| Welcome to USS Shephard. We hope you enjoy your visit. We are a simming group dedicated to scientific and exploratory discovery. However most of my members do know how to get into the action when its time for it. Our vessel is a Rhode Island version of the Nova Class Starship. The Rhode Island class was seein in Act One of the Star Trek: Voyager finale "Endgame" under the command of Captain Harry Kim. The USS Shephard is named after the late Alan Shephard, an aviator in the United States Navy. Who also became one of America's very first astronauts as a part of the Mercury program. We strive to live up to that courage and commitment which he and the other astronauts showed by venturing into the unknown. You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. She is also a highly accomplished martial artist and proficient with a variety of Terran and non-Terran weapons. She is officially listed by the Federation as a certified lethal weapon, a fact that many are surprised to discover. Family Information Father: Jorge Torres Mother: Paloma Torres Siblings: N/A Spouse: N/A Children: N/A Medical Information Medical History: Gabriela is quite healthy, very rarely ill. She also seems to be immune to the common injuries associated with her line of work, with most of her the injuries listed being the usual minor injuries common to Starfleet officers. She has a history of drug use, but it does not seem to have impacted her health. Gabriela is somewhat heavy for her height, due to a strenuous exercise plan designed to allow her to compete with much larger male officers in order to do her job. During one of Gabriela's classified missions, she took a serious blow to the head. After the wound healed, the hair in the area grew back in a startling shade of silver rather than the normal deep brown. Doctors have attributed this odd occurrence to several things, such as Gabriela's drug use before Starfleet, but no one is truly certain of why this occurred. Because some of Gabriela's missions were so highly classified, portions of her medical history have also been blacked out. This information is available only to the Chief Medical Officer, and only if Starfleet Intelligence feels the information needs to be revealed. Allergies: None on record Psychological Information Psychological Profile: Fiercely loyal, highly intelligent, and extremely dangerous, Gabriela is known throughout Starfleet as "the Lioness". She is also often referred to as "the Little Devil" and "the Panther". Others have likened her to a pit bull or a Rottweiler, but none dare say so to her face. Despite this reputation, Gabriela is really quite friendly, provided you can get past her rough exterior. She has little to no shame, and does not fear consequences. She also has not qualms about the less ethical side of her job, making her a very effective interrogator and an excellent assassin, should that service be needed. She has been known to use unconventional methods during interrogations. Due to the nature of her rather high-profile job, Gabriela is nearly always armed for personal security. Hobbies & Interests: Holonovels, sports, getting into trouble.... Personal History Information Before Starfleet: Even in the enlightened twenty-fourth century, Tijuana is a major drug capital on Earth. This is where Gabriela was born in the spring of 2351. The Torres family had owned a house there for many decades, and Gabriela's parents, Jorge and Paloma, lived there. The neighborhood in the immediate vicinity was relatively clean, but only a few blocks away, the illegal drug trade reigned on the streets. Even in their neighborhood, the gangs often ruled the night. Gabriela was only fifteen when she fell in with one of the gangs. Though her parents became suspicious of her sudden behavioral changes, they never questioned her. For the last three years of her high school education, Gabriela ran with the gang, experimenting with drugs, sex, and crime. In the fall of 2369, only a few months after her eighteenth birthday, she was hospitalized for a drug overdose. Waking up in the hospital was a shocking wake up call that convinced her that the life she'd been living was a bad idea. Despite detoxing being something of a nightmare, Gabriela stuck to it and began looking for other outlets. Soon after she left the hospital, she was attending a civilian college. Because of her criminal record and low high school scores, the instructors had low expectations, but Gabriela surprised them all by graduating ahead of schedule. Then, looking for a way to redeem herself, she began to consider joining Starfleet. When Gabriela first petitioned to join Starfleet, Academy officials were reluctant to accept her application due to her criminal record. However, upon seeing her college scores, one officer saw some potential in her and convinced the Academy officials to give her a chance. Still somewhat reluctant, they allowed Gabriela to take both the Starfleet Vocational Aptitude Battery and the Starfleet Language Aptitude Battery exams at her request. She scored in the 95th percentile on the SVAB and a 134 out of 140 on the SLAB. Impressed, the Academy officials green lighted Gabriela's entrance into the Starfleet Language Institute, to be followed by Starfleet Academy. Starfleet Academy: Gabriela first attended the Starfleet Language Institute in Monterrey, California, where she studied several languages at once. She qualified in Romulan, Cardassian, Vulcan, Klingon, and Caitian. It was thought that she would choose to become an interpreter or a communications officer, but when she reached the Academy at the age of twenty-five, Gabriela instead decided on intelligence, specifically "Sentient Intelligence" and interrogation. She also studied basic Intelligence Operations. Gabriela did well in her classes, but mild boredom prevented her from graduating as highly as she truly could have. She found many of the courses to be less than challenging. Still, upon her graduation, Gabriela was one of a handful of students promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. During Starfleet Service: Gabriela's first assignment out of the Academy was as Deputy Chief Intelligence Officer on the Isis. Her commanding officer did not feel that Gabriela had earned her early promotion and judged her by her criminal past rather than her achievements at the Academy. As such, Gabriela was rarely given the same level of responsibility and respect as the other officers. It was that same criminal history that prevented her from requesting reassignment to another ship, so she was stuck there until her term on the Isis was complete. **Information from 2384 to 2385 is classified top secret and not available to view** In late 2385, Gabriela was assigned to the Chameleon in her now familiar role of Deputy Chief Intelligence Officer. Now having built up a reputation that overcame her less than desirable past, Gabriela was treated with much more respect than she had been on the Isis. Her reputation of "the Lioness" began on the Chameleon when she, with no regard to her own personal safety, went toe to toe with a visiting Klingon delegate who became angry with the crew. Though she lost the ensuing fight, she had now gained the respect of a people outside the Federation. The incident fueled her increasing drive to better herself, and Gabriela adapted her already strenuous exercise regime to further her combat effectiveness. In 2387, Gabriela became the Chief Intelligence Officer on the Chameleon. **Information from 2388 is classified top secret and not available to view** In late 2388, Gabriela returned from a classified assignment with an unusual new marking. She had taken a serious blow to the head, and the hair in the area of the wound had begun to grow in as a startling shade of silver rather than her normal deep brown. The appearance of this bright silver streak in Gabriela's hair so puzzled Starfleet Medical that she essentially became a lab animal, subjected to many tests. Although no cause was ever found for the occurrence, Starfleet Medical doctors officially listed it as "possibly related to previous drug use". **Information from 2389 to 2390 is classified top secret and not available to view** When Gabriela returned from a classified mission in 2390, she was assigned to the Shephard as Chief Intelligence Officer. |
