A man lay face first in the sand a little bit away from the hold's main beach. He couldnt really move, but he blinked sand and water from his eyes. He sighed... Not again... he thought. at least no one was with me this time.... He struggled to stand but found that his leg would not move the way he wanted it to, and pain shot up his thigh. He rolled over and looked down at the disobedient leg and realized that his thigh bone had been snapped in two. No wonder he felt sick to his stomach. Looking away from the offensive sight he realized that he was near a hold. I have to crawl, even if I shouted, they wouldnt hear me from here... So he crawled backwards, so he wouldnt get any more sand in the wound that the bone has made by coming through his skin. Using his arms and his good leg he dragged the broken leg through the sand. "Why couldnt you put me closer to the hold you sharding ship fish..." he mumbled through gritted teeth as he pulled his way through sand. He was out of breath and almost out of strength. He had not even gone two dragon lengths yet. He decided to yell. He couldnt go any further, and asking for help was almost as painful as his leg... "Anybody hear me!?! My leg's broken!! I cant move!" |

Like seagulls, yet not, prettier but with cries that was not all that much less when it came to pitch, a pair of firelizards takes off from a nearby tree in reply to the calls from the man. The blue and twin greens circles above, chirruping and chattering in alarm at one another. Upset by the storm, their nests lost, and upset again at the changed view of the beach. After a while, a brown and an amber yellow firelizard joins the fair of wilds. These two slowly descends, to circle closer by the man with the broken leg. Calmer, yet still upset, these two also differs from the first, due to the stripes of colours that are painted around their necks and over their wings. |

The man's eyes widened at the sight of the firelizards. He had seen them before, but never this close. The small fishing hold he came from never had the honor of any eggs being given to them. They had just been too insignificant to get the opportunity. So when he saw them that close he almost forgot the pain in his leg until he tried to move away from the circling creatures. That's when he noticed the stripes on their necks. "Markings... they're not wild!" He whispered, trying not to scare them away. Now what was it that one did when they were trying to make friends with these things? "Oh right... thoughts" He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. I'm hurt, please get help...I need humans... it hurts really bad. he thought and also thought of himself being lifted on a stretcher by other people. He continued to think this and slowly opened his eyes to see if it had any affect on the firelizards. Edited by Want2BAuthor, Tue Mar 3, 2009 2:56 am.

The brown flies off, but the amber descends, the firelizard dancing closer and closer towards the human on the beach, before it settles down to circle above him, eyes whirling with colours of alarm and curiosity. *** After being stuck in the Weyr for day, T'iem had it up his neck with socializing. Even his weyrmate had begun to grate on his nerves. And Neoth was much the same. When news came that they where to help out in the Hold, or clean up around the Weyr, the Rider and his half-moon silently snuck off, leaving the Weyr before the rest of the meeting was done. "This is life" T'iem remarks some time later, when with wind in their faces he and Neoth glides in a thermal up in the sky, the half-moon sticking to the beach, his interest mainly on the peculiar things the storm had blow up ashore. ~Flitters found something down over there~ the dragon remarks, his keen eyes with ease picking out what to his Rider were nothing but a dark splotch on the ground. ~Looks like a human~ he adds, and tilts his wings to veer over into that direction. The dragon glides downwards, circling the area once, his large area moving across the one down on the ground, before the dark hued dragon goes down in landing a bit away, as he has to search about a bit to find a safe place to land on. Another little while later, and T'iem walks in zig-zag around logs and other debris blown ashore, making his way towards the amber firelizard and the hurt man. Neoth was following him, the dragon moving in gently steps as he sticks as close to his Bonded as the terrain allows him. |

"Come on!!" The man cried as the brown went away and the little amber just kept getting closer. "I thought you things were supposed to be smart and all that... one flies away and one does nothing..." He sighed flopping backwards onto the sandy beach. He immediately regretted that move. The action had a side effect as his leg was moved and he screamed in pain. He opened his teary eyes to the sky seeing a dark dragon circling around once, "HEY!!! Down here!!!" he yelled waving his arms as best he could. By then the dragon had veered off to find a landing spot, but the man thought that the dragon had not seen him. "Oh great...." He sighed. He was getting very disappointed and depressed in the whole situation. He tried to start pulling himself again, maybe he had gotten enough rest to go a little more. Grunting with pain and exertion at each move, he didn't hear anyone approaching. |

The thin tall man stretches his long spidery legs out, moving over the beach in a faster stride to close the gap of sand left between him and the man on the beach. "Sir!" he calls out, as he hurries the last metres. Halting beside the injured on, he looks down on him, lurching shadow of a dragon moving up behind him to cast a shadow against the sun. Kneeling, T'iem removes his helm, goggles and gloves, and reaches with his arms and hands out to check on the man on the beach. |

Julayrel was startled but did not scream or make a noise. His body gave a twitch as he instinctively moved away from strange hands, and pain raced up his thigh into his hip. Needless to say he stopped moving. The young man grit his teeth. Now that another person was there his pride got the better of him, he would not show his pain now. "I didnt hear your approach..." He said softly, "Thank you for coming" He added, even softer gratitude was not his strong point. He motioned to his leg just as the dragon shadowed over him, and surprisingly he wasnt scared. He was more in awe at the huge creature. He stared for a good couple of minutes until his leg began to throb. He returned back to the offensive limb, "It's broken, and needs to be set and wrapped up as soon as possible. The sand and everything can cause infection..." He mumbled, he had seen many a broken leg turn infectious from sand and other things. The healers at the hold had eventually taken those legs, and he would not allow himself to become like that. |

The musky Rider nods, at first not giving any answer, then, feeling he perhaps should, even as he was not by any means a chatty person, he elongs his answer. "Yes, looks broken to me to. I have called back to the Weyr for the Healer to come with a stretcher. It might take a while" he adds, making no attempt to say how long a while where. For him, the ten to fifteen minutes it would take Tine to assemble her items and strap up her dragon was a while, but for someone else, it might have counted as a short time, all things considered. "Are you cold?" he asks instead, rather abruptly. Not waiting for an answer, the Rider removes his thick leather jacket and moves to sling it around the strangers shoulders. "You are not from the fishinghold are you? What is your name?" he asks on, more of a contemplating note in his voice -T'iem could not do so much more then wait at this point. |

He didnt even realize it but he was rather cold. The air after storms was usually cold, and having lost blood from the break in his leg, and the sweat on his skin was drying from the ocean breeze, he was rather chilly. He excepted the jacket with another low thanks. "I'm not from this fishing hold, but I am from one up North. I'm Julayrel. I didnt realize storms came up this fast here. I tried to ride it out but my boat capsized...it's..." He stopped suddenly. He was going to say it's happened before but decided not to. "It's strange how ship fish help out survivors at sea..." He didnt know what else to say. He didnt even know if this dragonrider would believe he had been saved that way. But it was better than saying what he had thought. A sudden picture of his brother slipping into the waves in a storm came into his head. He took a deep shuttering breath and swallowed convulsively. "I'm glad you were here though, it would have taken me forever to crawl to the hold..." |

"From North? Then this storm has blown you far off course indeed. You are by Tropical Cove Weyr, down by western Southern. You have much to thank the dolphines for indeed." T'iem remarks, looking up to scan towards the horizont, trying to spy one of the ship-fish. "We seem to be lucky to have a pod of them taking up residence close to the Weyr like this. Don't worry Julayrel, you should not need to crawl any more." The lanky man stands up and turns towards his dragon. "This is half-moon Neoth, and my name is T'iem." He steps over to his dragon and picks down a bag that was fastened to Neoths straps. T'iem moves back up to the injured man, crunching down beside him again. "I got some rations with me, do you think you can eat some?" he asks, unpacking his lunch which consists of a pair of double bread and cold meat sandwiches and a small waterskin. He hold the skin out towards Julayrel in silent offer. |

Julayrel nodded, accepting the skin gratefully. At least the dragonrider had not noticed his slip, and even if he had, the issue wasnt pressed for details. "I dont think I could stomach any food at the moment, but thank you." He took another swallow of water before giving it back. Even water felt heavy on his stomach at the moment. He kept his eyes averted from his leg, just looking at it made his stomach feel like even water wasnt supposed to be there. "It is nice to meet you Neoth, and rider T'iem. I am in your debt." |

T'iem only humps lightly in answer, the man standing upright again and looking around. "Come on Neoth, lets clear up the beach some so Ailisondeth can land." He walks away, and spends the next set of minutes with his dragons help moving some fallen trees and some logs that had blown ashore during the last few days. As he directs the half-moon to move one log, another large shadow glides over them, the shadow turning in the sun, a reflection of burning brilliance reflection off the hide of this much larger dragon as she comes about to go down for landing. Huge, the copper rivals the size of a gold queen. She comes down and lands in an almost dainty manner, contradicting the mere bulk of her size. A small form sits up her neck, and she carries a set of complex straps, many more leather strings over her body then on Neoth. To the side of the straps are also a carrier tied up. The Rider climbs down from the coppers back and removes her helmet, revealing a mass of brown-blond hair that pretty much stands out in wavy curls into all directions. "Hia Neoth!" she calls out as she climb down, sending the other dragon a wave. She stops by her dragons side, taking down a bag. With it slung across her shoulder, she half runs up towards the man on the sand. "Hi there! Neoth sent word that you are in need of a Healer?" |

Julayrel stares. He doesnt even blink as the copper lands. That dragon's huge... The man just continues to watch in awe as the creature lands softly. The pain in his dark blue eyes seems to float away just thinking of the power that dragon has and yet chooses not to use. Sometimes a person underestimates the power of his own strength, but these dragons.... they know exactly how much to use in each situation. Barely any sand blowing to get into his wound, no shock waves felt through the sand so that his leg goes into pain again. It was so marvelous how she just knew what not to do. He snaps out of it quickly as the rider speaks to him. He motions to his leg without ever taking eyes from the copper. Why did the copper entrance him in a way that the half-moon did not? Maybe because she was bigger. Or maybe because she had that power, maybe because... oh he didnt know, he just knew that he had never seen a dragon so beautiful. Finally he tears his eyes away from the dragon to her rider, "I dont know how long it's been broken, but the dolphins brought me into shore as far as they could, I dont remember crawling up the beach, but it was broken when I woke up...." That was the most that he really spoken to anyone without their asking him a direct question, he blushed in response. How could he have let himself go and get his leg broken this badly? |

A small frown on her forehead, the young woman nods, all business like. "We better get you up to the Weyr as quickly as possible then. Good thinking lending him your jacket T'iem" she compliments the taller man only to carry on in the same breath "now, go and make yourself useful by fixing me some short wooden ribs. About this length" she shows him, measuring up empty air. As T'iem shuffles up the beach, towards the forestside, the copper Rider kneels down by the strangers leg. "Do you have any other injuries? Have you hit your head or anything like that?" she asks, while removing stuff from her bag. A small piece of cloth (a dinner napkin to be precise) gets spread out on the sand, tied down by a rock. On to it the journeyman Healer picks out the items she figured she would need. A small earthen jar bottle us unplugged, a drip of something poured into a small simple wooden bowl, then, when the bottle is put away, water is added, almost to the brim of the bowl. She moves over to his side "Here, drink this. It is against the pain" she explains, holding out the cup with fellis-tainted water at him. |

"Not that I have noticed." He said blinking slightly. He hesitated before taking the cup. He hated to admit that he was in any pain at all. But finally he took the offered drought and gulped it back. The taste of fellis was small but still there, and he didnt like that bitterness. "I'm going to have a great weather ache from now on I'm sure..." There he was spouting off. Fellis did that kind of thing to a person he guessed. "How long do you think I'll be put up with this? I have to be able to work, gotta prove...my worth, ya know..." He yawned in the middle of his sentence. (if he's supposed to sleep from that then you can say he fell asleep lol) Edited by Want2BAuthor, Mon Mar 9, 2009 1:29 am.

((Depends on how sensitive he are, and how tired from fighting the storm I guess, but otherwise it shouldn't be making him sleep. You can have him fall asleep if you want to, and we can jump to the infirmary right away? )) "I will see what I can do about that, and don't go counting your leg out just yet" the young woman says with a smile, her attention turning downwards as she moves to begin to inspect and treat his leg. "How long it will take it to heal depends on you.." She looks up and waves a finger at him in a playful yet threatening manner. "Yet there will be no walking or heavy working for a good set of sevendays if you want to leave my infirmary with your skin intact. I won't have you go making it worse by overtaxing it.. not when Aili and I am taking these lengths to fix it" she jokes, her harsh words spoken lightly. Tine turns her attention towards the injury, and after having made a first assessment, she cuts off the remained of his pants leg on that side, and sets to work. The tall man returns, followed by a small fair of firelizards, and hands the young woman some splinters -this followed by a blue firelizard swooping down to place a somewhat off looking twig beside them, before taking off while chittering proudly. With the splinters and the bandage she had in her emergency bag, it does not take the Healer too long to fixate the leg. "T'iem, get the stretched for me, it is time we get him up to the Weyr" she orders softly, her attention still at the leg. |

Julayrel smiles at the little blue firelizard, "He's trying to help..." he mumbles. The felis had made him sleepy, but it probably was just making his exhaustion more noticeable to him. "Is it really bad Healer?" He asked almost scared. He knew it was pretty bad, any break with the bone torn through the skin was bad, but he also remembered people losing their legs from breaks as a child. He did not want to lose it. "I wont...I wont lose it will I?" He clenched his jaw tight because he had heard his voice quiver a bit at the last question. Sharding felis was making his emotions go haywire... or at least just his self control. |

"Nonsense" Tine leans over and gives Julayrel a pat on the cheek. "Not on my watch, young sir" she tells him sternly, then winks before returning her attention to dressing his wound. "Given food and rest, I am sure it will heal. All I am saying, is that you should not count on being up and about for quite some time. You have a long stay at the Weyr to look forward to." The young woman turns her head and sends him a smile in encouragement, and another playful wink "see it as a kind of vacation". "You be feed up with this one in no-time" T'iem remarks, the brooding man returning to them with the stretcher in his hands. He places it on the ground and begins to prepare it, his serious voice continuing on what was in reality a joke. "That girl can wear anyone down with that ever going energy and cheerfulness of hers." he teases the young Healer, before looking up to catch her gaze. "Moving im?" he asks. Tine nods, and gets up, having finished with her bandages for now. She moves to the feet of the injured man. "You take the shoulders. We lift on three" she instructs, her words calm and serious, just like good orders should be. "One, two, ..three" With a bit of a heavy, the pair lifts Julayrel over on to the stretcher, and a few moments later they lift it up, carrying him over to the side of the copper dragon and placin him down on the sand there. "T'iem, I am only going to fetch my stuff. You" Tine turns to shoot Julayrel a steady look, all while giving the hide of the copper beside her a hard pat "stay here with Aili. I'll be back in a few minutes.. " She hesitates, then adds with another wink "Don't go anywhere". Edited by Biadora, Thu Mar 12, 2009 7:45 pm.

Julayrel sighs with relief. So he wasn't going to lose it, at least they weren't planning on letting it happen. Well, not to say that they would actually plan on it. He smiled at his thoughts. Then he listened carefully to T'iem. Could she really be that bad? He looked back and forth between the riders and then realized that he had to be joking. "You sounded so serious..." he said with another smile. He took a deep breath as they steadied to move him, he knew this would hurt and grit his teeth. Luckily he only let out a grown as they moved him. The braces and bandages plus fellis took away most of the possible pain. He was glad that it didnt hurt as bad as when he had tried to move it himself. He laughed softly when T'ine told him not to go any where, "Oh but I wanted to walk around the beach a bit..." he joked. He was surprised he could actually joke around right now. Things seems to be looking in his favor despite the broken leg. He was away from home, away from memory inducing places, no more boats or fish holds for him... now he was a member of a weyr, at least until his leg healed. |

With some further work, the stretcher is lifted up and fasted to the special straps the copper dragon wears. Tine get her things and mounts up, then looks over and nots to Julayrel. "The take off will shake you about some. Not much Ailisondeth here can do about that. But don't worry, you won't fall off and it will be a smooth ride as soon as we get above the treetops." the girl explains while quickly fastening her bag and strapping herself in. She turns to shoot him one last smile, then looks to the front and nods. Without further ado, the copper stands up. The dragon waits briefly after standing, then turns and walks down to the surf. Well down there, she sets off into a gallop, unfolds her wings, and takes off. A pair of strong downbeats later, Ailisondeth turns towards the ocean and glides out above the water, doing her best to minimize rustling her Riders patient even as it meant more work for the dragon. Finding herself a torrent, she begins to beat her wings in a slow steady pace, making them rise slowly through the air. Upon reaching ample altitude, she veers about, and sets course towards the mountain Weyr. As she turns, Julayrel can catch a nice view of the beach, as well of the much smaller half-moon beating his wings and rising through the air at a much sharper angel then the one used by the copper. The flight to the Weyr lasts about 10minutes. ((*moves to the infirmary*)) |
