You can change some mercs that we haven't touched already, like:

  • Elmeti
  • Jaeger (let them hunt or something)
  • Highlander (make them flamethrowers?)
  • Yojimbo
  • Iron Troops
  • Etc

    Please use the last update I posted and add every change in the funpatch.txt.

    Crazy things are ok, but just don't make them too imbalanced. That's a mistake we already made too much ;)

That would actually be kinda funny if a civ had a cannon as their explorer lol.

Also if Prawny can't mod right now I think I'll do a little. Flamethrower highlanders sound so OP! :P

Ok here it is again:

EDIT: I have a problem Nick, I hope you can help.

I wanted to give Spain a building that would work like the Golden Pavilion wonder for Japan but then with different bonuses. So you could set it to 10% more rods attack, or 20% more hussar hp, 15% more falc speed etc.

I chose the SPCFortcenter for this building, and I can vills let it build (which was a pain btw, it wanted to build a wall first :S ). I then let the building use the goldenpavilion.tactics just to see if it works and unfortunately it didn't.

I then copied almost the whole proto thing from the golden pavilion and that didn't work either, the vills started to build but the building gained no hp. So I removed the AbstractWonder and now the vills can build the thing again.

But the buttons don't show up. The first bonus does work however, but you can switch it to the other ones not even with hot keys.

So do you have any idea how to fix it?

BTW, I gave the building also to Japan to see if it would work there, but it didn't.

put the files?
Make sure you back up your original data/art folders and are on regular RE patch. Then you can just copy/paste the art/data folders in ha_luke's files in there and overwrite any files that are in conflict. When you want to revert just delete your art/data folders and copy/paste in your original back up art/data folders. Also make sure to keep track of any changes you make in the funpatch.txt file.

Download AoE3Ed here

This is needed to open the data.bar files.

With every expansion a new data.bar is added, data2 in TWC and data3 in TAD. The ones with a P are from patches.

Always start looking in the newest Data.bar, so start by looking in DataPY.bar. If the file isn't there look in Data3.bar, and so on.

Extract the file that you need and use the fileconverter (is included with aoe3ed). Rename the file to musket1.tactics for example (no .xml or .txt or something), change the name in the protoy accordingly. Place the file in the tactics folder.

Then look at the tactics file of the flamethrower (no need to extract it, just preview it in aoe3ed) and copy the necessary things into your new tactics file.

Save it, test it.

Well most of the easy stuff is already done, because we also like to do the easy stuff ;)

But this is a good way for him to learn some new stuff, with this knowledge he will be able to do a lot of things.

I don't know exactly what to do, just try stuff. Look at villagers and colonial militia (of course in the FP files) and try to understand how they work.

ya, i'm not very comfortable with tactics folder either, like sticking to proto techtree and stringtable most :P

and superayush there definitely will eventually be a continuation of age of empires (or AoM perhaps). Just because microsoft closed ES, RE still can make a new game (there is a relatively decent chance that they may already be working on a new aoe already)
