Everything is totally sweet.

Scott Pilgrim's life is so awesome. He's 23 years old, in a rock band, "between jobs," and dating a cute high school girl. Everything's fantastic until a seriously mind-blowing, dangerously fashionable, roller blading delivery girl named Ramona Flowers starts cruising through his dreams and sailing by him at parties. But the path to Ms. Flowers isn't covered in rose petals. Ramona's seven evil exes stand between Scott and true happiness. Can Scott defeat all seven of the bad guys and get the girl without turning his precious little life upside-down, before the game is over?

The film is based on the six-part Oni Press graphic novel series created by Bryan Lee O'Malley. (IMDB)

You've all seen this, right? Right?

If not, go see it now. If not not, come over and play the video game with me. And shut up about the picture alright. I had a sweet Scott Pilgrim jpeg, but then it transformed into Nausicaa when I clicked through to it. Blame Google Images.

The more I think about Scott Pilgrim, the more I accept/maybe-like it, but that also means the more I feel like a dirty hipster. Is there a cure for this or do I just have to learn to stop worrying and accept the hipster counter-culture?

I don't think so. Scott Pilgrim makes you fell hipstery but it really isn't. There aren't really any counterculture messages in Scott Pilgrim, it's just set in a growing subculture.

Scott Pilgrim cannot, by definition, be hipster. The movie was advertised out the wazoo, nearly everyone knows about it. It's too popular to be hipster.

But if it was advertised craptastically and no one saw it or really knew what it was about, can it be hipster then?

Idea: Who would come to an PRIVATE EXCLUSIVE SUPER AWESOME anime club screening of Scott Pilgrim in the SUB? This would be the week it's here on the Midweek Movies run, so it's still a ways off (after the DVD release, even), but...

Anyways, lemme know and I'll try and finagle something!
