather challenging and had many levels to roam around in, plus there were things to find in each level which always kept you playing and trying to find all the pieces, Jinjo's, and notes. There are also tons of powerups for Banjo and Kazooie (the mains characters) that made the game much more fun and were required to solve some puzzles. I definately recommend this game series if you want a game with a lot of comedy. Spyro the Dragon Yet again, childhood favorite. I loved this series so much, I'm not sure what it was but it really had this hook that grabbed you and made you keep playing. Though I said that before about other games, it's really true. You play as a little dragonling named Spyro who has a wide array of breath powers like ice breath, fire, wind, and even lightning. He has a funny little companion named Sparx who you sometimes take control of for some flying levels or places Spyro can't access. While Spyro can't fly, he can glide, and in special levels he can indeed fly around to complete missions. There are a lot of characters in the series, some you can play as and others you cannot, but each of them are very loveable and fun. --- And there's my top five. Out of the five listed, I would have to choose Banjo Kazooie as the best game of all time. The characters, levels, and the gameplay all make it an all around fun, amusing and amazing game. I really REALLY recommend that you pick it up and try it at least once if you can find it, it's definately worth it. I guarantee you will laugh hard at least once during the game, as it has a bunch of humor. Edited by Junsei, May 27 2010, 11:31 AM.

So yah i guess ill do this too... might as well lolz Ocarina of Time I kno... this game is over done etc etc... but i still like it. this is wat a game SHOULD have been. It had a great story, good gameplay, an EXCELLENT music score, and some of hte most epic bosses out of all the zelda games... Golden Sun (1/2) This is (in my opinion) the best RPG ever made. with most of the recent RPGs, its all about using the strongest thing u could find, with a small penalty (like i needed that extra 100 HP FF7.) But this game added more strategy to it. Sure, u could get ur summon that would do 2/3K damage, but was it worth losing half ur HP? Was using that summon once worth losing ur "Heal Entire Party" ability or ur attack that (while it only hit one person) was overkill against that one person? Chrono Trigger This is definately the greatest RPG that Square Enix has ever come out with. Im not entirely sure why i liked this game so much, it just had its little things in that added up to epicness. For instance the multiple endings that had to be gotten at certain times (or they were lost forever,) or when getting an item u had to make sure it wasnt in a later time as well (cuz if u got it in the past first, there was no future item,) as well as a pretty good score (even if it wasnt as good as FF8's... Liberi Fatali anyone?) DONT OPEN UNLESS U WANT TO RUIN THE GAME!!!!! Spoiler: click to toggle Final Fantasy IV Easily the best FF game... most people say its one of the 3 PS ones (7/8/9), but while they were good (especially 9) this game was the pinnacle of FF. It had one of the best stories in the series, that constantly threw new things at u to keep u off ur guard, it had some epic music. It had some of hte funniest lines in all the games (Spoony Bard :P) while at the same time maintaining its self as a serious title... It had a happy main character, as opposed to the trend that followed shortly after ward with its semi Emo self depressed Protagonists (6/7/8) Edited by Fayte Isaac, May 21 2010, 09:46 PM.

I think I need to clarify my first post. You list 5 games, with a short discritpion of each. Then you pick one of those 5 and explain in a few paragraphs why it IS THE BEST GAME. Hope that clears it up. |

I'll be doing this by genres, 1 from 5 genres I enjoy. Please note this is my opinion, so flaming and bashing is not welcome. Platformer: Kirby Superstar/Kirby Superstar Ultra As per any Kirby game, the younger crowd is satisfied with the cutesy platforming and easy bosses. I am in love with this score, while gourmet race isn't my favorite track like most people. It's the Bumper Crop Bump themes from Kirby 64 due to my insatiable love for upbeat music in video games. Moving on, Kirby Superstar Ultra brought the love of Kirby to a new level. It introduced many series icons such as the Haliberd, and some not-so-staples but cool powers like Mirror (one of my favorite powers in Kirby next to Paint, Clean, and Cupid), and concepts like helpers. For the hardcore platformer fans that are diehard fans of the quirky, unique gameplay of any Kirby game, they gave the many versions of arena. All in all, a perfect package of a platformer game. Rhythm: Osu! Tatake! Ouendan! (or Ouendan 2) Henceforth known as Ouendan, the americanized version is Elite Beat Agents. Despite this, EBA was created due to how popular Ouendan was with game importers. Despite having "crappy" pops songs in it, EBA kept the quirky and weird humor and style of Ouendan and made a good port. Onto actually talking about Ouendan, it was the perfect game for any rhythm lover who loved a good rhythm game. The songs were wonderful and enjoyable, the cast was quirky and lovable, the difficulty was always just right, and the stories were always full of injokes and cameos referencing the rest of the series. My pick for favorite Rhythm game, I still pick it up and play it even now. NiS shows they can always make a good game :3. Fighting: Touhou Fighting games (Touhou Sumisou, Touhou Hisouten, Touhou Hisoutensoku) The Touhou fighting games were a perfect balance of a wonderful soundtrack arranged by U2; a wonderful system; and likable characters. The Touhou fighters are spinoffs of the bullet hell games from Touhou, but they're completely canon in the storyline and are so faithful to the genre. It's basically bullet hell, but in a fighting game engine. The system is sleek and smooth, and all the characters are different so the roster of twenty completely unique characters as of Hisoutensoku makes for some surprises. While there are some issues, such as weather, it's barely annoying and the gameplay is fun and different in every match played. RPG: Tales of Symphonia I know we all pretty much had only Symphonia on our GCN roster of RPGs, but it still holds one of my favorite fictional characters of all time in the list. The story was extremely elaborate for any game on the GCN, and the 40+ hours of sidequest content and 40+ hours of story were extremely nice. While I wish it didn't have spell queue or had free run, the gameplay was great like any game in the Tales of Series. The Linear Motion Battle System was revolutionary for it's time, and keeps amazing me all the way with each Tales of Game that is released. The characters were well developed if they weren't named Regal, it was the perfect work of art for a GCN RPG. Potpurri: Mario Party Now you may be asking, why the hell is Mario Party here? Mario Party is mostly here for nostalgia, and the first one was certainly not as bad as some of the later ones. Mario Party was my first video game ever, making Peach my first video game character to ever play as and start a loooooooooooooooooooooooong trend of me playing mostly females in video games out of habit. The fun aspect of partying with my friends with some Mario characters (at the time, it was just my dad whom I played with) was always extremely fun. The boards were enjoyable, and I loved going around and getting the cake. Every minigame was a treat, and 2 of my 3 favorite minigames in the series (Mushroom Mixup and Mario Bandstand) are all in Mario Party 1. Day at the Races is in Mario Party 2. Despite the flack this series gets, it's still a favorite in my heart despite the fact it could always be better. My favorite out of these 5 is probably Mario Party, due to it holding a very nostalgic place in my heart. Even if you don't like it, you should thank the game for existing. Without it, I probably wouldn't be the person I am today :3. Thanks for reading. Edited by PLZSIC, May 22 2010, 01:36 PM.
