I may be doing this wrong so correct me if I have something wrong. I am trying to figure out Rickie Weeks salary. If I've counted correctly this is his 7th season so I need to use is real life contract. But he and the Brewers have not agreed to an arbitration salary. So do I just have to wait until they agree or they go to the judge and his salary is assigned? And how does next year work for him in UFBDL? Since most likely he will only sign a 1 year arb deal, will I get a chance to keep in next year or does he go into the FA pool? I think the new rules allow me to keep him if I agree to take on his average contract for the number of years he signs for. |

You are in a unique situation here Dan. Yes and yes (and yes) are your short answers, but here's the longer version. Since Weeks is waiting for either the arbitrator to decide his salary or the Brewers to cave in and meet his demands before going to a hearing, you will have to wait until next week to find out what his salary for this season is. If he signs a long term contract in real life with the Brew Crew (which the Brewers are trying hard to do which is the biggest reason they are getting so close to going to the hearing) then after this season you may elect to adopt that contract, with Weeks' base salary being the average annual salary over the number of gauranteed years that he gets signed to in real life (if that indeed happens at all). If he doesn't get an extension in real life, he will become a free agent, both for the MLB and the UFBDL. |
