Let Us Remember - Johto

 Many great things have come from Gold, Silver, Crystal and the region of Johto. Shall we use this topic to remember?

The second generation was introduced, ending at Celebi.
The region of Johto was introduced, and allowing access to Kanto later on.

Shiny Pokemon made a debut, with the guaranteed shiny at Lake of Rage; Gyarados.
Breeding was made possible
Genders were introduced outside of the Nidoran families.
Crystal introduced animated sprites in the handheld games.
Gold, Silver and Crystal were the first hand-held games to have Legendaries as Box Mascots.

I know I've left things out, so now it's over to you. Feel free to list the features I've missed out, features you liked or anything else you had a liking for. This is all for the memory of Johto and the Second Generation handhelds.

 The introduction of steel and dark type pokemon.
