You rejected my Yahoo offer without a counter or note, so maybe we were way farther apart than I thought we might be.

I'm not sure what parts didn't work for you so I'll throw another offer out there and then explain my position.

Jonathan Papelbon ($3.5 expiring this season)
Jake McGee ($0.5 R)
Starlin Castro ($3.0 in his 3rd yr)
Martin Prado ($9.0 owed through all of next season)

(I'm thinking you didn't want to give up Reed?)
FOR

Adrian Beltre ($5.8 expiring this season)
Alexei Ramirez ($5.0 exp. after '14) or Alicides Escobar ($1.2 in his 3rd yr) or Manny Machado ($0.5 R)
Brennan Boesch ($1.2 in his 3rd yr) or Delmon Young ($5.2 exp after '16) or Jarrod Dyson ($0.5 R)
one of my young pitchers from; Noel Arguelles, Danny Duffy, Jeremy Jeffress, John Lamb, Mike Montgomery, or Drew Pomeranz (all are rookies except Duffy who is now in his 2nd year pro)
My 2nd round draft pick in the rookie draft.

Breakdown:

I'm taking $16.0 off your payroll, most of which is the bad contract of Martin Prado who has elig at 2 power positions and he has no power, and doesn't steal bases. I'm willing to do this because I am that desperate for pitching and intentionally left a good chunk of payroll space to take on a bad contract or two if needed. You could take in return all expiring / non-gauranteed contracts to allow for a bunch of cap space for free agency next year, or take players like Delmon Young and/or Alexei Ramirez who would provide low cost servicable options even as backup or platoon players. You get a young pitcher back for your young pitcher to make it an even 4 for 4 trade. You also get my 2nd round pick in the rookie draft to stockpile another top prospect. I might be willing to give up my 1st round pick, but in that scenario I am not going to take the worthless Prado unless you pay a good chunk of that contract because I'll have to fill holes on my roster via free agency which is a lot riskier than a draft pick who is super low cost.

What are your thoughts? Am I even close? You have saves dominated right now, you can easily give up a couple a week and not sweat it. I think you are getting the sweet deal here and I am way overpaying to fill out a bullpen that can just keep me competitive.
