Biadora Skickat: 2007-04-28 14:01 A pair of hours after his walk at the beach, Ka'el hops with Ga'els help in into the Great Hall. Orders had been given to close the Weyr up, much as it would have been closed up during a Threadfall. And now when the shutters were closed and all loose items bolted or brought inside, people was slowly gravitating towards the Hall and it's huge hearth of fire. Outside the winds were picking up, and the skies was turning grey. Most people could by now spot that a storm was coming in towards the island. And this season, late winter turning towards early spring, storms were not uncommon at all. But, the oldest inhabitants of the Weyr held grave looks on their faces, silently alarming the others. This was not just a storm, this was a Storm. Already it showed signs of being the worst storm to hit Tropical Cove for a generation. and they had bearly seen the start of it so far... Va'ja and I'van comes walking in, side by side as the close friends they are. I'van looks around and gives Va'ja a nudge with his elbow, then the two of them walks off trying to check that all weyrlings was counted for. Milly was herding about a few new candidates, but leaves the two lads by T'iem and heads off to make sure the rest of the candidates were either in the room or doing their chores. A little while later Tine arrives as well. The copperrider looks to be in a good mood as usual, and looks around to try and spot some of her old friends from before she left for the Healers Halls. Wena182 Zuri eventually drawn to the congregation in the Hall. She couldn't believe the how quick the weather had changed. Just a few hours before they had been on warm sandy beaches enjoying the afternoon. There had even been a flit flight. But fast changes of weather were expectable so she heard from some of the other riders. She would not allow herself to be or feel afraid so she seemed and was cool and detached. Although the antic of her flits had made her curious. She strolled into the Great Hall and saw many of the riders congregated there. The sight of their grim faces made Zuri's stomach flutter slightly though she quickly cooled herself again. A tad of nervousness remained though if the older riders were looking so grim that was not a good sign. She quickly checked on the where abouts of her Medinath and flits. Medinath was up in the barracks. The flits...suddenly all popped out of between in a whirl of wings and chirps. They were distressed but now that they were with Zuri they calmed a little. Biddy and Indira settled down on her shoulders while the others hovered around her. "Let's go over to the weyrling table shall we?" Zuri said to the flits before heading over to the weyrling table. Seeing Va'ja and I'van heading over Zuri waved at them happy to see her friend Va'ja there. E'li was already sitting at the weyrling table having been there for some time now. He had watched the skies darken with a looming sense of danger. And seeing the grim faces of the older riders it didn't take a as smart of a guy as E'li to judge that this storm was going to be a bad one. He chatted occasionaly to the female redrider weyrling sitting next to him. But often their voices just trickled to nothing and then a thick silence clung about the table. He briefly speculated about what dragons were out today if they were caught out in the storm... MirkwoodPrincess01 Skickat: 2007-04-29 07:30 (Aaannnd-I am living and breathing. Sorry for the absence-Real Life took over and dragged me by the collar concerning Work and School) Selene walks in, her small fair of Flitts either flying nearby or perched upon her shoulders. Lillith was safely secured in their private weyr, but had seemed nervous at the impending Storm. ---------- Lirael comes in a few minutes later, talking quietly with G'ion. Lirael's Flitts were acting rather skittish, dancing about in the air or making worried creeling noises. UnearthlyMidnightDragon Skickat: 2007-05-02 01:41 Camryn and Zarian had finished their chores and got permission to join the congregation in the dining hall. Zarian had noticed the sense of unease around the Weyr and was growing nervous, while Camryn was trying to remain cheerful and optimistic as always. The two young men walked into the dining hall together and sat down at a quiet table in the corner. "The flitts seem nervous..." Zarian remarked, eyes darting around to the various small panicky fairs around the hall. Camryn shrugged. "Oh, they're excitable little things." He said, waving his hand dismissively. Zarian shot him an exasperated glance, wondering if his friend was really that naive or if he was just trying to keep his spirits up. Biadora Spotting someone waving at him Va'jas head shoots up a bit as the young man streches. Seing who it was Va'ja smiles, then elbows his friend back before stepping past him. With I'van now in tow, the two youths comes up to the other weyrlings. "Hi Zuri, survived the kitchen chores yet another day?" Va'ja notes then sends a smile and nod towards the others. I'van doesn't say anything at first, being busy counting heads. But then he remembers manners "Um, yes.. hello.. I hope you all are fine? Are we missing anyone?" he asks a bit worriedly. I'van had enjoyed working under T'ker as his assistant, but when his mentor suddenly had transferred, bumping him up to main Wyerlingmaster, I'van had begun worry he would not be up to the task. After all, it was only about a turn since he himself had graduated. Tine looks around, then heads for the candidates. The newly-promoted healer was one of the few that was talking it all calmly, smiling as usual. "Hi there!" she calls out cheerfully towards Zarian and Camryn ((and if we got any other active candidates you are included in this as well ;) )) "I don't think we have meet?" she asks as she comes up to them. Then she smiles "actually, I am pretty sure we haven't. I am Tine, and who might you be?" she asks while offering them her hand to shake, one after another. Having helped Ka'el to a bench, Ga'el looked around. The apprentice healer spots Selene and walks over to her. "Hi there" he smiles greetingly, hoping to learn to know some more of the people in the Weyr. Wena182 Skickat: 2007-05-05 02:50 "I managed to survive. I almost got lost scrubbing a pot that I swear was twice the size of me but I managed to get out in the end..." Zuri said teasingly. "I'm fine." Zuri responed clamly although some of the junior weyrlings were looking a bit scared. "I don't think we are missing anyone but then I don't know all the faces of the junior weyrlings just some of them." MirkwoodPrincess01 Skickat: 2007-05-05 02:52 Selene blinks at being addressed, having been trying to soothe Lillith via their mind-link. "Oh. Um, hello," she says, smiling slightly. "I'm not sure I know you. What's your name?" UnearthlyMidnightDragon Skickat: 2007-05-05 23:27 Camryn grinned at Tine and then shot his friend a surreptitious glance as if to say, "See? She's cheerful too!" They both shook the Healer's hand in turn, Camryn with a firm grip and Zarian with his usual loose grasp. "No, we haven't met. I'm Zarian, a candidate." Zarian said politely, and then Camryn chimed in with, "I'm Camryn, but you can call me Cam. We're new here." Biadora Va'ja smiles brightly at Zuri and chuckles a few moments upon hearing her answer. I'van nods, but keeps looking about the room. "I better go doublecheck" he mumbles to his friend and leaves them, walking down the room towards the other end of the great hall. Va'ja shakes his head and chuckles again. "Poor I'van. I think he regrets taking on that job." The blond man sinks down onto a bench. "But, hey, nothing bad that does not have something good in it. We won't have to mine firestone tomorrow" he grins, doing his best to try and lighten up the mood in the room. The young silver-blue riders smile widens when Selene answers him. He reaches up with one hand and brushes some of his slightly wild, brown hair out of his eyes, absentmindedly noting that it started to draw near the time of another haircut, then extends his hand towards the black rider. "No. I arrived here.. oh, about two days ago. I am Ga'el, rider to silver-blue Daerth. Who might you be?" The brown-blond young woman with the boyish cut hair and cloths smiles at them again. "Nice to meet you both. Mind if I join you?" she asks before throwing a glance around the room. "Boy, a turn and a half passes really quickly, but it still feels like half the faces here are all new.." she says, then shrug slightly, having a matter of fact look written over her face. Indra comes walking in through one of the side entrances, talking to the headwoman. The junior weyrwoman had a bit of extra responsibility on her shoulders since Shiara and D'rin had left the Weyr for a few days due to Niennaths predicted flight. MirkwoodPrincess01 Selene takes Ga'el's outstretched hand, shaking it breifly. "I'm Selene, rider to Black Lillith," she replies. "How long have you been here? Wena182 Zuri followed suit and sank down next to Va'ja. "Us weyrlings can be a handful." Zuri said in sympathy for I'van. She regards Va'ja for a moment than nods somewhat solemnly. She understood that he was trying to lighten up the mood but something just didn't feel right. "That is good. But I think we should wait to make that call until we see just how bad things are. A small good doesn't balance out a large bad." She then grinned on him. "Not much help am I?" A litte while after Indra returned R'huk came in. He had gone up to his room and freshened up and he actually looked remarkably composed. He glanced around the room and spotting Ka'el sitting on a bench he hurried over. R'huk kicked himself mentally he had forgotten all about Ka'el'a injury in the day's events. "Hello Ka'el. Doing all right? Not to bad of an injury I hope?" Biadora "Oh, I am in on my third day now" Ga'el smiles back at Selene. MirkwoodPrincess01 Skickat: 2007-05-17 05:42 "Really? And how are you enjoying the Weyr?" Selene asks, gesturing at the Hall and the people within. Biadora I'van smiles slightly and chuckles briefly as he hears Zuris consoling words. He shoots his friend an amused look, then nods to Zuri. "i haven't really gotten all used to not belong in that category mysef you know. It isn't so long since Ulath and I graduated ourselves." He walks off, but returns after a little while. Va'ja shakes his head slightly at the silver rider. "Not really" he agrees, then he winks at her. He looks around the room. "Still, if only we could get some snacks and the harpers to play, this could become really cozy. Kinda like the winter storms at home." He gets a distant, happy look on his face as he thinks back onto his childhood winters. "Everyone are really friendly." Ga'el smiles. Then his smile widens, and he get a little devlish/flirty look over himself, giving her a quick looking over and a flirty wink. "And the girls are pretty. The weather isn't what the recruiter promised though, so who shall I complain too?" he jokes. The silent rider looks up and smiles briefly at R'huk as the one eyed man comes over to him. In answer to his question he rolls his eyes in an exhaggerating manner then lifts his foot and points to the bandage he wore. It was a simple one, for support mainly. But he would be forced to use a walking stick for a few days. He gives R'huk a bit of a questioning look, then makes a gesture towards the bench beside him, offering the other rider to seat himself if he wished. Lori flew in, the sky firelizard landing onto the ground by the riders injured foot (he has his legs crosslegged, the injured leg ontop with his hands keept around his kneecap). Wena182 "So Ulath is a relatively young dragon?" Zuri questioned still curious. She smiled as Va'ja obviously went back in his mind to his childhood days. "True." She said visibly pushing down the lurking sense of danger and relaxing. "It could become quite the little party." "Ah well. Could have been worse right? You'll have to make a good story out of it though. Not just a tripped on the beach something like I did this amazing feet jumping off my dragon airborne almost made it..." He trails off smiling. He looked welcomingly at the seat and sat down. He was a bit tired actually after the days antics. His gaze flickers to Indra for a second before focusing on Ka'el. "I haven't been a very good mentor if so soon on your stay your already hurt." Biadora "Yes" I'van nods to Zuri, then thinks for a moment "Ulath would be.. oh, about thirteen months older then your dragon. I really only signed up to become assistant to the weyrlingmaster since.." I'van suddenly breaks off and blushes. He hurries and tries to save what he had said. "..for the experience.. erm.. Anyway, I never thought I would be promoted to weyrlingmaster so soon." he partially repeats, still trying to hide his flustered moment. Ka'el smiles and nods in agreement to the 'could been worse'. He rolls his eyes slightly and shakes his head to the suggestion of making up a story. Ka'el had no need of that. Besides, he still was recovering from the Thread wounds he had received before arriving at the Weyr... He chuckles, a low muffled noise, as R'huk claims to not have been a good mentor. He winks at the other man and gives him a pat on the shoulder, then he looks out over the room. Wena182 Skickat: 2007-06-10 19:35 "Only 13 months then. Wow he doesn't have all that much on my Medinath does he?" Zuri cocked her head to the side when I'van stuttered curious to what his real reason was. He was trying to quickly change the subject she realized. "The experience has no doubt been good. You get to deal with all of us. Why did T'ker decide to leave when you had just become assistant weyrling trainer?" Then she thought about it for a moment and then decided to ask the question she was dying to know. "Any other reasons for becoming the weyrling master besides being a driven young man?" Biadora The young rider flusters a tiny bit over her praise and runs one hand through his shortcut hair to hide his somewhat embarrassment thereover. "T'ker left to aid Jirton Weyr now when they lost so many of their folk. He told me there were plenty of experienced riders here to give me a hand if I would need help with training" I'van explains as he sinks down onto the bench by the table. "And that is true. I don't think I would have made it so far without that help" he smiles. Her next question got him to blush a tad again and he ever so quickly and guiltily glances over at where a certain illusionrider was sitting. "Um, none special" he lies and frantically tries to think about something else to talk about. "How about you Zuri? What made you want to become a dragonrider?" Wena182 "You seem experienced enough to handle us." Zuri said with a shrug. "And I've never seen you run to others for help." Zuri noticed that he blushed and glanced at a girl. This made her hide a smirk, he had done it for a girl. 'How cute!' She thought. She didn't say anything about it as he quickly changed it around so that she was on the spotlight. "I never actually planned on becoming a rider. I mean sure everyone dreams of it but I never expected it for my future. And then I was searched and brought up to the weyr. And I impressed. I guess I wanted to become a rider for the reasons most people do. All the stories you hear about dragons and their riders it leaves much to be envied." Biadora He flusters again somewhat when hearing her praise, but siles, seming happy over it at the same time. "Oh, but you have not been all that a difficult group to handle. And with Ulath helping me keeping track of everyone.. Frankly, learning all your names was almost the hardest part. That, and the fact I have to get up way earlier then the rest of you, so keep that in mind next time you think the lesson starts too early in the morning." he winks, joking around a bit. He nods and eyes her with a hint of a smile. "And now? When you know how hard work it is, and how dangerous Thread are.. Do you still think being a rider is something to envy?" he asks, interested in her answer. ************ utside the winds was still picking up. A loud noise can be heard as a forgotten bucket flies up in the wind and bounches hard against a pair of shutters before it gets pulled further up with the winds and flies off above the weyr rim. Rain was dripping down outside in the weyrbowl, but it was not real rain, only water carried with the wind from the nearby ocean. Wena182 "Now Medinath and me have never complained about an early lesson." Zuri said with a chuckle. "Yes. I do." She said firmly. "The work is most rewarding so I don't care how hard it is. And Thread...well technically it is just as dangerous for anyone on Pern us dragonriders just stick ourselves in the forefront." She jumps slightly when she heard the bucket hit the side of the shutters. *You are okay mine.* Medinath said soothingly. *The wind is beginning to pick up though. The sea is full of rage.* Zuri laughed at herself for jumping. "Wasn't expecting that loud noise." "No fun at all." R'huk said teasingly as he rolls his eyes at the suggestion of making up a story. As he sees Ka'el look around he looks around himself. "So spotted anything you liked so far?" R'huk asked of course he was talking about girls which had been the basis of their first conversation. Biadora Ka'el chuckles and tilts an eyebrow up at R'huk before pointing with one finger over at a pretty black haired caverns woman, giving the redrider a cocky look as if to indicate 'was it that you meant?' "I don't think anyone was" I'van replies, having turned to stare at the direction the sound had came from. He sudders lightly, looking over towards Indra. Indra feels someone eyeing her, and turns just in time to spot I'van looking at her. She turns and speaks a few words with the harpers, then she begins to walk across the room towards the weyrling table. A little while later the weyrharpers head up the stands, and Kinkainchis begins to play a lowkey tune. Biadora "So how long have you been here, Selene?" Ga'el asks back, then adds in afterthought "Have you impressed here or elsewhere?" MSN-smeknamnMirkwoodPrincess01 Selene replies, smiling slightly. "I've been here for a few Turns now. I Impressed Lillith here about a Turn ago. So, what made you decide to Transfer here?" Biadora "Mostly for a change of scenery." Ga'el answers truthfully, then his demeanor grows saddend. "Too many.. memories at the other place." So many of those in that Weyr had died one way or another, so many friends lost.. He shakes his head lightly, trying to shrug away his memories. He smiles weakly at her. "Soo.. what wing are you in?" Wena182 "Yes. That is what I meant." R'huk said laughing as he watched Indra walk across the hall to the weyrling table. Zuri watched as Indra walked towards the weyrling table at I'van's glance. Biadora Ka'el lets his eyes trail after R'huks gaze, looking a bit surprised as he spots the target. He tilts his eyebrows up at a questioning manner and smirks a bit, chuckling lightly. Indra stops by the weyrlings table, greeting them all with a small smile, looking slightly stressed out. "How are you all? None too worried I hope?" she asks them gently. MirkwoodPrincess01 Selene notes Ga'el's melancholy reply, but doesn't make a fuss about it. "I'm in Ocean Wing. And you?" she asks. |

Wena182 Skickat: 2007-07-20 09:16 R'huk slapped Ka'el playfully on the arm. "Nothing wrong with a man watching something that is worthy of watching. Besides there is nothing wrong with looking even if she is the junior weyrwoman." *Of course you've down a bit more than looked.* *Hush, Arrowth I didn't ask for your input.* *Touchy.* *Touchy subject* "You must admit she is pretty but then any besides her that you fancy?" E'li nodded at Indra when she asked if they were alright. "I'm okay I won't be worried until the storm gets inside or I'm unfortunate enough to have to go outside." Zuri nodded and smiled. "I would have paniked by now if our weyrlingmaster I'van hadn't kept me in check." Zuri said although that was a slight exageration. She was perfectly fine but heck, she might as well praise the new weyrlingmaster in front of the junior weyrwoman. "However, Medinath says the sea is full of rage. Which worries me for the safety of the poor Holds near the water front. But..." She trailed off with a shrug. She was safe and so were the other riders so that was always a good side of the worsening situation. Biadora "Same here" smiles the young rider charmingly back at Selene. "Guess you could show me the ropes then?" he suggests with a small wink. Ka'el chuckles with a bit wry smile at R'huks remark. At his question he just shrug and sends a sweeping gaze over the room. He after all did not know so many of those in the Weyr yet. So he just wags with his hands as in an open suggestion. Indra smiles back at E'li, trying to hide how worried she was. "Don't worry, noone should need to head outside until this storm has blown over." She raises an eyebrow at Zuri, then smiles lightly and sends I'van a sly, slightly mischievious glance. Va'ja elbows his friend and I'van has to once again try and stiffen an embarressed look. Indras face returns to a serious expression and she nods to Zuri. "Yes, the holds will be our second priorety to check in on as soon as the storm has blown over. They tend to do fine, but we have pledged ourselves to them, and quite often they need use to carry messages and similare to the holds at the mainland before they have fixed their ships up so they can go out from port again." Biadora ->->-> For the majority of the rest of the evening the Harpers and other musically inclined inhabitants of the Weyr does the best to easen the mode. For a little while dancing went on, and then there was games. But after a while things grew more quiet. Most people found something to do, mending straps, knitting, in Indras case transcribing some records and Ga'el carves from some wood a firelizard or dragon toy. *** During the late evening and night the winds outside just picks up more and more. Those who did not want to return to their weyrs to sleep alone got bedded down among the workers in their barracs, and Milly and T'iem together with another pair of full riders spends their night in the weyrlingbarrac. *** Around lunchtime the winds suddenly lessens some -from full rage to only storm. And a heavy rain draws in above the Weyr. T'iem looks up from the table which by he was sitting, eating a cold lunch. "I think we are coming into the eye of the storm. That means two more days.." MirkwoodPrincess01 The previous night, Lirael had returned to her weyr, unable to find sleep anywhere else. She decides to stay there for the next day, preferring to keep away from the chatter of the crowds and nervous firelizards. ------------------------------------- Selene had found a semi-secluded corner to sleep in over the night, away from most of the noise of the wind. She busies herself during the following day helping to knit a blanket, though this isn't her favourite thing to do. Biadora Suddenly Indra pales and stumbles onto her feet. "N..no, no, no,no.. no!!" screaming out in near terror the girl runs off towards the exit of the dining hall, swiftly bolting down towards her Weyr. And outside in the bowl, an all too familiare sound can be heard, as Niennath buldges out in bloodlust. The queen was rising, having her second flight at the worst time of all.. T'iem pales and gets up. "Shards and Shells!! She must be caught! Quickly! The calm won't last for long!" Wena182 Zuri and E'li returned to the weyrling barrack that night and both slept fitfully. Zuri had never been a good sleeper and with Medinath's worries and her own and all the bangings and clankings she was having a hard time falling asleep. She was relaxed that all her various companions were with her though. E'li and Woodth spent most of the night up talking and when the did fall asleep it was only for a few hours before the woke and headed back for the great hall. Hearing the proclamation of the storm ending and right now things were easing Zuri felt immensely relieved. She smiled and continued her knitting that she had tooken up this morning with much more enjoyment now that she was not merely trying to distract herself. E'li sat with the other weyrlings discussing various things and also seemed a lot more relaxed. R'huk spent most of his time up and in the great hall. Working to help the leaders of the weyr at all possible. He also was sort of a relaxing symbol to those around him for some reason. His harsh attitude and his harsh jokes and the way he didn't seem to ever worry. He was strong and proud and did his best to help and soothe the weyr. He kept an extra close eye on Ka'el and Ga'el too, he was there mentor and he would not let anything happen to them. He only returned to his weyr in the dead of night to sleep by his beloved Arrowth. It was nearing lunchtime when suddenly Indra sprinted out in the hall. He didn't even have to wait for Niennath's bulge for he was naturally attracted and concerned to Indra he jumped up shouting, "Indra wait!" Before sprinting off after her and then he heard what Tiem said and Niennath's bulge and new what was happening. Biadora Va'ja pales as he hears T'iems proclamation, and gets told by his blue what was happening. Spotting his friend I'van stand up with a confused look on his face, Va'ja looks worriedly and heads over to him. Taking his arm, he guids his friend away from the hall and towards the junior weyrwomans quarters. The two soon gets joined by Ka'el, Ga'el and T'iem exiting the room together with some other male riders. Tine, sitting in a chair reading with her firelizards curled up around her, looks up. After a while she spots Milly and waves to theslightly older woman. Milly walks over and joins the healer. ((As bla as it gets.. but those two are my only chars left here now. Va'ja will hang around the other males I guess.)) MirkwoodPrincess01 Selene looks up, startled at Indra's cry and subsequent rapid departure. She sends a quick inquisitive question to Lillith, who reports on the situation, as well as saying, //I am staying here until this is over. I don't want to get caught up in all of this.// ~Good plan, Lillithlove.~ Selene replies, nodding to herself. ~Let's hope Niennath gets caught quickly.~ Biadora Skickat: 2007-08-23 12:45 As some of the pursuers outside had to give up, either from injuries or from straining themselves against the by now growing winds again, Tine and Milly hurries out from the hall. Tine to go to the infirmary, healer as she was. Milly calling out something about 'going outside to help', and then rush off ignoring some of the calls after her that it was too dangerous for anyone to go outside. After a while, Va'ja comes back to the hall. The bulky lad looked a bit aroused, but not more then he could handle. With a sigh he walks over and sits down by the weyrling table. "I helped a pair of the riders whos dragons have dropped out of the flight to get back to their weyrs.. almost got molestered by one" he adds with a quick wry grin and chuckle -he asumed they all was aware of how hard dragonlust was to surpress, looser or winner alike. "I feel sorry for those getting hurt though.." BiadoraSkickat: 2007-11-28 12:53 After yet a little while, Va'ja gets up. He nods to his friends, then walks off to his weyr. The storm was coming back in over the Weyr in full force, the winds outside pitching up in sound and strenght. So the youth had silently decided to get some reading done back at his weyr. |
